My family and I went to Dumpling U for our friends graduation celebration, and we are so happy we did! This restaurant was 10/10, the food was amazing, the service was spectacular, and the environment was friendly and welcoming. Big shout out to Jocelyn for the amazing service!

I decided to try the new restaurant after hearing great things about their beef rolls. The pork soup dumplings, however, were a bit disappointing. The dough was undercooked in spots, still white even after steaming. I'd suggest skipping the spicy pork soup dumplings--they tasted like raw gochugaru (Korean chili flakes) was added directly to the pork filling, which was a bit overwhelming. The Shanghai noodles also missed the mark. The dish was dominated by pepper--either black or white--and came out very spicy. The pepper aroma was so strong it overpowered everything else. On the brighter side, I spoke to neighboring tables, and many enjoyed the fried rice and buns. Service was attentive, and there can sometimes be a wait for seating, so make sure to sign in on the waitlist. Parking is limited, so I'd recommend carpooling or being patient while searching for a spot. Overall, some hits and some misses, but there are a few standout dishes worth trying.

We have been wanting to try Dumpling U ever since they opened recently and were honestly impressed with how quick and satisfying the whole experience was. All of our food came out within about 5 minutes of ordering, which was impressive given how much we had ordered. We ordered a mix of dishes to try a little bit of everything. The House Special Beef Roll was a standout, crispy with a really nice beef-forward flavor that made it super satisfying and how I remember it tasting growing up. The classic Pork Soup Dumplings were decent, though the wrapper was a bit on the thicker side, and I felt like the pork filling could've used a little more seasoning to really enhance the flavor. The Pan-Fried Pork Buns were great, and I appreciated the heads-up from the staff that they come out piping hot and can squirt juice if you bite in too fast (they weren't kidding). Even better, they held up surprisingly well when reheated the next day. We also got the Dry Fried String Beans, which were super fragrant and flavorful, though just slightly on the salty side. The Honey Walnut Shrimp had huge pieces of shrimp with an extra crunchy coating, definitely a must order. And of course, can't go wrong with a side of white rice to have as a base for all our dishes. Overall, a great spot with fast service and a good variety of dishes. I'd definitely come back again and would recommend to anyone wanting to have authentic Chinese food.

Walked in and felt like I was in the Bay Area--simple modern interior, clean and bright. Loved being able to watch the dumplings get made by hand. Food was really good--best soup dumplings I've found in Fresno. Favorite dish was the spicy wontons. The scallion pancakes were very thin and crispy. I liked how they used udon noodles for the garlic noodle dish although I felt like the dish needed some veggies. Great looking menu with many things to go back and try. Service was friendly and easy going and extremely fast. Great if you are in a hurry but still want to sit down. Paid the bill at the counter and had to wait awhile for people placing to go orders. Plan accordingly.

Really wanted to love this place but they got the quality and the flavors all wrong. Starting the with XLB pork and crab - very bad flavor, low quality pork - with way too much fat. I know soup dumplings have fat but the soup pouring out of these is water mixed with lowest quality ground pork and the flavor is very off putting. The green beans tasted like the propane from the wok they cooked them on and the scallion pancake was super dry - they don't have proper napkins so I was forced to use 20 cocktail napkins as a substitute and they did not pack my to go box or ask if I wanted sides of sauce to go with my leftovers. Do better, sorry.

We went back during 'opening day'' to dine in. This is what we ordered; Honey Walnut Shrimp- very tasty! Wonton Soup- Pork wontons in a small amount of pork broth. I prefer chicken broth with LOTS of vegetables. This bowl had one or two pieces of seaweed in it. . . Eh. Har Gow; - Very good. The thinnest noodle I have seen YET for Har Gow! It had 'pin-tuck pleats' of noodle on top! (HOW do they DO that)?! Shrimp Fried rice- Delicious! Has a nice smoky (wok hei) flavor to it! Taro ice cream- Also delicious! I like their decor, dishes, blue and white condiment trays, staff and side room seating. But the combination of HYPER techno/rap music that was loudly playing, WRECKED THE ENVIRONMENT! I was looking at weary customers coming in from working all day, and small families just trying to have a peaceful meal. It's hard to have a conversation and relax when intrusive music is pounding your head. . . My question always is; is this music for the staff in the back? Or the customers in front? Next time will be takeout.

