The pumpkin flan was a true experience of sweet and savoriness. I couldn't stop eating the ratatouille; it was such a delicious treat. I was able to have a conversation with the chef after our meal, and she encouraged my excitement to experiment and try my hand at some of these dishes at home. I wish I lived in Venice, so I could have La Zucca regularly. They only had one reservation spot for the days we were in Venice, so I definitely recommend making reservations ahead of time.

Nicola and Saor were our hosts and kept our tables well served through and through. Saor ran us through the options and we ended up ordering the following: Green beans with almond, grilled fennel with walnuts, lentils and stuffed mushrooms. You really cannot go wrong with any of these as how they were severed though my personal favorite were the lentils and the fennel. Absolutely recommend the place and their hosts and as well the ambiance that you get in a subtle kind of quite part of the town. Just do it!!

Visiting Venice for a short time, it was disheartening to spend our limited time and money on this meal. Initially, we were not seated inside, though people were inside when we left. However, their indoor area only had a small portable AC, so it wouldn't have been much better. During the hot summer afternoon, the outdoor patio was unbearable, despite the umbrellas. As the sun shifted, I felt like I was boiling. The service was slow but not terrible. I ordered the lasagna, which was one of the worst I've had, and I've had my share of bad lasagna. It was mushy and not to my taste. My partner's spaghetti carbonara tasted overwhelmingly of pepper. The fried guanciale slices were the highlight, but the overcooked egg resembled scrambled eggs, mixed with powdered pepper flavor. It was inedible for us. Perhaps this is a traditional Venice way of cooking but I did not like it. My Prosecco was good, but they serve Pepsi instead of Coke, which wasn't great either. Unfortunately, I wouldn't return.

Some pieces of liver were underdone and rubbery (raw inside) but most were properly prepared and overall I 'm glad I tried this dish. My dessert of tiramisu was a generous portion and a merciful end to a poorly paced meal. Our bottle of Prosecco Veneto was fine--fizzy and not oversweet. The bill (which took another half hour to arrive) was 210 euros for four diners (one of whom ordered only pasta). A fair amount less than what we'd expect to pay in Los Angeles but this joke of a restaurant wouldn't last three months in LA.
