Pork belly and triple mushroom dumplings. Chicken bao buns
    Amanda M.

Wow!! What an amazing find in Chinatown!! Not a huge menu but these fried dumplings and bao buns were delicious!

Mango sticky rice, crispy chicken bao, fried pork belly dumplings

Pretty good stuff, however and I know this is preference based so I am so very sorry but it was a little spicy for me and gave me some evil heartburn after and everything had cilantro. That isn't why it's getting a 3 though, I just found it sort of average. Pretty small portions, not the cheapest ever, mango sticky rice was just buttery rice with mango and I like it to be sweeter and heavier on the coconut. But I will say service and ambiance was great and I can see myself popping back in on a late night for a little snack.

Happy hour $12 beer and dumplings or bao. Both very delicious. Can't go wrong for $12. Would definitely go again.

Came here with high expecations and boy did this miss the mark. We were in Victoria for just a few days, and this was on my checklist as a highly recommended place. The dumplings were over-fried and perhaps with oil that should have been changed. The flavors of the sauces were also just all right, and too salty if anything. For the price, I absolutely expected more.

Very cute small dumpling shop. Can even take away frozen to make later. Have a bar counter , local beer & wine and we were Happy Hour! It really was SO tasty- the Chili sauce had just the right amount of kick! Hace vegan dumplings as well!

    Pork belly dumplings!

Based on the Yelp reviews, I wanted to try this place. Had we not just enjoyed some terrific Korean Fried Chicken just before I would have been tempted to order more. But on a tip from a customer, we got the special of 5 dumplings and a small glass of Sapporo for $10 C. When you factor in the exchange rate, that's $7.50! Totally reasonable for a tasty snack. I wouldn't say the dumplings were to die for. I'm not used to deep fried ones. They were hot and crispy, though, and arrived just about instantly. Super hot! They were a little awkward to eat because of their 'fried ball' shape but they were even harder to eat! They came with this super flavorful chili sauce that I couldn't get enough of, but it did make this little buggers tough to pick up. I didn't find the pork filling to be anything special. Wasn't bad but wasn't spectacular. They also had Lemongrass chicken available, but since we only did one order, we didn't try those. I think, if I come back, I'm going to grab some of the frozen ones to cook up on the boat. And you can be sure I'll try multiple flavors and make sure there's plenty of chili sauce!

Decided to stop in here to grab a quick bite while exploring around Victoria. I'm glad we did, they had a great special that was dumplings and a beer and it was a warm day. We got the order of pork belly dumplings and the beer. I haven't really had dumplings like this before but my wife had, so I was pretty excited. This place didn't disappoint. The chili oil that was on these and gave them a pleasant kick. They were nice and full and cooked so nicely. They held their shape and they didn't get soggy. The filling was delicious and juicy. It was a great little shop with friendly people and a great special. I wish we could have bought some of the dumplings to take back with us, but we didn't have a cooler.

It was our first visit to Dumpling Drop. The dumplings and chilli sauce were delicious. We ordered vegan dumplings. Casual and comfortable ambiance. We weren't expecting the dumplings to be fried. The dumplings were crisp and full of delicious tastes. They also sold some of their frozen dumplings to go.'This restaurant is ideal for a fast bite. The hostess at the register was pleasant, provided great service and served our meals quickly. Highly recommend Dumpling Drop. We shall be back!

Fried dumplings, fried chicken Bao and sake

I wanted to like this place so much more .. fried dumplings were so over cooked, the Bao was good (chicken was a little dry but bun and slaw was tasty) and sake was yummy too! Wouldn't order the dumplings again though. Great, quick service for dine in

Dumplings dumplings all day every day! Love the crispy goodness and that sauce wowzah! We also had the crispy chicken Bao - soft moist pillows of yumminess! We ordered ours to take out so we could eat on the go while touring around Chinatown. Great service - the young lady graciously brought out our order as soon as it was ready ( only a 15min wait!) Highly recommend stopping in!

Heard about this place through social media so I really didn't know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised as to how good the food was. They had an issue with some of their equipment so we couldn't try their Bao's but the dumplings and sides that we tried were delicious! If you're in Victoria, BC and want to grab a quick bite for lunch, Dumpling Drop is your spot!

