Fried okra and ranch are delicious, the sample size of the ranch is small and the coleslaw took me by surprise with having cranberries and pineapple in it and little runny with the juices but, also good. Food wasn't very good and not what a BBQ place should be serving. Cole slaw was 50% pineapple and sweet. Baked beans were just pinto beans with tomato sauce, no flavor at all. Brisket didn't taste smoky at all, but was tender... just very bland. Worst thing as the Carolina pulled pork was a soupy concoction of shredded pork in a sauce that tasted like honey mustard salad dressing. Criminal! As a Carolina girl, I can tell you that Carolina pulled pork in basted in apple cider vinegar as it cooks which gives it the tang. Pork is a sweet meat and needs it for balance. No sugar or honey. And sauce is on the side and the same vinegar with a little mustard in it, not a whole gloopy glob of sweet sauce that seemed to have mayo mustard and honey in it. My ancestors are rolling in their graves over this. So our $40 meal was a total fail. Never again for us. read more

Without question, the worst chicken I've ever had. Dry as chalk and void of any flavor. It's been sitting in a warmer for weeks, which is ironic because it wasn't warm. How could you serve this? Another fine outpost of the Duke City BBQ business - these El Paso folks know how to barbecue. The food is just like at the original place over on San Mateo and the service is every bit as friendly (and you still get a little sample sausage lagniappe when you walk in the door). The room has a similar casual vibe although this location (at the Bridges complex on Candelaria at Tramway) somehow feels maybe a little more "college town" than "strip mall". As at the original location, they're sometimes out of things (today it was the potato I wanted), but I'd venture to say this is the best BBQ available in the Foothills these days. read more

This service and food amazing! We got some pork ribs which were fall-off-the-bone and seasoned well with hint of sugar. With some added bbq sauce, and it tasted amazing! We also got a large beef bone and they were kidding it was big. Our bone was about 2 lbs but soooo tasty! We also got some green chile sausage, coleslaw, and potato salad which were decent. The meat was definitely the stars of the show. The service was wonderful! I would definitely come here again!! read more

On a total BBQ level it is a 3 star. On an Albuquerque level it's probably 4 because our options aren't great here. The ribs were solid. The brisket a bit dry. I liked the BBQ sauces enough. The spicy one had a real kick to it. The sides were very lackluster and I wouldn't get them again. Beans, Mac, and Okra all disappointing for us. If I do go back it'll be for meat only. read more

It's OK. I almost corrected the guy for slicing meat with the grain. It was a point piece. They were super nice and let me try a little bit of brisket and pulled pork. I asked for the smallest quantity of every meat they had. That didn't compute with the guy. I told them I knew a bit about BBQ from judging competition and being a back yard cook. I asked what they smoked with the guy pointing and said the smoker. 99.9% of the time at BBQ joints they know I'm asking about the wood. I clarified my question and they use mesquite. I'm not a fan of only mesquite wood smoking as it burns too hot and gives the meat an acrid taste. They do make some cool things like a bacon wrapped jalapeño and beef ribs. Their meat is moist. So average at best, but $19 for a 1/2 pound of brisket seems high. read more

This was our first time getting food from here and we had mixed reviews from the table. I thought the bbq turkey was very good. My husband didn't care for the pulled pork but the kids liked it. They thought the brisket was average. The coleslaw, potato salad and beans were good. They were out of green chili rice and Mac and cheese which I thought was surprising since it was early dinner time. We got our food pretty quickly and took it to Boxing Bear Brewery at the other end of the strip mall which was nice so we could enjoy an alcoholic drink with dinner. read more

Stumbled across this new bbq place off Tramway and I'm so glad I did! Ordered the bbq bowl with brisket and creamed corn on the side. Brisket was a little tough but the flavor was delicious. The bowl came with green chile rice and bbq beans, both were great. The creamed corn though....that was my absolute favorite. The bbq sauces were equally delicious so I just drowned my food in both. The absolute worst BBQ sausage I've ever had. Even cafeterias had better BBQ. Truly, I can't imagine worse BBQ sausage. It was dry, had no casing, fell apart into ground meat, had no flavor other than salt and a hint of spice. It was like eating quinoi and bad quinoi at that. The beef rib, a specialty, was greasy (not in a good way) and had no flavor to go with it either. The texture was not like beef, more like turkey. The pork ribs are mid tier at best, at least some good meat texture, but again, no flavor. Same goes for the brisket which had okay chew, but lacking flavor. Service sucked as the cashier had an "I'm bored with everything" vibe. It's as if they think "barbeque is just a vehicle for sauce" and then they give you some of the most uninspired sauces I've tasted. Albuquerque has some excellent BBQ places, do NOT waste one moment trying this place. The obvious best BBQ is County Line and the best "cheap" BBQ has to be Rudy's. Try ANY other BBQ place and you'll get something out of it, but this place, absolute zero. read more

So glad the new westside location is open on Unser Blvd. The meat and spicy bbq sauce is fantastic!! We will be regular customers. The meat was tender with very little fat and the portions were generous. The cole slaw is good if you like a lot of cranberries and pineapple in your slaw. Huge fan of Duke city BBQ and was super excited to see a new location. I had a great sliced brisket sandwich and the wife had a pulled pork sandwich. As usual both were awesome. Same quality as the San Mateo location. This is at the same place as boxing bear brewing so we took our order and had a cold brew as well. read more

I was skeptical about the meatiness of the ribs, so the owner proudly showed me a bundle from the heat cabinet: WOW! Great, meaty slabs of Texas pride! Rich, fatty bark with silky shreds of muscle underneath; simply seasoned to let the beef flavor stand out. Ate there for dinner on 5/3. A previous night's meal was great, this one not so much. Both the brisket and the turkey sandwiches were sliced too thick. The brisket was very fatty and the turkey was all poorly cut end pieces. The worst dish was the creamed corn which was more like soup. Barely any corn in it and it was too watery and had no flavor at all. We meet friends at Boxing Bear a few times a week. We were delighted at having a new food choice but I don't think we will get food there again. read more
