Adorable coffee shop in Concord. We were staying for the night on our way to Vermont and we wanted…read morecoffee better than what our hotel was offering. This place definitely hit the spot. They have all the types of coffee you could possibly imagine, which is great since my fiancé and I have completely different tastes. He ordered a traditional, hot latte. He said it was full flavored, not too hot, and was served at the perfect temperature. I had an iced Moose Tracks (chocolate and peanut butter) latte with oat milk. I was worried the flavors would be really heavy but it was just the right amount of sweetness. The place is also huge. It went way further back than I would have thought and there were plenty of tables. They had a million different types of coffee beans you could buy in all different sizes. Some even looked like 5lb bags. In addition to all of that, they had great merch, some with their logo and others that were dog and cat themed. As a person with a lot of pets, I wanted to buy everything. They also featured other goods and art made by local New Hampshirites.

There were approximately 5 other customers in the shop. Woman at the counter was welcoming and accommodating. We ordered 2 egg, ham and cheese sandwiches. One with Swiss one with American. A 12 oz mocha and a 12 oz maple latte. The woman at the counter inquired if I preferred white or dark chocolate for the mocha ( nice touch) and what type of milk. They do offer real maple syrup. The sandwiches took about 7 minutes to appear. The cook ( rather rough ) put them on the counter and turned away in one motion. The coffees took another 4 minutes after the sandwiches came out. If the place had been busy I, of course would understand the wait. However, it was not. Once I finally joined my companion to being eating ( I was delivering items to the table as I received them) he was done with his sandwich as I was beginning. The sandwich was a huge disappointment. Yes, the order was made correctly. The bread was toasted as I requested, bone dry but toasted. My dissatisfaction came from the lack of filling in the sandwich. One egg, one small slice of cheese( not covering the entire slice of bread ) and one paper thin slice of deli ham. I do realize that food costs are up, I also realize that will not have return customers if they do not feel like they are getting value for their dollars. The service was slow but mostly kind. The coffees were very good. The sandwiches were a disappointment. Two 12oz specialty coffees, two breakfast sandwiches just under $30.

Banana/strawberry and holy shit it was incredible!!! I. LOVED. IT!!! Damn it was good. I think it was like $12 tho? Am I crazy to think...meh, it's ok, (the price) I was on a holiday and you are supposed to enjoy whatever? haha!! I would normally never spend that much on a freaking smoothie! HOWEVER! Once we got into Manchester, VT....we saw another The Works Bakery...I SHO DID get another one lol. I was surprised to see that this place is a chain. When we were in Concord...it kind of felt like this was a place exclusive to Concord. Nah, it's not. Thats ok tho. I got a smoothie at a coffee house in just outside Bar Harbor and it was absolute garbage. So it was nice to have one where they actually have you what you ordered. Most places in Vermont, Maine, New Hampshire all allow dogs. I travel with my little Yorkie wherever I go. Alfred loves to travel haha! He is my child...seeing as I do not have any human kids. My dog is my life. So it's nice when you go into places and they welcome dogs. This place....does not tho. Thats boooo! HOWEVER! I TOTALLY understand! I TRULY do! I travel with my dog everywhere, but yes, I do realize this place is a restaurant and they all have their rules. I just love restaurants that allow dogs haha! I am not one of those psychos that will tear a place apart about not allowing dogs. I am one who actually respects policies like this. And yes, I bring my dog with me bc it's just me...and my dog. He is a 6lb Yorkie who I will never leave alone nor would I ever kennel him. I say all this bc so many people out there judge others who bring their dogs everywhere. He is a family member. He comes with me. Just go to this place wherever you run into one. It really is a great place. They were all SO nice in there even when they asked my take Alfie back outside. OH for the record too...I carry my little man everywhere with me. He's not like...running around everywhere...marking his territory lol Atmosphere in this location is very nice. Kinda dark and Lodgy feeling. Its nice. Located too in what I am assuming is a historic building. Noce view of the downtown area too if you take you lunch or whatever outside to their outdoor seating...which I am guessing is probably brought in now...seeing as it is almost December. Ok thats it. I know I rambled a lot here, but I feel it all fits with my review. I ramble a lot to begin with. If you read this...thank you! If you didn't...I will sleep in 5 mins and sleep like a baby :) Thank you The Works for a wonderful first experience. I live in Idaho. Wish we had you here. Thanks for reading YelperWorkers! Most of the items in the shop are available for shipping. I stopped in here recently to pick up a few sweet treats. The owner greeted me as I walked in and gave me a run down of his offerings in the shop. I got a box of Fine Syrian Mamoul Delicate Data Cookies (9 for $10), Exquisite Vegan Chocolate Baklava (2 pc for $4), and Exquisite Pistachio Baklava (2 for $4). Each of the baked goods were pretty good, though small pieces for the price paid. The baklava (layers of phyllo) were very crispy on the outside and very sweet. The date cookies coated with powdered sugar were crunchy on the outside with a good smooth date filling inside the cookies. I like the baklava here! I would shop here again, but I would probably get a big box of assorted baklavas (for around $21) for the best value.