My girlfriend and I were staying down the street and came across this spot in Chinatown across from Market Square. It's pretty small with maybe three tables and bar seating. In total I'd say the restaurant can seat around 20 people max. We ordered the Vegan Dumplings and Pork Dumplings. Both orders were actually not what I expected. I'm used to having steam or pan fried dumplings. These seemed almost deep friend since the wrap was fully crisp like a deep friend Wonton. Still good though and I'd order them again. Both came in like a spicy hoisin/peanut sauce. Overall it's worth a stopover for a quick bite. Their apparel is really cool and I would have bought something if there wasn't any labelling on the back. I just wanted something that said Dumpling Drop in the chest.

This was the best lunch I had while I was in Victoria. The sticky mango rice, might have been the best rice I've ever had. The dumplings had a chili sauce on them and were fried. We also got the raspberry creamsicle pop and it was everything I wanted it to be. I'm going to dream about this place. If you're in the area, you should 1000% swing by.

The halibut is perfect-just like I like it. The pieces are generous. One piece is plenty for the average person. The halibut is BC caught, which is great. Tasted fresh and delicious. I like the fresh tasting coleslaw. It isn't that gluggy sweet sugar & mayo combo you get at many places. It was just a simple cut up cabbage nicely seasoned. Maybe it had a little something else on it. Expect a line whenever you go because the word is out. The wait staff was friendly and working hard to keep the line moving. I got the albacore tuna and tempura cod tacones which were decently priced and filling - 2 was more than enough for a nice meal. The albacore tuna was prepared medium and fresh and flavorful, and the tempura cod is nicely battered. Lots of ample seating outdoors only, so I can imagine it being more busy on a nicer day like when I visited.

So on a cold December evening we both had the Polo Appollonia; a wonderful mixture of garlic, bacon, and cheesey pasta. But the real star of the meal were the appetizers! Amazing tasting tomato soup, and the insalata caprese. The salad had a large portion of crisp tomatoes served with like a half pound of real homemade buffalo mozzarella, and lots of fresh basil. As we often do we ordered far too much food, wanting to explore everything off a menu that is far reaching. Not sure if our additions worked with the price fixe menu, but we sure enjoyed checking everything out. The interior is interesting with the addition of structural steel in the space to keep this heritage building (I think) standing tall for a few generations. We sure hope it's still here for a long while and will most likely come again the next time we are in Victoria. To make our 3-hour visit there worth it, we wanted to have dinner here, and I don't regret finding this place; it was awesome eating here! The inside is mildly bright with many tables for seating but it also feels oddly quiet inside given the number of people inside (it was halfway to a full house). You'll also see some wall decorations and figures at the front. Service here was pretty slow; it took 15 minutes for my mom and sis's dishes to come out, and nearly 25 minutes for the first portion of my dish. Sometimes my server was pretty busy to take some of my requests like getting a spoon or the check. As for my food, I got the traditional Crossing the Bridge rice noodles, with the standout items being the Yunnan pork and raw pork for me. My ingredients for this dish came out in 25 min, with the soup and coming out 10 minutes later and the noodles following a couple minutes after that. With the way everything but the noodles were being brought out, I was worried the soup would start getting cold by the time I threw everything else into the soup. Looking past all of that, the whole thing was actually delicious! Soup wasn't sour and instead felt very homely, and the amount of ingredients was perfect. The soup wasn't in any sort of stone pot to keep it really hot, but everything ended up being fully cooked before i started eating. Others things to mention: - We got two orders of wonton soup. These don't include noodles, and the wontons looked pretty bland even though they're actually full of taste. - My mom's zhajiang noodles came in soup, which is definitely a first since I usually see it without. - Portions in general are quite small though they aren't as expensive when looking between CAD and USD. I'll mentally add this place to my list of places to revisit whenever I'm back in Victoria!

My spouse had the chuck and brisket/bacon burger with fries. The chef would not prepare it medium but well done only. Complaints were a dry, possibly pre formed and frozen meat patty...the veggies were necessary for moisture. I had the buttermilk chicken "schnitzel" with fennel salad and potatoes. The fennel salad consisted of 2 1/2 thin shaves of fennel. The potatoes were good. The chicken was most likely 3 oz and pounded literally as thin as paper and deep fried within an inch of its life! The dish was small or meager size and I don't need a lot to feel satisfied but simply didn't with this dish of greasy, overcooked paper thin chicken. Ugh. Chocolate torte for dessert....although thin, it was rich and delicious. We shared the white bean mezze for a starter, the hummus was good and the pickled carrots very good. The ambiance of the restaurant is nice, dark with deep colors and chill. The feeling we had was this restaurant trying to be a 5-star, chic culinary adventure (small portions but amazing food); however they fell very short. Unfortunately this hotel offers no other kitchen or menu for guests and room service. You won't find a delicious and varied menu here...you are stuck with Fathom.
