Delicious, seared & steamed & soup dumplings too! They are great, but nothing too crazy. Just a good cheap stop in or sit down spot. Nice employees. 6 dumplings for 8.50, cash only. Not the biggest place but they have seating, they do have an atm on site, also have a bathroom. read more

More of a 3.7/5 Cheap eats, big dumplings and freshly steamed to order. I really appreciate watching them stuff each dumpling. Great spot to grab a bite or after a night drinking when you don't want burgers and fries. Soup dumplings had a nice broth and filling, don't need much besides the complimentary soy sauce they give. Pork dumplings was my favorite as it is anywhere, also great filling and good with the soy sauce. The shrimp filling also had corn, this one was ok/good but the Asian tahini sauce made this absolutely lovely The tahini sauce was 5/5. It's exactly like peanut sauce you'd dip spring rolls in This is a nice cheap eats to add to a food crawl day :) read more

STEPH JUDGEMENT: A cute mom and pop dumpling house with the goods. We got the tip about this place from some friends so had to try it! It's a long narrow space with more indoor seating than you'd expect looking at it from the outside. The dumpling man himself was hard at work behind a glass partition while his friendly wife manned the register. We opted to get the 6 count of the two veg options, steamed. The dumplings were generously sized and delicious, with various flavorful tofu, mushroom, and veg fillings--definitely winners. We went with the monster sauce for some kick. It's nothing groundbreaking, just some good, simple dumplings. read more

This is one my old school fabss. No frills and great food I got steamed veggie onea with a side of their green curry sauce. They changed their recipe from a decade ago and at the point, it used to be fave green curry in the city, picture that. Now it's got those Singapore curry undertones. read more

I had been SUPER EAGER to try this place however I was left pretty disappointed... the dumplings were mid at best. Flavor was meh and they were falling apart. Not fun at all. read more

SERVICE - located off of st marks place in east village - limited indoor seating at counter - open late on weekends - the front desk lady was kind and accommodating when we asked about the vegan options - food takes a while to be prepared - no restroom available - cash or Zelle only MENU - dumplings with differing protein choices and optional sauce add ons - vegan/vegetarian options available - well priced ($12 per person) FOOD - steamed vegetable dumplings with green curry sauce (8/10): tofu, mushroom, jicama, and bokchoy in a thick wrapper. We chose to get some steamed and some seared so that we could try both variations. I preferred the steamed one because the seared did not stay crispy for long after we started eating. The filling had a nice bite from the crunchy jicama and the chewy tofu. I really liked the sauce with this as it was light yet flavorful. - vegan wontons with hot monster sauce (7/10): tofu, watercress, and shiitake mushrooms steamed in a thin wrapper. My main complaint with these dumplings is that the wrappers stuck together which made it difficult to enjoy each piece as a cohesive dumpling. I liked how the filling was different from the other vegetable wonton and had some greens for freshness. The sauce on this was a delicious balance of sweet, salty, and a bit spicy. WOULD I GO BACK? Yes! It is a great fast option, especially for a late night meal. read more

Really good dumplings for a great price! The dumpling itself are pretty fat. Good to get 6 if you're hungry but don't want something super filling. Get 10 if you're really hungry. Either way, you'll be satisfied by the end. Service is good and restaurant looks like fast casual. You can see them make the dumplings right in front of you which is really cool. Be careful if you have allergies, I got the tahini side sauce and I'm pretty sure it was peanut butter with no tahini. read more

Located at 100 Saint Marks Place the Dumpling man use to be the spot to go for inexpensive great dumplings....I am going to stress the words "use to be", they were good dumplings at the price point and definitely will satisfy your late night cravings if you do not want to venture into Chinatown. I ordered the pork dumplings steamed (you can get seared as well). The pork was well seasoned and plentiful with a nice juice that accompanies it inside the dumpling. It was not knock your socks off delicious but again at the price point in the area it will scratch the itch. read more

