Okay! This place is amazing! I saw them on someone's list of places to try and I'm so glad I did. It's a bit of an unassuming space. There are a few tables and some bar seating. But the dumplings are amazing. The staff are super friendly and the food comes out pretty quickly. We had the beef and the mushroom dumplings. They have great flavor and the sauce is a show stopper. I even bought some sauce to take home. We also got the rice side and the cucumber salad. I almost bought more to go but I needed to pace myself for other eating that day. Definitely come here! You won't regret it!

Their menu is pretty limited but had both veggie and non veggie options so we got one order of each and took a seat while waiting. The dumplings came out piping hot which was great to know that they were freshly made! That being said, they were a little too crunchy for our liking and the sauce was spicy without much flavour unfortunately. It was a great little snack but I wouldn't recommend this spot for a full meal since one portion is pretty small!

Happy hour $12 beer and dumplings or bao. Both very delicious. Can't go wrong for $12. Would definitely go again.
Came here with high expecations and boy did this miss the mark. We were in Victoria for just a few days, and this was on my checklist as a highly recommended place. The dumplings were over-fried and perhaps with oil that should have been changed. The flavors of the sauces were also just all right, and too salty if anything. For the price, I absolutely expected more.
Pretty good stuff, however and I know this is preference based so I am so very sorry but it was a little spicy for me and gave me some evil heartburn after and everything had cilantro. That isn't why it's getting a 3 though, I just found it sort of average. Pretty small portions, not the cheapest ever, mango sticky rice was just buttery rice with mango and I like it to be sweeter and heavier on the coconut. But I will say service and ambiance was great and I can see myself popping back in on a late night for a little snack.
Very cute small dumpling shop. Can even take away frozen to make later. Have a bar counter , local beer & wine and we were Happy Hour! It really was SO tasty- the Chili sauce had just the right amount of kick! Hace vegan dumplings as well!
Based on the Yelp reviews, I wanted to try this place. Had we not just enjoyed some terrific Korean Fried Chicken just before I would have been tempted to order more. But on a tip from a customer, we got the special of 5 dumplings and a small glass of Sapporo for $10 C. When you factor in the exchange rate, that's $7.50! Totally reasonable for a tasty snack. I wouldn't say the dumplings were to die for. I'm not used to deep fried ones. They were hot and crispy, though, and arrived just about instantly. Super hot! They were a little awkward to eat because of their 'fried ball' shape but they were even harder to eat! They came with this super flavorful chili sauce that I couldn't get enough of, but it did make this little buggers tough to pick up. I didn't find the pork filling to be anything special. Wasn't bad but wasn't spectacular. They also had Lemongrass chicken available, but since we only did one order, we didn't try those. I think, if I come back, I'm going to grab some of the frozen ones to cook up on the boat. And you can be sure I'll try multiple flavors and make sure there's plenty of chili sauce!
Decided to stop in here to grab a quick bite while exploring around Victoria. I'm glad we did, they had a great special that was dumplings and a beer and it was a warm day. We got the order of pork belly dumplings and the beer. I haven't really had dumplings like this before but my wife had, so I was pretty excited. This place didn't disappoint. The chili oil that was on these and gave them a pleasant kick. They were nice and full and cooked so nicely. They held their shape and they didn't get soggy. The filling was delicious and juicy. It was a great little shop with friendly people and a great special. I wish we could have bought some of the dumplings to take back with us, but we didn't have a cooler.
It was our first visit to Dumpling Drop. The dumplings and chilli sauce were delicious. We ordered vegan dumplings. Casual and comfortable ambiance. We weren't expecting the dumplings to be fried. The dumplings were crisp and full of delicious tastes. They also sold some of their frozen dumplings to go.'This restaurant is ideal for a fast bite. The hostess at the register was pleasant, provided great service and served our meals quickly. Highly recommend Dumpling Drop. We shall be back!
Dumplings dumplings all day every day! Love the crispy goodness and that sauce wowzah! We also had the crispy chicken Bao - soft moist pillows of yumminess! We ordered ours to take out so we could eat on the go while touring around Chinatown. Great service - the young lady graciously brought out our order as soon as it was ready ( only a 15min wait!) Highly recommend stopping in!
My girlfriend and I were staying down the street and came across this spot in Chinatown across from Market Square. It's pretty small with maybe three tables and bar seating. In total I'd say the restaurant can seat around 20 people max. We ordered the Vegan Dumplings and Pork Dumplings. Both orders were actually not what I expected. I'm used to having steam or pan fried dumplings. These seemed almost deep friend since the wrap was fully crisp like a deep friend Wonton. Still good though and I'd order them again. Both came in like a spicy hoisin/peanut sauce. Overall it's worth a stopover for a quick bite. Their apparel is really cool and I would have bought something if there wasn't any labelling on the back. I just wanted something that said Dumpling Drop in the chest.
This was a little gem that we accidentally found. The restaurant is pretty small with only a few tables but the food is the star. The single staff member out front was really nice & had great recommendations - which is why we ordered one of everything! We tried all the dumpling varieties, the cucumber salad, & some rice recommendation that I still don't know what it was but it was amazing. These little babies were delicious, somehow perfectly crispy, so flavorful, and shockingly not too salty or overseasoned. The cucumber salad was different than we are used to but really good. If they recommend the rice, just order it. It was really good and wish we ordered one more order. My favorite dumpling was actually the classic vegan! Try them out! read more
Got the deep fried mushroom dumplings here, and they are definitely affordable, but not the most flavorful. Came out super quickly. Had to wait a while for someone to acknowledge us when we talked in to take our order. Some tables inside to eat, although we did takeout and ate walking down government street. read more

