Customers Service was Fabulous here! Elvis took my orders for me & my crew! Didn't mess up a thing and coffee was fresh! At 1 am you would think he would be dragging but he made friendly conversation! I'd come back here time & time again!

Zen Cha Matcha - Golden Hour

Zen Cha Matcha

What better way to celebrate Matcha Day than with matcha drinks and soft serve! Zen Cha Matcha was…read moreobserving this wonderful holiday. So naturally had to take advantage of the free matcha they were offering with purchase. There was a bit of a line but worth the wait. I ordered the strawberry matcha and received a free small matcha soft serve. Winner winner chicken dinner! There are a few tables along the walls where patrons were sitting and enjoying the drinks. Some working, some chatting. They also have a very cool tatami area to relax and enjoy your purchased items. Please remember, no shoes on the tatami. Keep on Yelp'n!

The space itself is beautiful--very minimal with white floors, high vaulted ceilings, and a really open feel. They have a retail wall on the left with some gorgeous ceremonial tea sets imported from Japan that I spent way too much time looking at. As for the drinks, you can tell they aren't cutting corners. They use ceremonial grade matcha from the Mizoguchi family (who apparently have 400 years of history in Kumamoto), and everything is organic. I tried two different vibes: * Golden Hour: This was a standout. It's a mix of coconut, turmeric, ginger, and some warming spices like nutmeg and cardamom. It had a nice little kick from the peppercorn. * Kokuta Hojita Latte: I got this with almond milk. The Japanese black sugar gives it a really deep, toasted sweetness that isn't cloying. The staff was super friendly and nailed the order. Also, side note: they have a modern touchless POS system, which made paying quick and easy. My only gripe--and it has nothing to do with the shop itself--was the seating. It's pretty limited to begin with (a sofa, some small tables, and one Japanese Ceremonial Table). Unfortunately, the "Zen" vibe was a bit ruined by someone hogging the entire ceremonial table with her laptop and books while other people were literally standing around waiting for a spot. Definitely not very zen behavior! Overall, it's a cool spot for a high-quality matcha fix. Just maybe don't expect to lounge for hours if it's busy.

Lorca - Another interior and the far end of the counter

Screaming crying kicking begging for you to open a Norwalk location…read more I can't mention Lorca to someone without them saying "it's under new ownership", but I think the new owners have done a good job at sustaining the original quality of the shop. They have some of the best drinks and food items, the atmosphere is great for relaxing or working, and the staff is so nice and helpful.

I've been coming here maybe 2-3 times a season since they opened about 12 years ago, but sometimes even 2-3 times A DAY. This is one of the few cafes I can confidently say is innovative while staying true to their classics. The churros are still going strong many years later, but then they're also coming out with fresh seasonal flavors all the time. Some of the best flavors of coffees I've had are at this place: jasmine matcha, maple black walnut, a proper not-too-sweet autumn spice, pistachio rose cardamom, tres leches, etc. They were doing a horchata cold brew before anyone in the area, and their alfajores cookies remain tasty as ever. I always get the espresso drinks, but their drip is great too. Food is awesome, but I wish there were more savory vegetarian options at every cafe. Still, at least it's not the same boring breakfast burrito here; the sage and manchego egg and cheese on sourdough is pretty solid. The pastries and desserts always look and taste fantastic too. live in MD but visit my parents in Stamford often, and Lorca is the spot I always find myself going to first. Plus, there's plenty of space ever since they expanded years ago, so you can bring a book and people watch the busiest street in Stamford. The service is fast, courteous, and friendly. The past few times I've gone they've been pretty slammed. They were quick but seemed maybe one person down? If they're hiring, please work here! I know their winter drinks are going to be just as good, and the holiday season gets busy. I think I need to get another autumn spice latte before I hit the Amtrak.

The Atmosphere The location here is stunning. It's a beautiful, open space with massive windows that let in a ton of natural light. Inside, there's a good mix of seating--from a cozy sofa to standard tables and chairs. When the weather is nice, the outdoor seating in the courtyard is the place to be; it's a perfect environment for chatting with friends or focusing on a laptop. The Drinks In my opinion, the quality of the beverages here is a step above Dunkin' or Starbucks. Yes, the price point is a bit higher, but you truly taste the difference. My go-to order is the iced Fall Oat Boy with honey--it's consistently delicious. I also appreciate that they have plenty of vegan options clearly marked on the menu. The Food & Parking The one area that consistently misses the mark for me is the hot sandwiches. I've tried several, including the Deluxe (turkey sausage and egg on a croissant) and the Vegan Deluxe. While the menu pictures look great, reality is something much different. The heating method they use is a letdown. Instead of a light, flaky, crispy croissant, the sandwiches consistently come out soggy and wet, which is a bummer. Pro-tip: Just a heads up that parking in this area can get pretty tight, so give yourself an extra minute to find a spot!

There are tables with booth and chair seating, although the tables are tiny so there is not much room for anything more than a laptop. There are outlets under the booth so charging devices is not a problem. Because the tables were tiny and very close to each other though, it was difficult to concentrate as it's a lively spot with lots of people. Great spot to catch up with friends, not a great spot for focus. I will be back to try the other coffees with some friends!

The staff was welcoming, patient, and conversational, which made my first visit here even better. I ordered their cold brew coffee with oat milk and two shots of vanilla. It had great flavor and the perfect caffeine kick. Based on their recommendation, I also tried the coffee crumb cake, and wow. It was fresh, moist, buttery, with the perfect touch of cinnamon. Honestly one of the best I've had. Parking can be a little tricky when it's busy, but it's absolutely worth it for the experience. I would highly recommend Humbled Coffee House to anyone and will definitely be back, especially for that crumb cake.

The space itself is clean and comfortable. It does lean a bit darker inside, but that seems to be part of the aesthetic they are going for. Still enjoyable and worth grabbing if you are stopping in. Their snack selection is where they shine a bit more. When the pastries are fresh they are really good. I have tried a few items like the banana loaf and lemon loaf and they have both been tasty and satisfying with a cup of coffee. Modern Love roasts their own beans. I bought a house blend and another bag of beans. I also had a Black Cold Brew and it was definitely well above average and balanced for a coffee shop cold brew. The shop is nice. Service was reasonably efficient. We arrived about 20 minutes before closing on Sunday during Memorial Day weekend, which seemed to make the one person working somewhat anxious because she presumably wanted to get her weekend going. I obviously get that, but she could have been a touch less obvious about it as her 5 minute warning was a bit intense. In any event, I would definitely return. 4.25 Stars
