Side Door Donuts

I hate to hate on restaurants, especially small independent businesses as they have enough to deal…read morewith just to survive without having a jackoff pontificate on what said jackoff feels. So take this in the spirit of constructive feedback guys. I tried to contact you directly but was told no one was available. I've been to side door donuts 3 times now but only was able to get donuts once. The first time I went I came too late, I didn't realize this was a side business run out the back of Billy and Pete's. They apologized but stayed firm, 20 minutes too late, sorry.. want a burger? Second visit, we made sure we were there shortly after opening time. Again we left donutless, is that a word? It is certainly a depressing feeling. As it happened, the donut machine was broken and they were waiting for a part. Weeks now. It was smack in the middle of Covid and I understood. I would have preferred that they updated on Google maps or something but what the hell, we had a nice 25 minute drive and hit up Duck Donuts instead. The third and last time was successful for Donuts but the experience was so bad I won't be back. Ever. The donuts are small. Like really small. And for $20 bucks total not worth it. They are good. Actually really good but my surprise, and embarrassment as I brought them to a friend's house as my contribution to brunch, 2 dozen bite size donuts equals 4-5 regular ones. Ok. Learned. But here's the biggest issue. After such a buildup trying to get these donuts, over the course of years, we were faced with the meanest, difficult person to guild us through our experience. She was older, unhappy, disinterested, unhelpful and just an ass. I stated it was our first time and not sure where to go as she yelled at us for opening the side door. There are no signs. Side door donuts.. you'd think you gotta go in the side door. Nope. I explained our buildup and excitement of finally getting here after our disappointing broken machine visit.. she said that the machine has never broken. I didn't want to argue.. I just wanted donuts. I asked what was popular and she said how do I know what you like and walked away without explanation. There was no menu. Finally she hands me something to look at but I'm already like F this. I said I needed to bring something for a brunch, she said 2 dozen but tell me which ones ... annoyed I replied whatever. I paid, no tip and when I got the box I didn't bother to look as I just wanted to put as much distance between her and I as quickly as possible, there was also a kids birthday party going on surrounding us so that also made me want to run. The donuts looked good and everyone at brunch laughed and said they were cute. No man wants to ever hear anything that starts with "aw that's tiny but cute". Donuts were good. We fought over who got what and there was definitely not enough. I wish the bitchy lady at the donut place explained what I was ordering as I never would have guessed 2 dozen donuts would be so unsatisfying. I would have bought 4 dozen had I known... So, donuts good, experience very bad. Too expensive for what I got and customer lost. Too many other places that want our money. Please do better.

Pretty good doughnuts. Their size is perfect bite size and they are just too adorable!read more

Glaze Donuts (Located in Madison Plaza)…read more358 River Rd. New Milford, NJ 07646 Maple Bacon Donut Ring Ding Donut Located in this mini strip mall is an independent artisan donut chain. They a diverse variety of gourmet donuts. The only problem I had was having to choose because I wanted to explore them all. These are a couple of the donuts I selected: Maple Bacon: Originally, I was hesitant about combining a breakfast meat with a pastry. As soon as I took my first bite, I instantly fell in love with this unique creation. It had a sweet and salt taste. If you decide to try the maple bacon, you'll have to wait until the weekend because it isn't available Monday through Friday. Ring Ding: This is identical to a Hostess Ring Ding. The inside is plentifully filled with chantilly cream. It is rich and very sweet; supplementing a glass of milk is highly recommended. There is a small dining area, which seats about 6-8 customers. There is a decent amount of parking in the front and back of the strip mall. If you have a sweet tooth, this is the perfect place. Overall, I had a "glaze day" at Glaze Donuts. #glazedonuts #glaze #ringding #ringdingdonut #maplebacon #maplebacondonut #newmilfordnj #donutshop

Only on their classic donuts but to my surprise all of the classic donuts were so good, although I did want to try some of their signature flavors too. This shop is small and has a couple of tables to sit down at. They have hot drinks available along with a fridge for cold beverages to purchase. The lady who assisted me was so sweet, so friendly and it was nice to come all the way from the city and be greeted with such lovely hospitality. She was working by herself and she had a couple of other customers waiting, but made everyone feel like a priority. She was a natural professional lol. The prices were quite pricey, which each donut flavor having its own price, my box of minis with tax and tip were about 40 bucks! Although I can't complain because I got a box free. I also can tell my donuts were freshly made with quality ingredients and the flavors are true to its donuts name. Although my visit was really for the banana foster, my favorite turned out to be the cannoli. They nailed that donut true to its original interpretation of what a cannoli is but made into a donut. My daughters loved the flavors of their selections although the strawberry cheesecake was a bit sweeter than she expected and liked. A bit overwhelming is how she put it. She would have been satisfied with just the mini size. Overall I think the next time I'm in town I may stop by for a half of dozen of minis because of the prices and because some flavors were better than others. I also wouldn't mind trying some of the signature donuts. So yes make a visit because it worth one. Two thumbs up and a Happy Yelping!