Extremely freezing night that my friend and I decided to drop by Dumpling Man in order to get a quick bite. Choose the type of dumplings, # of pieces (either 6 or 10), for here or takeout, seared or steamed, and lastly to pay with cash or zelle (no credit/debit cards allowed). All the food items are either written on the wall with the prices included or everything's listed on the menu. Staff is patient and friendly plus provides fast service to customers. Ambiance wise: Homey and warm that we didn't want to go back out into the cold again after we'd finished eating. Hard to miss the seating area which is in a splash of neoclassical bright orange. You can watch fresh food being made as the elderly lady in the back wrapped the meat up along with the soup cube inside the thick skin of dough to form the final product of a soup dumpling. Your meal will be ready in 10-15 mins as it's made to order. They've a tiny restroom stall for customers in the back of the dumpling shop. And, what I mean by tiny.....literally your nose is touching the wall on the right as you try to turn around and hold yourself without stumbling and falling into the toilet! As we got the food when they called us by order # on the receipt, we quickly brought our food back to our seats and started chowing down the scrumptious dinner right away. Of course, you know that the camera gotta eat first so we took a few quick shots first from different angles. Both of us had ordered the 10 pieces of soup dumplings for $13.55. I would say that the pricing is pretty reasonable within East Village and Manhattan in general. Love that the dumpling skin was thick enough even though I know that most people would actually prefer it to be thinner in texture. Not me, I'm completely the opposite!!! Love the doughy texture the best whenever I take a huge bite out of any sort of dumplings! The meat filling was plenty and fulfilling so it was definitely enough as a full meal. When you tried to pick it up with your chopsticks, the soup from the inside would often spill out before you even got to take a bite. The soup inside the dumpling was only warm and not hot enough for the temperature wise in my opinion. That is my only suggestion about the soup dumplings, otherwise everything else was great!!! Last but not least, did I mention that Dumpling Man even sells their own merchandise? C'mon....go check it out right now! read more

These were the worst dumplings I've had in New York, perhaps anywhere. Soup dumplings came out piled up and broken with no soup inside. Even the one or two that weren't broken had no soup. How can you call these soup dumplings? I also ordered the seared shrimp dumplings. Mostly dough with one tiny shrimp and some corn inside. Who in their right mind is giving this place a high rating when there are such good places to get dumpings in the area? Who cares if they make them in front of you when they are bad dumplings that make you feel sick afterwards? I regret going here. Spend a few dollars more and get tasty dumplings at the dozens of places in the city that know west they're doing, like Joe's Soup Dumpings and Nan Xian. read more

Cash or Venmo only. ATM available inside the shop. No idea why people rave about these dumplings. Maybe because this place is open till the wee hours of the morning, feeding drunk and hungover partiers of St Mark's Place. Staff are quick and efficient, so props to them--they're the only saving grace of this place. Tried soup dumplings, steamed pork dumplings, and banana dumplings and was unimpressed to say the least. Tough, thick dough--not how I like my dumplings. Filling was bland and tough. Soup dumplings barely had any juice in them. Banana dumplings were the better ones out of the three options we got, because they were mild in flavor (honestly expected a brighter burst of taste), barely sweet, and the dough wasn't as thick. You can find better dumplings in the dense, restaurant-filled area. read more

Excellent seared pork dumplings - personally not a huge fan of the chicken ones, but they're definitely not bad at all. This place sells delicious, fresh and handmade dumplings at $8.75 for 6 solid sized pieces. I love splitting a 6 piece with my partner, it's a perfect amount of food when you don't want a whole meal but need more than a snack and it comes out to just over $4 a person, which is cheaper than a bag of chips. The space is calm and there is some casual seating. The service with quick, and I love that you can see the ladies making the dumplings in the kitchen. Thank you! read more

I leave reviews sparingly, for exceptionally good or exceptionally bad experiences. This was the last time in recent memory I have thrown out food. These are not really dumplings in any traditional sense. Steamed shrimp dumplings have tiny cuts of shrimp, dumpling wrapper and corn as filler. Really disgusting. Pork dumplings have thick paddies of compressed pork inside. So dry even though they're steamed. Soup dumplings are thing like pizza crust, not Chinese style, more like Georgian/soviet, but not good at all. Again, hockey puck of pork inside, like a rock in your stomach. I threw away 60% and just had sleep for dinner instead. Avoid, plenty of other choices for cheap food. read more

Cold night walking from bar to bar and decided to stop here for some soup dumplings. When we got there it was empty but soon enough there was four other people waiting. Dumpling Man - Six Soup Dumplings - Dim Sum Near Me - New York, New York

