Did you ever fantasize about walking into an incredibly beautiful painting? Well walk in to the Due Mori and onto the terrance that looks out over the hills of Asolo-- you're there! And the food is SO authentic and SO wonderful. Many years ago I spent two months in Asolo-- in summer course for singers. The Due Mori was one of our favorite dinner spots. The hostess (maybe owner at the time, was a dynamic red-headed Italian diva (in the good sense) named Gabriella. I can still see her smile. Of course I've been back many times since those student days. The place carries on the tradition-- this is the real deal! Bravi tutti!! Gabriella is probably smiling down from an eternal terrace and saying "Va bene!" Everything's fine... but really, better than fine.. I remember the open wood fire with a grill on it-- and things roasting....and pastas to die for-- and first conversations with young singers from various countries struggling with our only language we had in common-- Italian! A great view with a very accommodating staff. It started with the staff speaking English to us and seating us with a great view of the valley. They had pillows for the seats, and Origami decorations on the tables for kids. We didn't have a dog, but another family did and the staff brought out water for the dogs. The food was very tasty and priced very well. They stated that they didn't have a kids menu, but we asked for pasta with tomato sauce and even though it wasn't on the menu, they a accommodated us. The existing photos do not do this place justice. It's a fairly large venue, particularly for the community. The design is modern, open, and friendly. Much of the seating is outdoors and is subject to closure whenever there are evening rain storms. The food, service, and wine menu are world class. What was the most surprising about the entire experience? A multi-course meal with several bottles of wine, desert, and coffee ended up being less than $80/person. It's a true value in the sense that you're getting flawlessly executed Italian cuisine and dining for an incredibly reasonable price. Service was unusually fast. Bottles of wine were promptly produced, opened, and poured table side. The servers supported our requests to bring clean plates to serve items family style, and the check was brought without delay only once requested. We had an incredible meal there. The staff was friendly and dealt with our attempts to speak Italian, but spoke perfect English. The food was fantastic. Dining off their November menu, we had the burrata with sweet onion starter which was fantastic. The three different pastas we had as primis were all excellent--especially with the duck ragu. We had the beef cheek and the chicken al forno and both were fantastic. The evening ended with several desserts--all loved by our kids. The decor is smart and clean and the staff excellent. The chef greeted everyone and was truly vested in every meal. Our kids (13 and 9) did well there and were welcomed. We hope to return next time we are in Asolo. read more
