Have lunch here about once a month with my friend after we get our nails done. The multi floor gift shop is full of treasures for a special occasion or friend's birthday. Each room is themed, providing a plethora of options from jewelry to camping or Christmas ornaments. The restaurant has a basic old school menu that can be prepared in what I imagine is a limited kitchen. Soups, salads, wraps and sandwiches are usual fare. You can enjoy an iced tea, signature cocktail or wine with lunch. Have not visited their wine room but that's an option as well. Consistent food and friendly service. read more

Atmosphere (4/5): this is set in a super cute old farmhouse that's only a mile or so off the highway. The gift shop was cute (attached) with a wine cellar (free tastings) below. Service (5/5): Debbie was a fantastic waitress- friendly and prompt service! 5 stars! Food: (3/5): The menu isn't extensive but has lots of soup and sandwiches. I read about Grapevine Farms on the Haunted NY FB page and figured I would stop in when in the nearby area. It's in a pretty isolated area but was not a bad ride from Latham. They have references to the haunted history throughout the store and restaurant but we didn't find anyone that wanted to engage about it so I'm not sure if you need to be there at a certain time for tours or the FB post was misleading by claiming employees will tell you stories as part of the experience. It definitely has a very haunted feel - especially upstairs in the shops there was a heavy atmosphere. The shops were fun but way overpriced. The sales woman who helped us was super nice but was really trying to up sell things like glittery jewelry that was just grossly overpriced so that was a bit of a turn off. I did buy a few items but you could easily break the bank, so to speak, as they do have many shops all over the property. The wine cellar was locked. You need to ask an employee to let you in. We were going to visit after lunch but that was such a poor experience that we just left. The cafe is okay. It was very busy when we were there in the early afternoon and they clearly need more staff. We ordered the salmon salad. This was very good. We also tried the barley soup special. Very bland. I had to add a fair bit of pepper and salt to make it taste like anything. I also ordered the quiche special of the day (along with a salad side). The quiche was so overcooked it was like scrambled eggs. I'm surprised they sold it like that with how overdone it was. My dining partner ate it as no one ever came back to check on us. We waited forever for the check. We even piled our plates up and tried to make contact each time any staff walked by and no one stopped. Finally, they were offering a nearby table dessert and remembered us and asked us for dessert but we just wanted the bill at that point. TERRIBLE AND MORTIFIED! We had our wedding in the area and visited this cute shop while planning. We loved the deserts in the shop, and so decided to hire them for our wedding cake. The experience planning with Linda (the Baker) was delightful. Even the tasting went well. Unfortunately, the day of our wedding, the cake was an embarrassing disaster. It was the leaning tower of cake and honestly looked like it would fall over any second. It was so embarrassing to have to take a photo in front of it and cut it in front of our guests. We tried to call the business after our wedding to share our frustrations, and they didn't want to hear anything we had to say. In fact, they told me that not eh contract I signed it said that once the cake is dropped off, it's not their responsibility anymore. That's horrible customer service. I've baked cakes for special occasions for others, and I'd never have completely washed my hands of my product after dropping it off. Part of building a wedding cake is promising that it'll stand straight for the evening. Their work and response are disgusting and disgraceful. DO NOT work with them. read more

