I am addicted after one bite! These cookies are not just tasty but truly beautiful. I bought a few of the cookie boxes at the local Whole Foods as holiday gifts for family after noticing the pretty images on the packaging. The cookie designs reminded me of my grandma's Bengali Shondesh sweets. I went on the company website and then read about the owner who also started baking to remember his childhood sweets. Aissa Sweets opened its retail shop at the sharp corner of N State St and Rumford St in Concord. This small sweets shop offers handcrafted Middle Eastern sweets including a good variety of baklavas, date bars, carrot bars. date cookies, sweet cashew fingers, cranberry hearts, and walnut & coconut bars, most items are packaged/boxed and ready to go. They also offer fresh baked cookes and fresh ground coffee too! The handcrafted treats are made with all natural ingredients and some are gluten free. Most of the items in the shop are available for shipping. I stopped in here recently to pick up a few sweet treats. The owner greeted me as I walked in and gave me a run down of his offerings in the shop. I got a box of Fine Syrian Mamoul Delicate Data Cookies (9 for $10), Exquisite Vegan Chocolate Baklava (2 pc for $4), and Exquisite Pistachio Baklava (2 for $4). Each of the baked goods were pretty good, though small pieces for the price paid. The baklava (layers of phyllo) were very crispy on the outside and very sweet. The date cookies coated with powdered sugar were crunchy on the outside with a good smooth date filling inside the cookies. I like the baklava here! I would shop here again, but I would probably get a big box of assorted baklavas (for around $21) for the best value. read more

I have heard Syria is one of the best foodie countries in the world. Aissa proves it. Flavor, ingredients and presentation are so refined yet comforting, which please all the five senses. My favorite is chocolate baklava, but their artisan filo makes everything taste great. read more

Hard to find in what seems like a maze of an industrial park, but definitely worth the few minutes of confusion. Cute and mellow with enough delicious-sounding options that I wish I lived near to try more. The spiced cardamom coffee is tasty and more like regular American coffee than sweet strong grainy Arabic coffee. The home-brewed kombucha is light- not as sweet or as vinegary as I'm used to. The freshly grilled filo-dough wraps are amazing! We had 3 different veggie kinds, but the meat ones sounded good too. The baklava is tasty and the texture is perfect. The only downside is that it's made with sugar rather than honey. Next time I'll try the date-stuffed cookies that the next table was raving about. read more

If you like Mediterranean/ Middle Eastern food, this place is a must. Went for lunch and just can not say enough about it. Started off with rolls that just came out of the oven with the different dips and followed with the filo wraps which I truly don't even how to describe them, out of this world. Now if you are a Baklava lover, this is by far the best I have ever had. They have the traditional , coconut, chocolate and raspberry filled. Can't go wrong. What a place! My girlfriend and I were in town visiting family and saw Aissa as someplace that we may like to try. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. I had the shawarma wrap and it was delicious! I would gladly pay twice what I did for the food and service that I got here. This cafe is a gem! Everything is handmade and there is a choice of beef, chicken, and vegetarian sandwiches, among other offerings. The sandwiches are wrapped with filo dough. They are well-known for their delicious baklava flavors and other middle eastern pastries. The cafe itself is clean and bright - with huge windows, it's a lovely stop for lunch. Great, friendly service. It's a little out of the way, but definitely make the time to try it! read more

This place is very hard to find but very worth the trip. It is now located in the industrial-looking strip mall on Hall street where the vegetarian restaurant used to be. The dining are is tastefully appointed in wood and colorful drapery. The space is light and clean. The service is friendly and very accommodating. The sandwiches are wrapped in homemade filo dough and browned to perfection. I had the chicken shwarma and some homemade kombuch flavored with molasses and cinnamon and they were both delicious. I hope the location doesn't keep people from discovering this wonderful oasis. read more

The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the food is world class, and the owner is a really nice,, very talented guy. Aissa Sweets is more than sweets. We've been there twice, and we'll be back! This is one of my favorite restaurants in Concord. It's at a convenient location near I-89. The ingredients of the food are high quality, and the staff is friendly. I was shocked at how low the prices were for free range, organic, local chicken. Even the phyllo dough is hand made. It is an excellent restaurant for people with food allergies. The meat is cooked in olive oil. The baklava is made with canola oil. The date cookies are made with ghee. I wish they were open later than 5:30. read more