I really wanted to like Dumpling U. With all the hype, I guess I had pretty high expectations. We went on a Saturday evening and were seated quickly. Our server was very friendly and helpful. We ordered two baskets of the pork soup dumplings, cucumber salad, chicken fried rice, sichuan won tons then ordered the strawberry crepe cake, strawberry mochi ice cream, and custard buns for dessert. Pork Soup Dumplings: 7/10, they were good but not the best. The flavor seemed off, I don't know how to describe it. Cucumber Salad: 3/10, the cucumber had an odd texture and tasted like watermelon rind. The sauce and spice level were nice. Chicken Fried Rice: 6/10, it seemed oily and had an odd aftertaste. Sichuan Style Wontons: 8/10, I liked these the most but they still had an odd flavor, same as the soup dumplings. All of the desserts were good. Crepe Cake: 8/10, very light. Tasted like strawberry ice cream. Strawberry Mochi Ice Cream: This came on a plate with two mochis cut in half. I didn't have any but my son said they were yummy. Custard Buns: 9/10, these caught us off guard because they are custard but tasted like coconut. I do recommend these because they are fun for the kiddos. By the time we were finished up eating, the place was pretty packed and got a bit warm and loud. I might give them another try in a few months to see if anything has changed with the Yelp feedback.

Dumplings seem to be the new hot food in Fresno! We drove by this place for a couple of weeks before finally stopping by. The inside is pretty small, but nicely decorated. We came by on a weekday around 6pm and were seated immediately as a party of 4. The place filled up quickly and it was a full house by 7pm. Our server was nice and attentive. The menu was a good size with a variety of items. We decided to order the Shanghai noodles, green beans, sichuan spicy wontons, pork soup dumplings, spicy pork dumplings, and braised beef noodle soup. Everything looked great, but unfortunately, nothing stood out. It all just tasted okay. The biggest disappointments were the Shanghai noodles and the soup dumplings. The noodles were completely bland and the soup dumplings may or may not have been undercooked. The pork was pretty pink and turned us off. The best item for me was the sichuan spicy wontons. They had decent flavor and were cooked well. Overall, I'm not sure we'd be back. They did still have signs up that they were in a soft opening phase so I may come back for another go to see if they've sorted everything out.

Dumpling U is the new hotness! My husband and I came around 630 on Saturday and the restaurant was packed! We had to wait about 45 minutes before seated. Pro-tip for the future is to join the wait-list on Yelp ahead of time. Dumpling U is a small chain and we're so thrilled to have another noodle and dumpling option in Fresno. For just the 2 of us, we ordered seafood Shanghai noodle, chili wontons, and crab/pork xiao long bao. Everything was really tasty, with my favorite being the Shanghai noodle. Part of it is nostalgia for me-- that fat noodle well-flavored with that perfect soy sauce color and fresh seafood (bay scallops, shrimp, and squid). The chili wontons were a close second, filled with pork and shrimp and drenched in chili oil. The XLB was a bit lacking in crab flavor and also has a thicker wrapping than usual. If you let sit for too long (like 10-15 minutes), the wrapper dries out a bit. Stellar food! Tasty and can't wait to come back!

The flavors are BOMB. Crab soup dumplings and pan fried buns were amazing. Will return time and time again. Especially for some garlic noodles

So good! Really enjoyed it, and food came out very quickly and hot! Our server Cody was super nice! Everything was clean and nice!

