Small spot, welcoming environment with a very friendly owner. The decor/layout felt like I was in someone's home. Tried a ham and cheese croissant, bread and chocolate pastry, and an apple tart. The croissant was a little doughy, the pastry was ok, and the tart was a disappointment. Unfortunately, I didn't try any of the good looking loaves of bread. I hope to try some bread soon and will update my review but, for now, despite really wanting to like this place, I have to say I was disappointed.

Simply fantastic European style cake and pastries. I've especially enjoyed the cakes over many special occasions. Hazelnut, various chocolate cakes, fruit, and also tarts and other lovely pastries. Rich flavors and made well.

Fantastic baked items from cookies to layer cakes. Delicious and the owner and staff are a pleasure!

This was delicious!!! I got a slice of the chocolate poppyseed (I think?) bread at a friends house and then tried the regular chocolate bread (pictured)....I am now addicted and they are my new favorite dessert! I will have to find my way to this place again even if I have to drive a little ways from Massachusetts, it was that good

Fantastically moist, luscious "tuxedo" cake with milk chocolate and white mousse inside.

If you want a croissant that is better than Paris go to bread & chocolate! As I sit in Paris I know this is true!

The fruit tart is a huge favorite of mine, and is well worth the price for any occasion..

This place is great. It's pricey...so be prepared for that…read more My brother got the avocado toast, ( I think thats what it was) and loved it. I didn't get any food. I ordered a smoothie. Banana/strawberry and holy shit it was incredible!!! I. LOVED. IT!!! Damn it was good. I think it was like $12 tho? Am I crazy to think...meh, it's ok, (the price) I was on a holiday and you are supposed to enjoy whatever? haha!! I would normally never spend that much on a freaking smoothie! HOWEVER! Once we got into Manchester, VT....we saw another The Works Bakery...I SHO DID get another one lol. I was surprised to see that this place is a chain. When we were in Concord...it kind of felt like this was a place exclusive to Concord. Nah, it's not. Thats ok tho. I got a smoothie at a coffee house in just outside Bar Harbor and it was absolute garbage. So it was nice to have one where they actually have you what you ordered. Most places in Vermont, Maine, New Hampshire all allow dogs. I travel with my little Yorkie wherever I go. Alfred loves to travel haha! He is my child...seeing as I do not have any human kids. My dog is my life. So it's nice when you go into places and they welcome dogs. This place....does not tho. Thats boooo! HOWEVER! I TOTALLY understand! I TRULY do! I travel with my dog everywhere, but yes, I do realize this place is a restaurant and they all have their rules. I just love restaurants that allow dogs haha! I am not one of those psychos that will tear a place apart about not allowing dogs. I am one who actually respects policies like this. And yes, I bring my dog with me bc it's just me...and my dog. He is a 6lb Yorkie who I will never leave alone nor would I ever kennel him. I say all this bc so many people out there judge others who bring their dogs everywhere. He is a family member. He comes with me. Just go to this place wherever you run into one. It really is a great place. They were all SO nice in there even when they asked my take Alfie back outside. OH for the record too...I carry my little man everywhere with me. He's not like...running around everywhere...marking his territory lol Atmosphere in this location is very nice. Kinda dark and Lodgy feeling. Its nice. Located too in what I am assuming is a historic building. Noce view of the downtown area too if you take you lunch or whatever outside to their outdoor seating...which I am guessing is probably brought in now...seeing as it is almost December. Ok thats it. I know I rambled a lot here, but I feel it all fits with my review. I ramble a lot to begin with. If you read this...thank you! If you didn't...I will sleep in 5 mins and sleep like a baby :) Thank you The Works for a wonderful first experience. I live in Idaho. Wish we had you here. Thanks for reading YelperWorkers! Go have a smoothie! avocado toast! a bagel! you will love it! Cheers!

First off, there truly is something for everyone. It was hard to choose what I wanted because everything looked so good. I ended up with an egg sandwich, but everyone in the group got something different. The portions were HUGE and everything was SO FRESH. The place was packed and it was clear why since for the price and what you got, it is probably the best sandwich place around. If we lived in the area, it would probably be a regular lunch spot for us. Very good.

The cookie designs reminded me of my grandma's Bengali Shondesh sweets. I went on the company website and then read about the owner who also started baking to remember his childhood sweets. The story, the look, but most definitely the taste...just wow!!

Aissa Sweets opened its retail shop at the sharp corner of N State St and Rumford St in Concord…read more This small sweets shop offers handcrafted Middle Eastern sweets including a good variety of baklavas, date bars, carrot bars. date cookies, sweet cashew fingers, cranberry hearts, and walnut & coconut bars, most items are packaged/boxed and ready to go. They also offer fresh baked cookes and fresh ground coffee too! The handcrafted treats are made with all natural ingredients and some are gluten free. Most of the items in the shop are available for shipping. I stopped in here recently to pick up a few sweet treats. The owner greeted me as I walked in and gave me a run down of his offerings in the shop. I got a box of Fine Syrian Mamoul Delicate Data Cookies (9 for $10), Exquisite Vegan Chocolate Baklava (2 pc for $4), and Exquisite Pistachio Baklava (2 for $4). Each of the baked goods were pretty good, though small pieces for the price paid. The baklava (layers of phyllo) were very crispy on the outside and very sweet. The date cookies coated with powdered sugar were crunchy on the outside with a good smooth date filling inside the cookies. I like the baklava here! I would shop here again, but I would probably get a big box of assorted baklavas (for around $21) for the best value.
