Atmosphere (4/5): this is set in a super cute old farmhouse that's only a mile or so off the highway. The gift shop was cute (attached) with a wine cellar (free tastings) below. Service (5/5): Debbie was a fantastic waitress- friendly and prompt service! 5 stars! Food: (3/5): The menu isn't extensive but has lots of soup and sandwiches. We got the Rachel (rye bread, turkey, Swiss, thousand island, kraut) and the grilled cheese of the day (manchego, bacon, and fig jam). It l sounded great but the grilled cheese fell flat.

I read about Grapevine Farms on the Haunted NY FB page and figured I would stop in when in the nearby area. It's in a pretty isolated area but was not a bad ride from Latham. They have references to the haunted history throughout the store and restaurant but we didn't find anyone that wanted to engage about it so I'm not sure if you need to be there at a certain time for tours or the FB post was misleading by claiming employees will tell you stories as part of the experience. It definitely has a very haunted feel - especially upstairs in the shops there was a heavy atmosphere. The shops were fun but way overpriced. The sales woman who helped us was super nice but was really trying to up sell things like glittery jewelry that was just grossly overpriced so that was a bit of a turn off. I did buy a few items but you could easily break the bank, so to speak, as they do have many shops all over the property. The wine cellar was locked. You need to ask an employee to let you in. We were going to visit after lunch but that was such a poor experience that we just left. The cafe is okay. It was very busy when we were there in the early afternoon and they clearly need more staff. We ordered the salmon salad. This was very good. We also tried the barley soup special. Very bland. I had to add a fair bit of pepper and salt to make it taste like anything. I also ordered the quiche special of the day (along with a salad side). The quiche was so overcooked it was like scrambled eggs. I'm surprised they sold it like that with how overdone it was. My dining partner ate it as no one ever came back to check on us. We waited forever for the check. We even piled our plates up and tried to make contact each time any staff walked by and no one stopped. Finally, they were offering a nearby table dessert and remembered us and asked us for dessert but we just wanted the bill at that point. Overpriced, not great quality and way too long to sit there finished. I wouldn't ever return to their cafe.

My embarrassing wedding cake baked and delivered by Grapevine Farms.

TERRIBLE AND MORTIFIED! We had our wedding in the area and visited this cute shop while planning. We loved the deserts in the shop, and so decided to hire them for our wedding cake. The experience planning with Linda (the Baker) was delightful. Even the tasting went well. Unfortunately, the day of our wedding, the cake was an embarrassing disaster. It was the leaning tower of cake and honestly looked like it would fall over any second. It was so embarrassing to have to take a photo in front of it and cut it in front of our guests. We tried to call the business after our wedding to share our frustrations, and they didn't want to hear anything we had to say. In fact, they told me that not eh contract I signed it said that once the cake is dropped off, it's not their responsibility anymore. That's horrible customer service. I've baked cakes for special occasions for others, and I'd never have completely washed my hands of my product after dropping it off. Part of building a wedding cake is promising that it'll stand straight for the evening. Their work and response are disgusting and disgraceful. DO NOT work with them.

This country store has everything you could ever want - plus a delicious lunch and dinner menu. Outdoor seating is available weather permitting. Known for their chicken salad sandwiches this is a great place for lunch if you are in the area. Additionally, attached to the store is a winery that offers tastings. Service is exceptional and the meals are huge servings.

Every employee in this place was beyond nice and helpful. We were just passing through and came in for lunch and stayed for a wine tasting. It's got a little of everything, a jewelry shop, bakery, coffee bar and of course wine. I got the thanksgivingy turkey sandwich and my partner a salmon salad. Both very good and our waitress couldn't have been sweeter or more accommodating.

The bar tender, Noah, was impressive and friendly in that he knew his liquor stock very well, and could explain the flavor intricacies of the various types of bourbon, vodka, and gins. They also offer some non,-alcoholic beverages for the "designated driver" of the group too. We watched Noah make everything from regular and "dirty martinis" with fresh ingredients, as well as one drink where he used a butane lighter and some tiny cedar chips in a straining tool above the drink to give it a fresh, authentic smoky look and flavor. Noah knows his stuff!!!!! The patrons were friendly, diverse, and easy to socialize with if you chose to do so. The establishment is pet friendly for "socialized pets" with a water bowl outside the establishment and some free Milkbone treats inside. Keep in mind that this establishment is a "tasting room" with the majority of products from the New Scotland Distillery, but there are other options. Just don't expect to get a Bud Light Draft or food here. The only downside is that parking in the Lark Steet and State Street location is difficult to obtain without some effort, but we managed to park our vehicles 2 blocks away. This is not a direct criticism of the establishment because the experience is well worth this minor potential inconvenience. We would definitely go back there again, especially for the specialty drinks or the flights and half flights of their bourbon and vodka products. Thank you once again, Noah, for a pleasant and educational evening!!!

I especially love the Esperance location for its gorgeous views and the option to sit outside by a bonfire. The stunning views are matched by the fun, Nordic-inspired interiors. The decor, seating, and bar all add to the atmosphere, and even the bartenders fit right in! Service is great--they're so sweet and knowledgeable about the meads as well. As for the mead, it's absolutely delicious. I recommend trying a flight to sample the different flavors before picking your favorite for a full glass. I loved them all, but my top pick has to be Loki's Lure--a rich blend of coffee and cacao. Other favorites are the Heritage and Black Currant. The one thing I do wish the meadery offered is snacks. It would be nice to have something to munch on while enjoying the drinks. Beware of the mead though--it's so tasty and goes down so easily, you might find yourself tipsy before you know it!
