It was lunchtime on a Friday and New London was bustling, yet picking up lunch couldn't have been easier. The sandwiches--made on Blue Loon's own breads--were freshly prepared, neatly wrapped, and stocked in the refrigerator case beside the baked goods. We also picked up a few scones to take home. What impressed me most was the staff. Three young students were working that day, and they were some of the most poised, cheerful, and courteous attendants I've encountered anywhere. One young man immediately understood what I was looking for, gathered everything efficiently, and his colleague had us checked out in no time. In a region already known for friendly people, their professionalism really stood out. The bakery itself was sparkling clean, and I appreciated that the tables were spaced farther apart than is typical, creating a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. Next time, I'd love to stay and enjoy a meal there. And the scones? They're some of the best around--always seasonal, always delicious. If you're planning ahead, pick up some clotted cream from the Lebanon or Hanover Food Co-op along with a jar of strawberry jam, brew a pot of tea, and you'll have a treat worthy of an English afternoon tea.

He ate it pretty quickly so I'm thinking it was good. On this first visit I ordered a medium Americano. It has a bit of an espresso bite and was a good strength. They left room in the cup for milk which is available at the coffee station along w/half & half, flavor shots, sweeteners, paper cup holders and lids. Coffee beverages include latte, cappuccino, espresso shots and more. Milk alternatives are available for an additional charge. Our second visit, a Saturday, there was a line to the door. We both ordered medium drip coffees. We were given paper cups and filled them ourselves from the vacuum pump dispensers at the coffee station. This day had regular, decaf, french vanilla, hazelnut and maple coffee varieties. The coffee was a good temperature to drink right away and had a smooth finish. Very good. Third visit, a Sunday, the line to order was out the door. We had a long drive and were anxious to be on the road and decided to just stop along the way. We should have waited. This coffee is far superior to what we ended up with. Don't be like us. It's worth a wait.

A 12 oz mocha and a 12 oz maple latte. The woman at the counter inquired if I preferred white or dark chocolate for the mocha ( nice touch) and what type of milk. They do offer real maple syrup. The sandwiches took about 7 minutes to appear. The cook ( rather rough ) put them on the counter and turned away in one motion. The coffees took another 4 minutes after the sandwiches came out. If the place had been busy I, of course would understand the wait. However, it was not. Once I finally joined my companion to being eating ( I was delivering items to the table as I received them) he was done with his sandwich as I was beginning. The sandwich was a huge disappointment. Yes, the order was made correctly. The bread was toasted as I requested, bone dry but toasted. My dissatisfaction came from the lack of filling in the sandwich. One egg, one small slice of cheese( not covering the entire slice of bread ) and one paper thin slice of deli ham. I do realize that food costs are up, I also realize that will not have return customers if they do not feel like they are getting value for their dollars. The service was slow but mostly kind. The coffees were very good. The sandwiches were a disappointment. Two 12oz specialty coffees, two breakfast sandwiches just under $30.

7/16/20 Hey, I see Dunkin, but not Donuts...what's going on…read morehere? Well, Dinkin Donuts has changed some things about their store. Evidently more delicious foods are being offered than just donuts. This is a good reason the restaurant has changed the name to just Dunkin. There could be a better reason than the answer I just gave, but one thing is for sure, I love the maple bacon snack pack. I will definitely be getting some of that tomorrow. Good times are a head.
