Our family and friends have been eating at the DUMPLING KING, 6515 Westheimer Road, Houston, Texas 77057, (713) 266 1468, for many years. We have enjoyed their dumplings for dine-in and take-out. However, I felt compelled to share our family's experience today, 11/27/21, that lead up to our decision to NEVER return to their restaurant.
As we frequently dine here, the ladies who handle the dining room know us. One particular lady, who could be the manager or owner, is most always working. Regardless, all the ladies are ALWAYS unpleasant and extremely rude. To date, we have overlooked their rude behavior but today was the final straw.
One of the glass condiment jars Dumpling King FREELYplaces on their tables at dine-in is fresh chopped ginger. We have placed to go orders where we have ask for extra fresh ginger, for which we have ALWAYS advised we will pay extra.
Today, I had 5 left over dumplings and asked for a large to go box. Instead, this lady manager or owner brought a small Styrofoam to go box. I attempted to tell her the larger to go box would allow me to separate the dumplings from my LEFTOVER chopped ginger still in my dinner plate. Obviously my left over ginger could not be reused and would only be trashed. Both ladies refused to give me a larger box.
This lady manager or owner at the register rudely stated we would need to pay for MORE ginger. We repeated we did NOT WANT more ginger; we were merely taking what was left in our plate from lunch.
This manager or owner got ruder and louder stating we were not going to pour the remaining ginger in the glass condiment jar into a larger to go box. She blurted out she was adding a $3 charge to the bill for the extra ginger. My daughter attempted again to advise we were NOT taking anymore of her fresh ginger but ONLY what was left on the plate from lunch. My daughter also informed we were not paying an additional $3 for ginger that was left over from our dine-in meal. ATTACHED IS PHOTO OF LEFTOVER IN SMALL BOX.
After loud arguing in two languages, she reluctantly removed the $3 charge. Upon signing the credit card receipt, my daughter advised we had been long standing frequent customers but would never be returning again. This lady manager or owner's response was, "That's good we don't want you here. Don't come back."
Over the years, we have observed the manner in which these ladies rudely speak to their customers in person, over the phone taking to go orders and even responding to a customer's question(s) on a menu item. Restaurants thrive not only on their food but also on EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE,which you will NOT receive at this DUMPLING KING.
This DUMPLING KING is NOT the only restaurant in Houston featuring dumplings. I do NOT recommend anyone dine at this restaurant and experience the disrespect and rudeness we have witnessed over the years, from their wait staff, manager and/or possible owner. read more