I wanted to like this place so much more .. fried dumplings were so over cooked, the Bao was good (chicken was a little dry but bun and slaw was tasty) and sake was yummy too! Wouldn't order the dumplings again though. Great, quick service for dine in read more

Heard about this place through social media so I really didn't know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised as to how good the food was. They had an issue with some of their equipment so we couldn't try their Bao's but the dumplings and sides that we tried were delicious! If you're in Victoria, BC and want to grab a quick bite for lunch, Dumpling Drop is your spot! read more

This was the best lunch I had while I was in Victoria. The sticky mango rice, might have been the best rice I've ever had. The dumplings had a chili sauce on them and were fried. We also got the raspberry creamsicle pop and it was everything I wanted it to be. I'm going to dream about this place. If you're in the area, you should 1000% swing by. read more

We came across this place while strolling in China town. The menu is very limited with only few options for dumplings so we were hoping they would do those few things really well. We got 5 pork belly and 5 shrimp dumplings. First the dumplings were fried which is fine , we have had fried dumplings before and they can be good. The dumplings came covered in a red sauce, the sauce itself didn't taste anything special plus it over powered everything. I could hardly tell which one was pork and which one was shrimp as they both tasted almost the same. I prefer juicy dumplings and this was just mediocre. read more

My girl friends and I went on a 4-day Victoria trip last month and we tried Dumping Drop for dinner one night because we were really craving dumplings and especially a comforting asian meal. For those of you who don't know, Victoria and basically the entire Vancouver Island is pretty much white-dominated and extremely not culturally diverse (trust me, I know - I grew up on Vancouver Island and lived there for 18 years) so it's tough to find good/authentic asian food. We found this place while strolling around Chinatown and gave it a go. We all ended up ordering the same thing - we always think alike. That's why we're all friends though haha. All three of us ordered one bowl of chilli pork belly dumplings along with some deep fried chicken wings. To keep it short, we were highly disappointed. Nothing about the food tasted authentic and I was extremely disappointed in the way they were executed. I would not come here again and would not recommend to anybody if you're looking to eat authentic asian dumplings. This was nothing we expected and I'll tell you why: pork belly dumplings When we got our dumplings we were kinda shocked - they had deep fried them and the skin was crispy and not in a good way. They were so incredibly hard that it made chewing them extremely difficult. I had difficulty in chewing this because it hurt my mouth so much. The filling was ok but the way the dumpling was prepared really turned me off. The chilli sauce on top wasn't even chilli, it tasted like sriracha only, which was even more disappointing and unoriginal. If I could rate this, it'd be a 1/10 - I would never order this again. It would have tasted WAY better if they were to just steam or boil it. Granted, it was probably our fault because we didn't read the part of the menu where it said deep fried dumplings. I just never expected to have them deep fried to the point where the skin was so hard and inedible and it was never really how I ate them growing up and tasted super inauthentic. deep fried chicken wings This was the only appetizing thing dish we ordered. Hands down the BEST authentic Thai I have ever put in my mouth!!!! Lord have Mercy! It's called Masaman Gai. Chicken thigh potato coconut tamarind curry served over jasmine rice !!! My God if I lived in Victoria I would probably eat here weekly!!!! read more

Wanted to try some authentic food in Chinatown while in Victoria - and we just needed a small snack. These were perfect. An order of the chicken and an order of the pork dumplings was perfect for our family of four. We'd never had fried dumplings, and these were tasty with the chili sauce. read more
