Ok...they're new to this area (again). We went in and got the Sr. rate (weekend $13.29, drinks $1.99) and got our table, then went to check out the food. The seafood gumbo was surprisingly good, with a lot of flavor (not watery), good amount of various seafoods, and okra that was not gummy. The fried chicken went both ways. The leg was a bit flavorless, yet the thigh was very tasty, as well as moist and juicy. Overall the food was hot and tasty, in spite of it being a buffet. Service was unobtrusive, and efficient. There are still some areas than need addressing, such as the roast beef was very tough, and the desserts need a few more offerings (apple cobbler, bread pudding, Texas Tornado[bread pudding with coconut]), toppings for the ice cream. The fried chicken was good but a little too salty for me personally. Baked chicken was really good as was the fried fish. Everything on the salad bar was super fresh. Loved basically most everything I had and the place was well staffed and CLEAN. Constant attention to the food line kept it nice and tidy. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! Me and my wife called to make sure they were opened for dine-in and any other info. After 40 minutes driving, at the entrance they told us that we had to buy masks that are given free at Costco. We asked why we were not informed on the phone when we called since we have our own masks. They left us for 10 minutes waiting outside and we had to leave. We went to other buffet and mask was not required. We couldn't believe this poor costumer experience and we called the owner who didn't care at all about their wrong doing and who didn't give us any solution, instead he hung up on us! VERY VERY DISAPPOINTING AND EMBARRASSING!!! I've worked dealing with customers all my life and I never experienced any thing similar. I hope our experience helps other future costumers to know how this place and his owner treats their costumers and don't make the mistake we made by going there. read more

I ate at Duff's with a group of friends. I barely made it home before vomiting. I spent the whole evening vomiting & having diarrhea. We all had the same food except for the fish I ate. When I started becoming sick I called the restaurant to tell them they were serving bad food. First thing the manager had to say was we don't refund money for any reason. I told him I was concerned about the food being bad & I never asked for my money back. He just didn't seem to care. read more

Went to Duff's Buffet for their Thanksgiving meal with family. Such a great deal!! For 2 people it was like $22 with drink. It was 7 of us and we got there around 2 pm and we only waited 5 min for a table. The place was full but the food was fresh and hot and they always kept it coming. I had the broccoli and cheddar soup which was amazing. Their roast beef was great. They had turkey, lasagna, and even fish. We had such a great time that we all agreed that this was going to be our new thanksgiving tradition. I told my husband that we have to try it again because they did so great on thanksgiving imagine the other days. It's close to my home and it's always packed when I go by so you know it's a great place. Can't wait to try it on a weekend and we will definitely be back next thanksgiving, hopefully with more family. Decent American Buffet. large selection, always fresh food and clean. But I would like to give thoughts of making it better. Been going since they opened, I am a soup person and there chicken soup is great, but this past month it has been lacking in flavor in the broth. pleas fix it. Also there French onion soup does not have many onions at all, but one time it had a lot but there were big chunks of onion barely cooked, which is an easy fix. The fried chicken is good but lacks seasoning. They do make a lot of the dishes but most are bought from commercial company, which is understandable. Overall, decent buffet, and will come back, they just need to tweak somethings. Also, if they can put new items in from time to time that would be a plus, hate having the same thing all the time. read more

When they first opened this location, we were so excited to not have to drive all the way to Bradenton. The location there always enticed us with their fresh homemade food and their clean and comfortable dining room. Well, when the Clearwater location was opened, we tried it several times and were not impressed. The food was only average, the prices seemed high and the whole experience wasn't good. We recently decided to try it post COVID-19 and were totally amazed at how great the place was. I still think it's a bit pricey but, the food, service and dining experience were all very good. The chicken liver pan was empty so, I inquired. The manager explained that it was a somewhat slow night and that he would have the kitchen prepare an order and deliver them to our table, he did just that and they were incredible. He stopped by a couple more times to see if we needed anything and to make sure we were enjoying our meal. The only thing negative is the price and it's probably not too high when I realize just how expensive everything is right now. Gasoline, groceries, building supplies, it's all outrageously priced. I got the Liver and peppers/Onions,3 pieces of Rib meat and the charge were $15.87 are you kidding me and the waitress taking the money was very rude and a smart alec when I said wow that's so expensive, she said you came to eat didn't you and I shut my mouth. The ppl behind me said "wow that's expensive" she said its $8.99 a lb and we don't give senior or military discounts on Sunday! The food was fantastic, especially for a buffet! Would have given 5 stars however the service was sub par. On the plus side management took notice prior to my wife or I having to go find the waiter for a drink refill and we over heard the talk she gave our server and another sever who were standing around counting tips instead of paying attention to their customers. Four of us tried the new Duffs Buffet on Hwy 19 in Clearwater. Having been to another Duffs location a few years ago, we knew what to expect in terms of food selection and quality. Food was fine and good selection. However table service was terrible. And it's not that hard...drink refills and clearing dirty plates. Neither happened until we were able to flag someone down...about 20 minutes into our meal with 2 water, 1 soda and 1 tea glass sitting empty for a good 10 minutes. So ask the cashier to seat you in an area with one of their better servers. They decide where you sit as its not open seating. read more

