Duffy's is a long standing establishment in East Rome. The sandwiches are made to order and are really good. Do they make the best sandwiches with the best ingredients around? I don't know. But they do make very good sandwiches, the prices are good, and the people are very nice. read more

I stop here quite often when I'm in Rome. The staff is always super friendly and you know the food is always good. Although I don't eat chicken salad, it seems to be one of their specialties and I see lots of people ordering it when I am there. I always get a 1/2 sandwich and cup of soup. They usually have at least 6 kinds of soup to choose from and what seems like an unending amount of choices of sandwiches between the meats, cheeses and breads they offer. The sweet tea is always good as well. They are not cheap, but they don't use cheap ingredients and even their plastic cutlery is higher quality than what you find most everywhere else. The homemade desserts are also a highlight of each of my visits, with the caramel cake being my all time favorite. I'm a regular and will continue to be one as long as their high standards remain in tact. read more

This is the hangout for your downtown and east Rome crowd when it come to Lunch. Schroeder on Broad and this prepare the lunch go-tos that many Romans have come to love. Here, you get some of the best Chicken Salas and Broccoli salad that you have ever had. The prices are inexpensive and you have to wash it down with a oh so good sweet tea. Unfortunately, I've never set foot in Duffy's because it is too far to drive on my lunch break. Luckily, we've had meals delivered to the office several times, so I know what I like: the grilled pimiento cheese sandwich is great, and I love the broccoli salad. I also like the black bean soup and the grilled turkey sandwich, which appears to have some kind of chipotle sauce on it. As mentioned by another reviewer, the chicken salad is really good, too. Brunswick stew, that's right you won't find as good as any of the barbeque places as you will right here... Potatoe soup, pimento cheese, chili, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu... Their sandwiches can get a little pricy and sometimes it just seems like they buy their lunch meats breads at the grocery store, but their chicken salad is *killer* and it's what keeps me coming back. Get a fruity chicken salad sandwich on sourdough bread, toasted. You won't regret it! The food here is very average. There are certainly better places serving sandwiches and soup in Rome, GA. The prices are reasonable and certainly one of the​ better aspects​ of the restaurant. The staff was young, curt and not very friendly, and spent most of their time conversing behind the counter​ among themselves. The atmosphere was stuffy and the tables and chairs were very old and grimy, organized in straight​ lines to maximize space at the cost of aesthetics​​. I'd only recommend this place if you're looking for cheap, quickly-made sandwiches and don't mind wasteful styrofoam​ and a less than ideal atmosphere. read more

I come to Rome at least once a week for school. During my lunch break I was near Duffy's and heard from several locals that I should try it. Based also on the Yelp reviews, as well, I decided to. It's a small restaurant with various sandwiches, soups, salad, and desserts to choose from. They have a wide variety of chicken salad available. All and all, the sandwiches are run-of-the-mill. The price is steep for the quality. At my last visit I had a turkey club wrap with a cup of soup and drink and the total was over $12. The wrap was $6.50 alone and included nothing. The wrap was overloaded with cheese and barely any turkey in the wrap itself. The meat is of grocery store packaged quality as well as their bagged bread. No fresh baked breads. The other sandwiches I tried were about the same quality. Very lacking in taste and very ordinary. Definitely not a unique place. I have come here now at least 3-4 times to give it other chances. With the prices, I can find a better sandwich cheaper elsewhere. read more

The place was a little on the dirty side with an unswept floor and a mess on the drink station but the food was wonderful. Two adults and a child ate for 20.01, which is awesome when you think of how expensive going out to eat is. If you ever need a caterer for just plain GREAT sandwiches, soups, and salads, this is the place for you. I have used their catering for casual picnic style luncheons to full meals and have never been disappointed yet! They are reliable, reasonable, and their food is top notch! Their chicken salad is to die for and now that I have branched out and eaten their pimento cheese, I may forgo the chicken salad for a while. If you go at lunch, it is going to be a little crowded, but hey, folks are there because it is GREAT food! Food was okay once we got it. Ordering was kind of hectic though because there was too much to choose from and the three young girls in there all seemed new. Used to enjoy duffy's a couple years back but every time I've recently gone its not been a good experience. I went with my family today and my dad who grew up in rome said he won't be back to eat there again. The place is crowded usually and I always end up sitting down and waiting too long for my sandwich to come to the table. Today our whole table (4 people) ate their meals (soup and sides) before two of the sandwiches even arrived. When they finally did come out one of the sandwiches was wrong and the girl delivering it rolled her eyes and took it back. The corrected sandwich then came out 15 minutes later right when we were about to walk out. When she dropped it off one of us at the table politely said "mam" to get her attention to ask a question and she blatantly ignored us and walked away. TERRIBLE SERVICE. I also think they have over priced stuff some of the soup tastes like it came from a can, they charge for water and a little bag of lays chips was $1.09 by the time you get sandwich and some sort of side and drink it ends up being around $10 and I promise you can make these sandwiches at home for much cheaper. I used to suck it up and pay for it but after the service and ridiculous wait today with no apologies for the wait or for giving us the wrong order it's just not worth my money.
