Our first time dining here since it was Gregory's and it was amazing. I cannot say enough good things about the staff, every single one of them were fantastic. Very friendly and consistently checking in to make sure that we had everything we wanted. They definitely made the experience memorable. The food was delicious! We had the burrata, the crab spring rolls, the lobster ravioli, and the seafood Alfredo. Everything was great and we ate all of it, no leftovers! Definitely will be returning soon. Ordered the Wagyu Rib Eye special, which came out looking like it was steamed, and about 40% of it was fat, alone on a plate with no garnish and 2 small, mediocre side dishes. For all this, I was shocked when I received the bill, that they charged $150 for this piece of mediocre meat, if it was really Wagyu. The waiter never mentioned the outrageous price of this when reading off the specials. The cost might of been palatable (no pun intended) if it was actually good, but unfortunately it wasn't close. The other people at the table also made remarks on how unappealing the 'steak' looked even before we realized the price . The appetizers were ok and the waiter Eric was a nice guy I didn't want to make a scene while they were busy and just asked owner to call at a later date was pretty arrogant about the whole situation even though I wasn't even asking for any kind of restitution. Went last night for dinner. Hostess was great as well as our waitress Gabrielle and helper Daniel. Excellent atmosphere and vibe. Superb service. Now for the food- Delicious edamame dumplings appetizer. Dinner was sub-par. Scallops were sandy. Yes they were fresh but should be rinsed so you aren't crunching sand. Our new favorite place on LBI! So let's set the scene...it's Friday night in August...me and my SIL have no reservations and decided to take a chance and drive to see where we can get a table to two. Russos is closer for the season so I said...Dune 18! I've always wanted to try it. Luckily we go inside and they had a no show and were able to sit us right away at a table outside! Big win for us! All the food coming out from the kitchen looked amazing and we were super excited. The specials they offered were a great plus to the menu. As an app, we ordered the special crab & spinach dip that came with homemade chips. I am not one who likes crab and I LOVED this dip. My fiancé didn't believe me when I told him I loved it. I got the chicken dish for dinner and she got the skirt steak. Everything was great! Portions are large. Great fish selections on the menu as well. We were not rushed out which was nice since it was a Friday night and they were packed. And to top it off...it's a BYOB!! Service was great and food came out hot. We were amazed by our meal here today. Every dish was perfect! The appetizer, salad, soup, entree, and desert. I had butternut squash ravioli and hubby had the cod over bed of spinach. Just ate here again because we cannot stop going there - we took my parents from Florida and they cannot stop raving about their meals!!! - BUT I am writing this review to tell you DO NOT LISTEN TO THE NEGATIVES - not sure where they ate but it was not at Dune 18 - if you are unhappy here then don't eat out!!! Dinner at Dune 18 was an amazing experience! The owner and workers were all so nice and efficient. They had lovely short stories. If I could give zero stars I would. The owner is horrendous. Aggressive and so nasty to our table, which was a very high bill I might add. Asked us how our evening was going - food advertised on the menu was not available, our entrees took entirely too long to come out, bringing out a single dish at a time, steak was left cold on the table. 10 minutes + between the first and last dish being served. He didn't like that we were unhappy with truly rude service. Waving his fingers in our faces and hovering over our food, then walking around the restaurant talking to his 'usuals' pointing at us and laughing instead of making it right and taking accountability. We went for early dinner and our table was ready and we (7) were seated right away. Our server (I think Christian) was very nice and brought us our menus, water and very tasty fresh crusty bread. You don't have to ask for olive oil, they bring it with the bread. He came back and took our orders, I had Cesar salad and my wife beet salad. Although just a Cesar salad it was fresh, tasty shaved parmigiana cheese and homemade croutons. My wife said her salad was delicious. I had the Halibut over risotto in a cream sauce with shrimp, lobster, scallops, clams and mussels. Absolutely delicious. My wife had the Chilean sea bass in a mango sauce and loved it. After dinner we split a dessert. Never rushed, meal timed perfectly and hot. A meal like this should take 2 hours and that is what it was, perfect. I went there with a party of 8 on Saturday, September 17, 2022. We had reservations for 6pm. At 7:55 p.m. the hostess/owner came over with her ipad in hand and said to staff its 7:55pm and there are reservations for another party at 8 p.m. this table needs