I'm so sorry to admit that I haven't been here in years! I used to come regularly with my Nonna as…read morea kid. I'm so glad that I decided to visit again! This place is the best of the best! It's cute inside and the service was friendly and informative. They let me know that EVERYTHING, even the puff pastry is made in house!!! Very impressive! I bought a couple glazed donuts to make up for the horrible pastry and donuts that I had this week from elsewhere. I'm so glad I did because they were fresh made and moist and the glaze was still wet! If nothing else they made was good, I would go back just for the glazed donuts! But everything is great so let's keep chatting! I originally decided to drive there to get the cinnamon bread that I remember as a kid. Unfortunately they were sold out. But they did have what they called Easter bread, which is s rich egg loaf, similar to Challah with red and golden raisins in it and the dough is lemon flavored. I bought a loaf of that and brought it home and made epic French toast with it! I highly suggest you do the same! I also tried their spinach pastry and "pizza" pastry, delicious! All the dough here just melts in your mouth without leaving a leathery film on your tongue which means it's real pastry made with butter! I have thus resigned myself to the fact that I will be gaining weight soon due to the frequency in which I plan to keep visiting this place haha!

I ordered six glaze, three jelly and three Boston cream. First of all, when I get home and open the box, there are six glazed and six jelly. The order was wrong. I started with a glazed doughnut, remembering how they were the best glaze ever. It was stale! I tried a second one to see if it was just that one doughnut, and that was stale also! The jelly was worse! The donuts were actually crunchy. Once again stale. It appears that they sell stale old donuts at regular price. I could see if I got there at three or 4 PM. But this was 8 AM, first thing in the morning. These donuts should've been extremely fresh. They were obviously made the day before and sold as fresh. Never again!

So much that I stopped by their shop on a late Sunday morning to a HUGE variety of donuts. They have vanilla based donuts in addition to cider donut. They've got vegan donuts and mishapen discount donuts. They also do too good to go as well as donate any left over donuts. I got the cappuccino and ginger cider donuts and a small coffee. I'll probably stick to their original as the glazes were a little too cakes on and sweet for my liking. Despite the sweetness, the ginger and coffee flavors did shine through... so for those who like sweet things -- this is amazing. In addition to donuts, they have hot apple cider and speciality coffee, tea and cider drinks! It's a cute space where I would love to sit at, drink some coffee and donuts with a book on a snowy morning.

I think they taste better putting in the microwave for a few seconds. They have all sorts of coffees too. They're open only from 7-1 everyday, and they can sell out of the popular donuts. When people are relaxed, they will stay longer and buy more things. I wasn't dealing with the porta potties- um, just no. I noticed lots of kids here and they had to go to the restroom. I enjoyed an apple cider slushee while picking fresh apples during a sunny fall day. We had to purchase a half-bushel bag. Mother Nature at her best! I tasted several varieties of apples in the orchards: Empire, macoun, mac, golden delicious, red delicious, Fuji and gala. The empires and the golden delicious are the best- tasting out of the different varieties available here. Take a look at my photos-- so serene and worth the drive up here from NYC! In hindsight, I should have taken a wagon and apple picking stick with me, but I was so happy with the slushee and just walking around, I wasn't really thinking about picking the best apples. As for the goodies I bought: Excellent apple pie with a short-bread type crust and tart but sweet apples. Very delicious and fresh! Seneca Granny Smith apple chips-- never tried this variety- tart and crisp. Apple Pastry stick: I say don't bother with this one. It left a coating in my mouth of greasy weird shortening. I bake my own apple pies with real butter and I don't get this kind of coating with my own pies: Not sure what they use here but don't get this. All in all, a great bakery and orchard.

Gracie's is an elevated diner experience...all the breakfast and brunch things you could want, but up a couple levels from a classic greasy spoon diner. Not dissing the greasy spoon diner experience...love that...but this is based in that historical experience, with an overall nicer experience in terms of food and atmosphere. Also, before we get into the specifics, here are 2 words which would bring me in from just about anywhere: Donut menu. Yes, they make their own donuts here, and that's enough reason to stop in, take out, or worship at the front door. We got our donuts to go after the meal...The coffee was GREAT. Too often, coffee, which should be the opening star of a diner experience, can be flavorless, browned water. Here it was good. Bold as I needed it to be, and the perfect foundation for the rest of the meal. My next go-to if they have it brunch experience is biscuits. They have them...you can get a biscuit on its own or, heck, go for a mini biscuit basket! I live for a biscuit-forward establishment. The Full Breakfast (submitting biscuit or potatoes for the meat) would have been my choice, but I decided to roll my own and ended up with a biscuit, fruit cup, and side of Hash Browns. The biscuit was good, large, and perfect with butter and honey. They make the hash browns to order - large hash brown patties - and with 2 different orders of them at the table, one was overcooked, too brown, and not impressive...but the other was perfect and delicious...bordering on potato pancake territory in presentation and flavor. Our server was fantastic...we had a large party encompassing 3 different tables in the middle of a Sunday morning (On Easter no less), which is, of course, the busiest time of the week. She was friendly, enthusiastic, and never made us feel rushed. If I found myself in the Hudson Valley again, Gracie's would be a definite destination for me.

We had no problems getting a table. However, when we left the place was packed. We ordered Water, Lemonade, Ginger Ale, Waldorf Salad, Grilled Cheese & Bacon and Waffles. The menu had all the basics. The food was average. No complaints. My Waldorf salad was very plentiful. I took the remaining portion home. Customer Service was pretty good. The luncheonette has plenty of parking. Gracie's appears to be a reliable place to stop in for a bite.