I ordered steamed Sampler Dumplings and Soup Dumpling. The Sampler comes with options of 6 or 10 dumplings. I ordered 10, hoping they would be nice! It had 2 chicken, 2 pork, 4 shrimp and 2 vegetables dumplings. The soups dumpling was stuffed with Pork and chives with chicken soup in it. The food was so average, the dumpling dough was pretty thick, so leaves a lot of dough to chew on, although the good part was the stuffing was in good amount and had a nice taste. The shrimp one has corn as well in the stuffing, I could not really taste chicken in the chicken one! Vegetable one was not to my liking! Overall, I think I had higher expectations from this place, I have had much better ones so was let down. read more

Dumplings weren't that great. I ordered a chicken soup dumpling and pork dumpling. I picked it up and when I got home, the bag was drenched in (what I thought was sauce) the soup of the soup dumplings. Only found this out when I tried eating those dumplings and they were completely dry. I don't know how that happened at all bc I kept the bag straight up the whole time.. but very strange at all the soup dumplings were completely dry. The dough of the chicken soup dumplings was a little chewy and the top seemed a little raw in my opinion. The pork dumplings were also pretty thick. Cant deny this is a block of meat filling though. read more

OVERALL: Oh, wow. Absolutely delicious and authentic handmade dumplings. FOOD: Gotta start with the star here. The dumplings, obviously. We ordered the soup dumplings, pork dumplings, shrimp dumplings, and the braised pork sliders. The soup dumplings were the crowd favorite with rich and flavorful broth and a delicious wrapper. The dough here is thicker than your usual dumpling, but I love that. I like that it has some chew to it and is denser and doesn't just rip. The pork dumplings are a classic filling and we got them seared so the bite had that nice crunch to it. The shrimp dumplings are so unique because they have corn in them as well which I enjoyed! The shrimp wasn't minced up small and felt meaty. The pork "sliders" (they are on the bao buns) had the most tender pork that melted in my mouth and the cucumber gives it that freshness. ATMOSPHERE: It's a small location so be sure to grab a seat if you see one open. It's a hole in the wall and I loved that you were able to see them make the dumplings right in front of you. From the creation, all the way to steaming and searing! PRICE: it's priced well at $11.95 for 10 dumplings. I will also note here that it's cash only. SERVICE: Be prepared if it's busy for a little bit of a wait but nothing crazy. read more

The cashier claimed that my first payment on Zelle did not go through and charged me again for the same meal. Later I saw that my first payment had gone through, so I got charged twice. They did not make any money to return the money to me. Not accepting anything besides cash or Zelle in 2025 is already unacceptable. Using Zelle to commit fraud is even worse. The dumplings here were good, but nothing spectacular. I got the seared shrimp dumplings which were pretty good. The flavors inside were nice and the texture of the dumpling was crunchy, which I enjoyed. I ordered the banana dumplings because I was so intrigued. Intrigue gone. They were very banana-y but so sweet it was almost too much. The banana flavor was too overpowering. The woman working the front desk was not very nice. It's cool how you can watch how some of the dumplings are made, but I don't think I'll be coming back anytime soon. read more

THICC dumplings. Sometimes that's something I want in a dumpling sometimes I prefer thinner dumplings you can get at other places, but they are always well filled. I like to get the veggie options- one order seared and one steamed. The wait is sometimes longer than I'd like but how much can I actually complain when we're talking like 15 minutes. They obviously have a lot of delivery orders. One order is definitely a good amount of food but I always get two bc I'm a little fatty when it comes to dumplings. They give you a good soy based sauce I like to get 2 of per serving so I can be sauced up. CASH ONLY is important to remember. read more

My friends and I stumbled upon this place around 2AM, and the owners were simply the kindest people. I don't believe it's advertised anywhere, but after a brief chat with the owners they mentioned that they open until 3AM on the weekends... they truly are serving the late night dumpling cravings. Otherwise, they open until 9PM on the weekdays! If this is your first time here, I highly recommend ordering the sampler. As someone who is indecisive and wants to try everything, the sampler is a great way to try six of their dumpling options. The dumplings are freshly made, and you can watch as they make your order. I will say that I've had better dumplings elsewhere. However, if you're craving late night comfort food, or want to support small family businesses... this is the place to go!