to leave now. Server came over mortified to explain what was going on. We were never told of a 2 hour time limit for dinner nor did we see anything posted about time limit. Also, we just finished dinner at that time and dessert was ordered and ready to be served. We asked the server to have the owner come over to our table wherein we explained what occurred and he indicated he would handle it and he did not handle it. Then the owner/hostess came over who was very nasty and actually tried to blame the server. It was not our fault that the food did not come out during her timeframe. Instead of coming over and advising us NICELY about an overbooking all we were told was you need to leave. Not one time during the course of our dinner did we actually see Ms. Nasty until she wanted us out!!! The server came over again visibly upset, mortified and embarrassed at the complete disgraceful way the owners handled the situation. Oh, the owner also told us that he has the best food on the Island! You may have good food buddy but your customer relations SUCKS! With that comment, all it solidified was you think you can treat people poorly because of that and people pay good money to eat at this place. It is very pricey. So not only did they ruin a lovely birthday dinner. This entire situation should have been rectified and handled properly before we left. The owners did not handle it properly at all! Now they have residents of Long Beach Island who will NEVER EVER EVER eat there again and who WILL NEVER recommend this place to any of their friends or family. read more

Had dinner last night and everything was great. Their chef does a terrific job with the menu. It's relatively limited but with good selections which helps keep everything fresh. We had the halibut and the pork chop which were very both good as well as the burrata. I would suggest maybe one additional desert option....maybe house made cheesecake. Last evening, seven of us went to Dune 18 Restaurant, 1916 Long Beach Blvd, Ship Bottom. It was for a birthday celebration. Following a lovely meal and paying our bill to the waitress, we were exiting the restaurant when we were accosted by the owner, Virginia! She directed her berating to me - accusing me of not leaving enough money! This being done at the front entrance of the restaurant with many patrons listening to her accusations. Virginia instructed the young hostess who was at the entrance podium to count the money with her. Soon after they started counting the money, the young hostess left and came back with cash in her hand - saying to Virginia, "I'm sorry. I didn't know there was more cash." ??!!! Virginia took the cash and walked away without apologizing to me for their mistake!! This is not good customer relations and certainly not the way to treat patrons of your establishment. Shame on Virginia for her bold and rude behavior and lack of manners to her paying customers! You can be assured that none of the ladies and their families who attended this evening will be returning to dine at Dune 18. read more

I cannot say enough good things about the dinner we had at Dune 18 last night for restaurant week! The food speaks for itself from the olive oil and bread served at the beginning of the meal to the dessert at the end. We had the shrimp tempura which was incredibly flavorful and the ricotta crostini which was sweet. The ravioli had ground veal and packed some heat with flavor. The pork chop is out of this world; perfectly cooked and has to be 3 inches thick! No room for dessert but took the red velvet cake home and took a bite and it was just as good as the rest. But on top of all the food what was most exceptional was the service. We were greeted at the door by the owner Virginia and brought right to our table. Our server and the busboy worked hand in hand abd we very friendly and personable. The owner Mark came to our table 3 times and introduced himself, got to know us, even brought an extra flat bread just so we could try it. By the time we left we felt like family and were completely wowed. We will definitely be back soon and can't wait to go in the summer! read more

Virginia and Marc keep improving the menu each time we visit. We have been regulars for the past 5 years and they never disappoint. In the spring, we did curbside but now have enjoyed outdoor dining with family and friends. Our experience at Dune 18 was nothing short of spectacular, especially considering the times we are living in with Covid-19. We had a large group and the owner was more than willing to accommodate us. The food was great, staff was friendly and the ambiance (great cafe lights strung throughout the outdoor area) was fantastic. Overall our meal was delicious. One complaint we ordered the cowboy steak which was a special. ( should have asked for price but waiter didn't give it and we didn't ask). When bill came the price was $90. On our way out we did say something to hostess about the price her comment was no one on the island tells you prices of specials. We told her the shock of $90 for the steak.Then she proceeded