A stop as a birthday treat, we took advantage of the beautiful weather and the all-inclusive "experience" of Grapevine Farms. Did free wine tasting with Debbie, so informative and delicious wines. My fav was the Dry Reisling and the Blush. Then three floors of shopping for all kinds of goodies. Let's not forget the Bistro- a perfect spot for lunch, either on covered deck or dining room, since they are only open 11am-3pm. Tons of coffee drinks, ice cream and lunch options, even cocktails, made for a difficult choice! Sandwiches, quiche, soups and salads and hot meals along with daily specials and desserts, we chose a turkey panini with stuffing and cranberry aioli (side salad or chips/pickle are included) and a blt with the soup of the day (butternut squash and kale). A cosmo and iced coffee, too all spectacular! So much food we didn't do dessert - menu includes special cakes, homemade cookies and ice cream treats (sundaes, shakes and cones). There's nothing bad about this sprawling destination store and cafe. In fact, most is good to very good. There is a nice selection of merchandise in a pleasant environment. The food is quite good (though the locally famous chocolate jumble cookies underwhelmed me, but some folks are very fond of them.) I just didn't have any meal here that I ruminated in and couldn't wait to return to have again. I have made some favorite purchases on sales items and really appreciate those. The half Turkey BLT Club on Marble Rye was super awesome. Homemade hand sliced turkey with a perfect amount of everything else. It was a truly awesome sandwich. A beautiful oasis that I'm embarrassed I had no idea even existed! Came here with friends on the recommendation of someone in our group and was impressed by how easy it was to kill more than two hours here. We started by browsing around the gift store while we waited for the rest of our party to arrive. It was large and had a wide selection, but mostly seemed to be mass-market tchotchkes with a few local things mixed in. A lot of airport gift store jewelry and Crabtree & Evelyn toiletries that your grandma probably likes. The wine store was a real standout player. They sold all New York State wines, and while I usually don't like NYS wines, there were some tasty offerings, and we ended up buying several bottles before lunch. They were doing a tasting when we got there where you could try up to six wines. Most were kind of sweet for my taste, but there were drier ones were worth taking home. Lunch was enjoyable and affordable. The restaurant part wasn't too busy even for a summer Saturday afternoon. We sat outside on the terrace and enjoyed soups, sandwiches, and salads. I had a 1/2 a chicken salad sandwich with pasta fagioli which was a perfect portion and hit the spot. I also enjoyed a glass of the "Fireside Blush" -- not the best rose I've had by far, but certainly best savored with great company. Afterward, we took a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon we purchased and grabbed a few glasses to take to the lovely gazebo. It was a menu of items you could make at home, bare minimum, I'm talking 5-6 items. It was made by someone who was not an actual cook but probably someone's mom. My taco salad was 2 spoons of ground beef (how can someone be cheap about ground beef) with almsot all lettuce, a ton of olives Surrounded by tostitos chips. It was something I would be embarrassed to serve to my kids. I was starving but I barely got it down. Based on the food being served it's cooked somewhere else and just reheated. The service was abrupt, as soon as we got the food she asked if we wanted to-go containers. It was crazy. I would never go back and normally don't like to give bad reviews but the reviews posted are so misleading I felt it was my duty. read more

Well, what's to say except that this country boutique is adorable, charming, and warm with a roaring fire in the fireplace at the entrance. It's definitely a tourist stop, brimming with country crafts, scented candles, jewelry, skin creams, designer bags...just so much stuff. It's all priced in the upper region of moderate, but it's a nice stop to look around after a day on the road. There's a restaurant in the rear which we didn't try, but may in the future. read more

At Disney World you finish the rides and exit through the gift shop. At Grapevine Farm you enter through the gift shop. It is high-end and has two stories. So is it a restaurant with a gift shop or the other way around? Which is the dog and which is the tail? The restaurant first. We sat on a porch away from the noisey highway and next to a beautiful hill. My quiche-of-the-day had flaky crust and was hot and delicious. The side of coleslaw was generous and tasted like Beverly's, which is to say wonderful. Bev's taco salad had a good balance of seasoned beef, tomato, cheese, black olives and multi-colored tortilla strips. It didn't have a mound of cost-saving lettuce, (just the right amount) or meat-stretching frijoles. My review has more hyphens then her salad had jalapenos because none was available on request. Bev said her pie was great, but then she is a pushover for coconut. So was my lava cake, though admittedly I believe anything not chocolate represents empty calories. The women at the next table refused dessert, and their waitress said that they deserved a treat and should buy something at the sweet shoppe on the way out. She was the first of three delightful high-pressure sales persons. I'm not being sarcastic. The waitress and the saleswomen we're friendly and helpful. They were just pushy. I conclude that their language, but not their affect, is company policy. They were genuinely lovely people. They have a jewelry shop, a candle shop, a tea shop and a room full of Vera Bradley to Beverly's delight. Oops, the store has three stories since there is a wine cellar too. "They have fantastic stuff," Bev said. "It was a beautiful store." Does the tail wag the dog? I can't decide. But we will be back. read more

Boyfriend and I were in town to go to Cooperstown and we saw Grapevine Farms. This place was soo cute and quaint. I wanted to only stay there the whole time.
