Brothers Donuts - A dozen delicious donuts

Brothers Donuts

They have a wide variety of specialty donuts. Super delicious! I think the flavors rotate pretty frequently, but when we went it was a lot of fall flavors like pumpkin, maple, and apple. There wasn't a donut not to like, these are really good. Also very reasonably priced at $21 for a dozen! They open early and sell out of flavors quickly. At 8:00 many trays were already empty, so get there early!

Our first impression was how it gave hole in the wall vibes which we find typical means everything will be out of this world. There was a small line but tons of donuts and tons of preorders set for pick up. When it was finally our turn I was extremely disappointed with the service. The woman behind the counter was a bit short and a bit rude. As it was our first visit we didn't know what flavors they had and which flavors they advertised but didn't currently have as only some donut trays were labeled. I assumed the printed list of flavors was accurate so I figured I'd order from there, I was wrong. I also noticed that at least two of the flavors I had requested were available but were on refill trays so she didn't even look. Honestly it was rather disappointing to drive all that way for subpar service. All of that said we will definitely be back as the donuts were truly OUT OF THIS WORLD! We have had donuts all over New England and these are by far the best. The strawberry cream donuts had real fresh strawberries, the lemon cream was delicate and crazy flavorful, the chocolate glazed was light and fluffy (which is rare for a cake donut), and the blueberry cream was unique and delicious. We will be back but we do hope the service is better. Unfortunately I am a strong believer that the service should be as good as the product or you will lose customers so I hope this was a one time thing!

It was immediately obvious that the chocolate chip & snickerdoodle cookies were not fresh. They tasted & felt at least 2 days old. Perhaps it was our mistake for not asking when these were baked before choosing them. The iced shortbread & linzer cookies were good. The raspberry jam between the linzer's shortbread cookies was generous, making it messy to eat - but yummy. The puffy iced lemon cookie itself had a nice soft texture, but the icing on it was aggressively Sprite tasting, & overpowered the cookie. Still we enjoyed the soft cookie part naked. I love a jammy thumbprint cookie, because the cookie is soft & the jam is baked into the center to reduce it to slightly chewy. The 2 we picked here had blobs of jam placed in the center after baking, & the cookie part was almost crunchy, so every bite left crumb & jam blobs dripping on your hands. We got none of the chewy jammy centers or soft cookie parts that make thumbprints so good. I'm giving 3 stars overall because service was very warm & friendly, and the shop is very inviting. Perhaps the best cookies to get here are the shortbreads as they are very cute & seem to hold up well. Or any of the cookies we tried, that appeal to you in the ways they did not appeal to us.

Good things come to those.....who have the money…read more Traveling for business, I wanted to pick up a dozen to bring in to my customer location. I found NHD with a little help from YELP! and headed that way first thing in the morning. It's a nice little place with a cute cafe feel. I could tell it was popular because, although it wasn't crowded, there was a steady stream of people. Upon walking in, the first thing I noticed beyond the decor was that you wouldn't immediately be able to tell NHD is actually a doughnut shop. There aren't the usual doughnut cases on display with all of the sugary goodness. As I waited my turn in line, I noticed that the price list/menu on the wall was strictly coffee. Unless I'm missing it, I didn't see anything about the doughnuts in terms of pricing. When it was my turn, I walked up an noticed that just on the other side of the glass, on the counter, was a display of the doughnuts that they had available that day. They all looked absolutely delicious and high quality. Not your average doughnut shop for sure. I asked for a dozen boxed and then one for myself. As typically do, I just let them select the mix and pointed out one or two that I didn't want mixed in. I went with the Brown Butter Cronut for my personal sample. The total of the 13 doughnuts was $38.25. This comes out to just under $3/doughnut. With tip, I closed out at $43.99. They are pricey and a little more expensive that I would normally be used to paying. However.... Once in the car, I tore into my personal sampler, the Brown Butter Cronut. You DO taste where that money is going. That buttery ring of glory was delicious. It was quite chewy, which was unexpected, but the flavor was truly out of this world. The brown butter flavor shoots right through and launches every taste bud you have into and out of control rave party. It was awesome. Maybe they do have the doughnut prices posted somewhere. Perhaps on the doughnut display that I mentioned, behind the counter. I didn't see it. I truly was shocked by the price and although the one I had was great, still more than I'd typically like to pay. But, they're a small local business and they've got to pay the bills and earn a little scratch. If the doughnut that I had wasn't as good as it was, this review would be a little bit different. Would I go back? Maybe. Definitely to grab one or two for myself. I like to bring doughnuts in for customers when I'm on the road. They get some, I get some, company pays for it....it's an all around win. Having grown up with a doughnut shop in the family, I am fairly critical and I will not bow down to the chains out there. They're trash. Go local, go independent. So I always seek out the good local doughnut shops, with a little help from YELP!, and bring "the goods". It never goes unnoticed by the people I bring them to. I really want a doughnut now. Maybe two. Or six.

The doughnuts were also delicious! Fluffy and cooked perfectly! The space itself is small with limited seating but for a Tuesday morning it wasn't bad! My only recommendation would be to add a changing table to the bathroom. Was there with a friend and there was no where to change a baby other than the couch with a diaper pad down.

The place is old school diner with compact booths and huge counter. In the back they have merchandise and all the awards and recognitions framed. The menu had wide variety of breakfast items. We ordered the mickey mouse waffle, steak & egg and scrambled egg with tots. The steak was little extra cooked, but still I loved the whole dish, the egg and toast were perfect. Waffle was also cooked well. Our server was a hard worker. She was helping a bunch guests all sitting at the counter. To my surprise, they accepted all kinds of credit cards, not just cash. I probably loose my mind if one person asking me for water in the crazy busy diner. Not a big diner. Some booths and tables. Bar is first come first serve.
