I came in needing a huge fix and got a hair color correction ($250+tip but also depending on your hair). Prior before coming to Amra, I had already got my hair done at another beauty salon but it ended up looking blotchy and uneven (balayage). I had given all hope and trust into Amra with my hair. No big deal I'll catch up on reading. I had my consultation and she went to work. She gave me a perm and cut. It turned out ok. Not the best I've had but she still did a good job. I told her my goal was to eventually lighten my hair and when should I come back. She told me to book for 2 weeks. I returned and she had bleach put in my hair that she permed 2 weeks prior. Not color but bleach! I didn't know what it was when it was initially being applied by her assistant. I should have walked out when the assistant asked 2x if that was what she wanted to put in my hair without saying what it was. My hair now has thinning and has not grown back healthy as it once was. I spent almost $500 in 2 weeks only to have missing patches of hair that turned to straw. After my service her instructions were to make sure I get my protein treatments. Long story short ALL of my hair started to fall out within a week. By week two I had significant loss. I messaged her and instead of taking responsibility she proceeded by protecting herself by saying "I told you this probably wasn't a good idea." THAT WAS A FLAT OUT LIE! She is the professional why would I tell her what to do after being told it would damage my hair. She told me to book 2 weeks out. Better question is, why would she do it if she knew it wasn't a good idea?! Plain and simple GREED! Yes, I made sure to get a protein treatment but was told my hair was dead and needed to be cut all off. The only reason she was not sued is because of my barber Noah who said I should pray for her and chalk it up to a bad experience. His thought was not to destroy her business or reputation. I tried to let it go. I am all for supporting black businesses but SOME black business owners need to do better. The greed, the attitudes, and the over inflated prices need to be addressed. On the website regarding kinky Curly hair it clearly states the hair can be colored and bleached and I read this information before going into the store. I set everything up with Celondra and had my appointment set... the day of the appointment I get a text from Celondra saying the hair isn't taking the color... I'm like why not? It clearly says on the website the hair can be colored!!! I contacted Laura and so did Celondra regarding the hair she said well I told her the hair couldn't be colored! No that's not the information I was given because we never talked about coloring the hair or what I wanted to do with the hair! Laura has switched vendors because of COVID-19 this new hair is not good quality hair and can not be colored at all. Laura and Celondra are refusing to give my money back and haven't rendered any services at all. I've filled charges against Laura Purnell and Celondra Lewis for fraud and theft of services. Customer beware of this company... it's not the same vendor and she has failed to provide that information.

Her suite is Beautiful and very clean! I am a former stylist so I am Very particular about who I go to. I'm a 39 year old female who has had 3 children and lost a significant amount of hair the last few…read moreyears (likely due to hormonal changes from pregnancy and breastfeeding). I had tried everything short of Rogaine prior to making an appointment here (tried PRP, derma rolling, topicals from Insta, etc) because trichology felt too foreign of a concept to me. Looking back I'm sad for myself that I didn't come to Kerri sooner. In early 2023, she estimated that I lost probably 70% of the hair on top of my head. I signed onto her program to meet with her every two weeks for 6 months, she taught me about scalp health and keeping the body pH balanced, and she showed me how to care for my scalp and my hair and my body and to trust the process. After the first six month program is over I had made quite a bit of progress under the hair microscope and through photos that I wanted to continue another 6 months.
