The coffee was so rich and satisfying, BUT THE BAGEL. Omg, the quality of that bagel was beyond description. Freshly made, the egg was a fresh cracked one and the bacon done perfect and savory. The veg cream cheese that is used tasted just made as well. the gentleman making it was so sweet and the lady who took my order was wonderful. The leather cushy chair I enjoyed while waiting was heaven. I can't say enough and I hope to be back very soon. THANK YOU for making my morning.

First - it is super cute. With a mix of community tables, counter seating, and even one very cozy looking chair (I say looking because it was occupied and I was unable to plunk myself down and enjoy my book - which it was beckoning me to do). They have an extensive coffee menu and use their own roasted beans. I went with a standard coffee but did upgrade to maple syrup for my sweetener. (Anyone who knows me knows this alone won me over!) And, if you eat in - your coffee comes in a beautiful real mug! They have decent bakery case which is stocked with pastries from Two Fat Cats and bagels from Rose Foods! That's right - you can get a Rose Food bagel without the hassle of parking on Forest Ave in Portland. I got the Mystery Spice (old bay seasoning) and enjoyed half with Olive Cream Cheese and the other with Herbed. Clearly they make the cream cheeses here in house and they are delicious. The place seems pretty popular as there were many people here on a Thursday morning. Already planning a trip back here with a friend for a little remote work day!

Especially great if you want to just grab some of their coffee beans or get a morning coffee/drink. Perfect for your fix without having to go into downtown. Small amount of parking but they do have a few spots. As other reviews have mentioned the inside is very small with space for one worker behind the counter and at most maybe 4 customers to fit. No inside seats but some tables nearby the parking if weather is nice enough. They have a large majority of drinks you'd expect a coffee spot to have along with a special available most likely. The current special was "Hey Bay Latte" which was a bay leaf, orange zest, and brown sugar. I thought it had a great combination of flavor and was well made. My wife got an iced mocha latte and enjoyed it. It did not become her new favorite but thought it was a solid version. If you are looking for a bite to eat, check out another Speckled Ax location Despite the small space it is well utilized and they have enough decorations and wall art to give it some vibes. Some great artwork on the building's walls outside as well. Great coffee roaster worth supporting!

It's not a cafe; there's no seating inside (it's barely big enough for three or four people to stand). With loads of parking both in their lot and in the neighborhood, it's a perfect place for you to grab and go for beans, different brewed coffees, or even a specialty latte. Speckled Ax isn't my preferred coffee, but I appreciate this location and love that it serves the Greater Portland population. If you were coming into/leaving town via 302, this could easily become your go-to local independent coffee shop!

Whenever I visit somewhere new I make sure to visit at least one small coffee shop. I passionately support small businesses as much as I can! My friend and I had driven up to a local confectionery and I was dragging afterwards. So we found this adorable little place and I had one of the best coffees of my life! The only reason that I am giving it four stars instead of five is that they don't do blended coffee. I also think they need to hire a couple more people as the wait was a bit much. That being said it was entirely worth it because as I stated my vanilla pistachio latte was one of the best coffees I have had in 20 some odd years of coffee drinking. I also loved the decor and cute little elements that really make you feel at home! They had plenty of seating especially for being a smaller establishment Overall, Cute, locally owned and very friendly staff! Delicious coffee! Plenty of drink options and tea and fruity options for those non coffee drinkers as well! If you're in the area definitely visit Sip House!

I was thrilled at the chop stick holders and the sauces that were available. Local and foreign. I grabbed a scallion miso scone with a chili smear on top. It was nice, the texture was good. The flavors weren't as strong as I had hoped for, but texture carried the weight. I also had a sourdough cookie, but it wasn't anything too fabulous. It was a good cookie. Stop in for the creative tastes. The counter person was nice. It was a very brief interaction.

The kimchi cheddar corn soufflé was also very good but not as good as the scone so would give it S tier. The matcha and black sesame butter mochi tasted very good but I think I still prefer the more savory options so would give it an A+ tier. The texture reminds me of Malaysian kuih and flavor was good. The service with the grocery mart area was friendly and helpful for asking questions. We got a fancy soy sauce here to sushi later and it was pretty good. They didn't up charge the soy sauce too much either. Would come back again even though the selection was small.

I went around noon on a Friday and there were a couple of people in line but it moved quickly and there wasn't much of a wait. It's a cute little shop--standing room only--and I liked the vibe a lot. They provide complimentary infused water while you wait and there is a gender-neutral restroom available. In addition to food and smoothies, there are tie dye tshirts and treats for the pup for sale. The person taking my order (I'm guessing the owner) was pleasant and welcomed me for my first visit. I ordered the Tropicali Blues smoothie (minus the banana), and it did not disappoint! I'm looking forward to visiting again and working my way through their menu. They provide a punch card, which is even more incentive for me to keep coming back. Grateful for another tasty local business!

I'm a big fan of Tandem, and have been to their larger coffee shop + bakery on Congress Street…read moreseveral times over the years. They serve good coffee, great bakes, and the overall vibe speaks to me. A few years back, I was in the area visiting another business and recognized Tandem's bicycle logo and immediately became intrigued. I soon discovered that they had a second location here, and told myself if I was ever in the area again I would step in. During this most recent Maine trip, I was making a few last minute stops before heading home, and thought this was as great opportunity to check little Tandem out and get some plural peps. Right from the jump, I noticed the vibe at Tandem Roasters was different. The big Tandem on Congress is large, usually always has a line, and has a large selection of food in addition to the coffee. This Tandem is smaller and more chill - the main floor has some seating around the perimeter, with a smaller room off to the side with more seating. In addition to their merch, they have a decent selection of vinyls to browse. The vibe is overall more chill here - I had time to browse and soak in the aesthetics, whereas you're kinda shuffled down the line at the larger Tandem due to the crowds. The menu is mostly coffee and related beverages; they have a small selection of bakes but it's not nearly as large as their other location. I had already had breakfast, so I decided just to go with a cappuccino. The beverage was good - everything you want out of a cappuccino. Service was also good, I was taken care of promptly and my beverage was ready relatively quickly. Overall, I'm glad I finally got to check this Tandem out. It's a little off the beaten path of the main commercial hub of Portland, however there are a few businesses in the area so it's worth checking out if you're in the area.
