Seemed a little in the cheap side to be good, the food came so fast that again I didn't think it would be good, but it was great. My kids had the gnocchi in truffle sauce and the carbonara and both were divine! Like I think about them and wish I could go back. My seafood was fresh and tender, the pasta was perfectly cooked and it all just had flavor! The best meal I've had in my trip so far. If you're in Venice, do yourself a favor and try out this very affordable very flavorful restaurant with the nice ambience and super helpful English speaking waiters. For the main course we had a pizza veneta (with salsiccia) and penne arrabiata. Then there was also a delicious sorbet, donated by the house! The food tasted delicious, also the wine, and the friendly staff contributed to a pleasant evening.

Service was fast and polite and they even offered us English language menus as they saw me struggling to translate the Italian! Food was hot and beautiful seasoned, I asked the waitress if I could move in. Yes it's hip and there's no art on the walls but the fact it was packed from start to finish says they are doing something right and the something right is the food which speaks for itself. Ok, I will make a list what is great: - A hip, 'young', yet Italian decoration (with Wi-Fi) - The food is served in a very alternative way. In jars, coloured square plates, beautifully decorated, with quality glasses and cutlery. - The food is clearly freshly made. Even the chocolate in the chocolate biscuit (desert served with vanilla mouse) tasted 'home made'. - The menu lists gluten-free items - The staff is willing to help you with your choice. I don't know much about wine so they suggested one to me. Last night we were there and the waiter knew the name of the wine my girlfriend wanted, before my girlfriend asked for it. - The restaurant has a wine store where the wine bottles on the menu and many more can be bought. The restaurant is also (just) a bar to 'just have a drink' (and a snack). On Sunday afternoon a la carte lunch is replaced by a buffet only (I did not try).

But open…read morethe door and you are met with a wall of sound from excited diners, an interior crammed with gaily decorated tables, walls abounding with wines on display and pictures, fresh flowers everywhere, and the aromas of fresh food. All beneath a spectacular wood-vaulted ceiling. Toni's is a numero uno with the locals, so be absolutely sure to book, as far in advance as possible. Ask for a table in the front part of the restaurant. The menu is written on chalkboards and changes regularly, though a few favourites are always in place, such as the Baccala (salted cod), Tagliatelle with Duck, and Hunter's Rabbit with Olives. The wines are displayed in every possible location: just select one or ask the obliging waiters to recommend something - they will never push you on to anything expensive. And the 'Spin' bit? It is said to be derived from Spina, meaning the spine of the codfish. But a waiter gave me a much more interesting account of the origin, that I cannot publish here - you'll have to go for yourself to find out!