to say the waiters are told over $60 they should say the price. We were never told. Excellent restaurant the food was mouth watering we had ordered the lobster flatbread an tempura shrimp for an appetizer these were cook perfectly and a rating of A plus in taste!!! For our entrees we had stuffed shrimp its was great stuffed with true jumbo clumps of crab on top of a jumbo pink shrimp aka key west pinks! A plus again for taste. And for the tempura seafood platter that was a special that evening off the charts! Our server Kate was friendly and gave excellent service with a smile. Service 5 star from the hostess to the server (Leah) to the busboy, all wonderfully trained and attentive without being too overbearing. The standard menu offerings are superb and the specials are interesting. We had a large group of 9 that was easily accommodated via reservation secured early in the week. I went to restaurant week at Dune 18 tonight. Honestly, I have never left anything but a wonderful review on a restaurant post. My husband and I spoke to Virginia, the owner, twice before going Dune 18: The day that we made the reservation and the day that we confirmed it. On both occasions, she promised she could accommodate a vegetarian and somebody who had celiac's and was gluten free. She even listed a barrage of menu items that the person who is gluten-free could have. We arrived at the restaurant. Our table was not Ready. It was freezing cold outside and the restaurant is so small that you can't wait outside yet there is no place to wait inside. While we waited, I spoke to Virginia again about my daughter who has celiac's. She went over things that she could have for an appetizer and still promised her pasta, chicken, fish, etc. When we sat down to order the waiter looked at me like I was crazy and said we can't do any of that. I said well, we spoke with Virginia on three separate occasions, and she said you could. He went over and spoke to Virginia. And then. He came back to our table and said nope. We don't do any of that. My poor daughter, with celiac sat there with nothing to eat. She did order chicken teriyaki which had teriyaki sauce on it with gluten in it. She ordered a gluten filled appetizer and gave it to her husband. When her chicken did arrive, she cut into it and it was ice cold in the center and pink. She sent it back to the chef and it never came back to our table. My dinner arrived, which was supposed to be sliced flank steak Medium rare, and it was so red inside that it was cold. In fact, the whole meal was cold, the mashed potatoes, the string beans and everything. When the meal was returned to me, it had been stuffed under a broiler and all of the sliced flank steak was curled up on the ends, and looks like a three week old piece of meat. We got up to leave and much to our surprise, Had to pay a check for a party who had not eaten dinner. It was the worst food I ever experienced in a restaurant and I am no spring chicken. Don't go there. You will be very sorry. It is terrible. Virginia is a liar. read more

Awful service, hostess, and food. We had a reservation for 7:30pm and did not get seated until 8:15 even though we talked to and saw multiple parties who did not have a reservation (and were the same amount of people and more) get right in. This was of course annoying, but we continued to give the place a chance since we have had a great experience a few weeks ago. We finally get seated at 8:15 and did not get served anything until 9:00pm. Mind you there were 6 of us and we watched two other tables of more than 6 get seated, served, and leave before us. The entire time the hostess gave the dirtiest of looks and even talked about our table to other tables. (She would look and point at our table while talking as we overheard her.) After finally getting our food, it was absolutely horrible. First of all they had to change one of the meals due to running out of the main part (which would be totally fine but was just an added on part of this experience). The fish dinners were all over cooked and dry, and the steak dinners were very under done (did not want to send back due to not getting served for so long we did not want to wait more time). I will say that the sauces on the pasta dishes were absolutely amazing. (I think it was some lobster sauce) The other only positive parts were the one waitress we had after only meeting the original waiter once and the person who asked us about the water and took plates. (They were both very kind and actually came to the table more than once.) Overall, we would never come back here even though we live right down the street. We were here last year and food was spectacular. This year I'm a little disappointed they never answer the phones and they don't return the voicemails left in their machine for reservations. Called 4 days in a row, left vm finally 4th day got a hold of a person and she just said we always return calls you just didn't check your messages-she doesn't know who I am so I don't think she would know if she called me back and I do know how to check voicemail.