Very clean and well organized. The staff was a delight. It does get crowded at the cashier but they seat you quickly and get you drinks immediately. The food left more than just something to be desired. It was bland and there were hardly any starchless options. The dessert table was a mess, it looked like a kid dumped crumbs and globs of strawberry juice everywhere.. it didn't get cleaned the entire time we were there. Parents were not with their kids in the buffet lines and they were touching food and putting it back. I don't think our family will be returning. read more

We arrive for 4 o'clock and the buffet line had not been restocked upon picking out a piece of fried chicken I noticed that there was red substance all over the fried chicken the guy behind the line which we later learned was the cold owner picked up the chicken that had the red Substance on it and I threw that chicken away and said the rest of the chicken was good we walked around and got some other things and we noticed that there was the same ribs substance all over the The food on the carrots the fried green tomatoes all had the same red sauce the owner said it fell off of somebody's plate and it was good we decided to ask for the manager and she offered to give us a refund. The co-owner behind the meat carving station came up to us and said that we needed to leave his restaurant and we were not getting a refund I asked for a receipt at which he took away from the manager andI was told no I tried reaching for the receipt and he tore it up in front of me he was extremely rude to both my myself and my son telling us to get out of his restaurant and he was not going to service we were not going to get our money back we never got a drink we never got to taste any food I'll simply because of the red substance that was all over the place maybe it was dripping off of somebody's plate it could've been blood from somebody's hand or opened won't needless to say we will not be back in the camp credit card was canceled and reported as stolen read more

What a let down! My wife and I visited for our first and last time on September 21., 2018. You pay when you walk in, which is expected, however, the person at the register asked us if we wanted to leave a tip on our credit card when we paid.....really tacky! A tip should be earned because of good service, not an expectation. Anyway, we shrugged it off and ate dinner. The salad bar was good, we passed on the soup because it obviously had been sitting around. The broccoli and cheese casserole was absolutely mush; it was sitting around way, way too long. I tried the fried green tomatoes; all batter and nasty mush in the inside. Butterfly fried shrimp were sub-par. My wife tried the baked white fish and stopped at one bite. The mussels were overpowered with Old Bay seasoning so much that you could not taste the mussels; honestly, the Old Bay was so overpowering that it tastes like I was eating a spoon full of the seasoning. We passed on the deserts because they looked older than the soup. Honestly, this place seems like they order prepared food from Sysco and re-heat it; I don't think anything was prepared fresh. The truly nasty thing was to see how many people lick their fingers after the put food on their plate from the buffet. The place was jammed packed; I have no clue as to why.....I guess people will sacrifice quality for quantity when you can eat as much as you want. For $14 a plate, you would be better off going to a real restaurant. Duffs.....you really let us down, we wish you well, but, we will never be back. read more

I have been coming to Duff's Buffet for sometime. I have invited family and friends there. Today my wife and I went there for dinner and when we sat down to eat and I found some plastic wrap in my cabbage. I ask the waitress to speak to her manager and the managers name was Terry. Terry came over and I shared and showed him the plastic wrap. Terry made a joke about it and I ask if I could get the owners number so I can report how he handled this situation. I got up and went over to the hot food area where there was another gentleman and I shared with him that Terry was suppose to give me a number. I told him what happened and he told me "to get something to eat or don't eat at all or I can leave the restaurant. I saw Terry in a little window so I knocked on the window for him to come and bring me the number of the owner and the gentleman grabbed my arm and "I told him not to put his hands on me again". He told me "I will throw you out of here". Terry then told me to "get out of the restaurant". I am so done with this restaurant. I have given them enough of my money. I am so very embarrassed and hurt behind what happened. The way they treated me I am going to report this place to the proper authorities. read more

i ate at the one in Clearwater for the first time, this week. walked in and i just followed to crowd in sat down. after about 10 minutesof not seeing anybody i went up to the Buffet and started filling my plate came back sit down,started eating. a waitress after 15 -20 came over and ask me what i wanted to drink? tea ordered then she came back and said where is your yellow tab, i said i haven't paid yet i thought maybe you gave me a bill. She said no, i will do whatever you want me to do, take my card and pay or do you want me to go pay. She said no go ahead and eat. she was back at my table q 4-5 minutes asking me if i paid yet. i was so angry and mad i couldn't even taste my food (that was ice cold) by the time i got to actually start eating it. i ask someone at the Buffet for a box to go. He said you will have to pay for whatever you take they weight it ??? said that's fine then when i sit back down i saw my waitress talking to the man who gave me the Box. i just got my things together and put 2 pork pieces in my to got box my entire bill was 18.98 are u kidding me.
