**November 2025: My friend and I drove by this orchard on our way to Concord and since we had a light schedule we drove back later in the afternoon to check it out. The farm wasn't open during our visit but we did get to check out their shop which had a lot of maple syrup, apples, and apple products. My friend bought a pint of their apple cider and when we tried it later that day we were really amazed by how crisp and refreshing it was. I bought a single apple cider donut for us to try and it was really soft and lovely, as well as some New Hampshire Maple Syrup. I learned that maple syrup from New Hampshire and Vermont have very distinct tastes so I'm curious to do a taste test at home! read more

Beautiful place to come with the family. You buy your $10 or $5 bag and go grab your own apples. There are outside areas where u can sit. Also the store is packed with yummy local items from maple syrup, to apple cider doughnuts and produce. By the way, those doughnuts are made right there for you.. totally fresh! And the people are so friendly! Will come back whenever we visit New Hampshire again! read more

One of our families favorite places for our annual apple picking excursion. Huge variety of apples. We have also picked peaches at Carter Hill. The staff is always friendly. Their farm stands is huge and lots of variety from fresh veggies, baked goods, holiday gifts, coffees, teas, maple products....lots of locally made items. Their apple cider donuts are AMAZING! We purchases several bags of the donuts on every visit. A quaint orchard in Concord NH. You must stop in for a visit. They have rocking chairs and a gazebo to relax and a huge area for the little ones to play. A fun place for all ages. read more

Disappointed in our visit today. We are on a Fall trip through 3 states and knew we must stop at an apple orchard or cider mill on our way. CHO was on our way from Boston. First off, it was EXTREMELY windy. They obviously can't do anything about that, but the wind was so strong, the dust & dirt from the top lot was so thick in the air that we couldn't stay outside. We went inside the shop & looked around. Their website brags about their cider doughnuts, so I was looking forward to getting some...until I saw the ingredients. It looked like an ingredient list on a box of something at a Walmart "bakery." Heck no. We did get a whoopie pie, which was pretty good. Also, note that there are no public restrooms, only porta-potties in the corner of a field. read more

The views are stunning and the orchard looked great, but I was horrified by the ingredients in their apple cider donuts. They fry them fresh in front of you, but it's about as far from a quality baked good as you can get. They contain partially hydrogenated oil (which the FDA has stated is unsafe for humans), tons of artificial dyes/flavoring, and perhaps most notably... no real apples. As a baker, I would be embarrassed to bake something with ingredients this artificial, and they should be even more embarrassed to sell it. read more

No fall in New England in complete without an orchard trip, and Carter Hill checks all the boxes! Great farm store with local goods? Check. Plenty of trees with lots of apple variety? Check. Delectable cider donuts? Check. An OBSERVATION TOWER from which you can overlook the orchards and see mountains in the background? An added bonus! When most of the area's attractions in the area close around 4 or 5, this place stays open until 6 in the fall! It was the perfect end to our New Hampshire leaf peeping day trip. And we brought home enough apples and donuts to relive it for a few days afterward! read more

I can see why 4 stars is what everyone gives the place. We came here to pick apples, watch cider being made, and cider donuts. When we drove in, we noticed the beautiful scenery surrounding the business. There are mountains behind the backdrop of the business. When you walk in, the shop has a lot of things in it to look at and buy. Apple cider, pies, different variations of apples already picked etc... the cashier was very nice. But he told us they don't do the Apple cider tours or have samples which I was shocked about. I think they should have samples of apples so you know which to get. We then went walking to the orchids to pick. We picked a couple of apples since were flying tomorrow. We ended up picking honey crips. The cashier stated the snow ones are sweeter. I still found honey crisps to be better. We ended up spending like 40 dollars. I wanted to give this place a 4 for no tours or samples but, it's a small business and the product is good. read more

This was my first ever orchard experience, and boy did this place deliver! They sure do know how to draw in a tourist like myself, with cutesy Fall and Halloween decorations plus tons and tons of delicious apple-flavored foods. We especially enjoyed the activity of picking your own apples, something I have only ever done inside my local grocery. This was much more fun! The staff here was also great. This was an excellent experience - do yourself a favor and plan a visit! read more

Our favorite PYO fruit orchard. Outstanding fruit quality and selection. I will not share my secrets, but an observant consumer can find bargains and, on occasion, a few of them will be eye-watering. An example of the former: some 'premium' varieties costing less than 'sale' prices in a chain store. And oh, so much better-flavored !!! Friendly, professional staff, play area. This place has the BEST cider I've ever had in my life. I've been unable to find a cider that even comes close. The apple cider donuts are always fresh and warm. In the fall, I try to stop in weekly and pick up a couple gallons of cider and bag of apple- we go through a couple gallons of cider a week. It's THAT amazing. The family that runs the place is wonderful- they always remember us and have gone above and beyond for me a few times when I was running late and wasn't able to make it to their store before closing. My kids love the large open play area- safe, lots of toys, swings, cars to drive and sandboxes with a gazebo for parents. They have a tower to climb with a beautiful view to look for birds and wildlife. They also have a large selection of pumpkins that are reasonably priced. It's a just a great place to come for half the day and hang out with my kids. A true gem in Concord run by a wonderful family, This place is so unique and special to me. Some friends and I went to Carter Hill Orchard on Friday 15th - 2017 . We loaded up the handicapped van and went to Carter Hill Orchard to pick some mac apples . We filled three bags of Mac Apples to bring back to Merrimack County Nursing Home in Boscawen , New Hampshire . We had an awesome time picking the Mac Apples , after that we enjoyed a Apple Cider Donut . The donut was fresh and sweet tasting , the group enjoyed our trip to Carter Hill Orchard . This place was a zoo when I stopped by a few Sundays ago. I have access to plenty of apples elsewhere, so I wasn't looking to buy (though they had a good selection of varieties, decent prices, and seconds for sale). The farm stand is a large well maintained facility. But the real reason I was there was cider donuts. There was a huge line as they were frying them right there (and I'm just fine to wait for a donut if they're made fresh). Unfortunately for them the wait meant I had time to read the ingredients list that was posted for the cider donuts, which is awful. As full of crap as the shelf stable donuts you buy as the grocery store and containing things like weird apple pieces (no actual apple used). Yes, I did still eat them. It was a hot, fluffy donut covered in sugar which is hard to dislike, but it was not cider-y at all and not something I would return to purchase. read more

After watching me and my grandson get out of the car and walk over to the wagon, get on and start putting sun screen on, all kinds of other kids get on, NOW he chooses to say that if we are not with the school group then you have to get off. Really? So now my 2 yr old has to get off the wagon. There was no sign and didn't ask me when he watched us not get off a bus. Very rude, won't go back. By the way, thank you for the free apple for my grandson! I counted 13 items in the playground that were broken. read more