Ambiance & service were fine. ORDER: Soup Dumplings (good, nicely soupy. $15 for 8) Char siu bao (ok, but not special. $11 for 3, pricey) Golden Shrimp Balls (very tasty & crispy. $13 for 3 a bit pricey) Pork shu mai (flat out bland, tough, & disappointing. $9 for 4, pricey) Scallion pancake (good, but basic & small. $9, pricey) Garlic Bok Choy (average. $14, pricey) Pan fried dumplings (good. $14 for 8) Pan fried pork buns (didn't eat yet, took home. Arrived really late. $15 for 6) $107 later (before tip) & I wasn't impressed & felt like my money was better spent at their competitor, Jingle Bao. JB is a slight bit cheaper (almost negligible) but quality, flavors & ambiance were better. Their garlic bok choy was more garlicky ($1 cheaper), soup dumplings were just a bit better, scallion pancake was the same ($1 cheaper), etc. This was definitely fine, but the value isn't there. Jingle Bao will get my business again.

This place honestly surprised me considering it's been popping all over my TikTok! We ordered the Cheese Wontons, Garlic Broccoli, Pork XLB, Beef Roll, Sichuan Wonton, and Cha Siu Fried Rice. This was definitely enough food for a party of 4! I personally loved the Pork XLBs. I felt like the Sichuan Wontons could be spicier and maybe adding a Mala kick to it would make me want it more. Beef Roll is pretty good but more in the drier side so maybe a bit more sauce would be better. The cha siu fried rice and cheese wontons were pretty good. I grew up eating these so not much really stood out. The garlic broccoli took me by surprise! We got it as a fiber dish but I really love how umami it was plus the texture of the broccoli was soft yet crunchy. Overall, pretty good! I would personally just get the XLBs but would love to try other items next time!

Wanted to give this place a shot because it's close to my new work place and really enjoy it!…read more It's attached to the Tea Shop, which you have to walk through first to get to the restaurant. You'll then have to wait to be seated at the register. I think this set-up is kind of awkward but hey, at least they have cute sidewalk seating. There are plenty of tables and long benches to sit at and the restaurant itself feels clean and well-lit! The staff are super helpful also. Tried the House Special Beef Pho and it was pretty tasty! You do have the option to order your dish with regular thin noodles, flat noodles, or egg noodles. The broth is basil-y and the flavor has great depth. They have a self-serve station for condiments where you can grab some chili oil, jalapeños, bean sprouts, and lime. My favorite thing about this restaurant is that I don't feel too bloated after eating here (compared to other pho restaurants). Been enjoying this restaurant and eating here at least once a week!

It's been a minute since I've been back here... I heard they remodeled? But idk what changed lmao I…read moreguess it's been that long since my last visit (it hasn't been a full year yet, fyi). My memory is shot. I don't want to be handing out 5 stars so easily but I think they deserve it. The restaurant is very clean, and I love the little Asian lanterns they have, all different, above each table. Plenty of seating. When we got there (a little after 5), there was only one other table occupied... by the time we left (6:30), every table was nearly taken. Our waitress, as well as the other on the floor, were both very welcoming and friendly. They handled the service remarkably as a team. The fact that they were a packed house and still were very attentive with us, checking how we're doing, checking on our water refills... these are the little things I appreciate most (and, of course, good food). I got the Pho with the Fatty Brisket, my friend got just the Steak Pho. They have a bar against the wall with all garnishes you may need to grab what you'd like. This is pretty smart... It saves them from waste. Instead of giving people items they may not use-- they would just grab what they'd like themselves. My friend grabbed her goodies, I prefer mine as is. To me, if your broth is good and doesn't require me to flavor it... I'll eat it just like that (unless I feel like adding spice). I've only ever been to a few other Pho places where I had to season up the broth myself...definite no no for them. All my friends who have gone out to eat Pho with me know I eat it just how I get it. Pho from my Mama is a different story though... I put the works (not because it's not flavorful) but, it's just different. Moving on... They also have a Teazona in their establishment. I've tried a few different drinks in the past but came to regularly deciding on the Tiramisu Milk Tea (no flan for me, light boba). Make sure to shake it well. You can also let them know your preference on the level of sweetness. We both got this tonight and it nearly tipped me over on the full scale. Couldn't finish it. Everything was really good though. Pho was the perfect choice for this weird, gloomy weather we've been having. The price is a bit up there but that seems to be the norm everywhere nowadays. But-- for the portion, the quality, and the service? Worth it.
