Menu board from July 6, 2017
    Masanori D.

There are a couple of reasons why I do not recommend this restaurant. 1. Their service is painfully slow. We got our drinks quickly, but we had to wait for close to an hour to get our antipasti (platters of cured ham and cheese). Another hour + (i.e., more than two hours after we placed our orders) to wait for entrees. 2. Their menu is very limited. As you can see in my photo, they only had one or two options for each category. For example, in the pasta category, they only had "meat lasagna" or "vegetable lasagna." I wanted to eat different pasta, like linguine or something, but they only had lasagna. I looked at the menu, but it said "Pasta of the Day" and was referred to the menu board. I ended up ordering the cod gratin. It turned out to be very good, much better than I had anticipated. I was bit scared because my Yelp friend Dembe N. had said in his review "the food tasted like canned food or even worse." Maybe he's right. I was just so hungry that the gratin tasted good after waiting for a couple of hours. To be fair, I disclose the fact that we were a party of 9 people. Not huge, but relatively big. Even with that, the service was very slow. Everyone in our group are very well travelled in Europe, and a couple of them actually grew up in Europe. So, it's not because we are impatient. The bottom line is why would you like to come here at all? A very limited menu, very slow service, and (possibly) ok food. There are thousands of restaurants in Venice. ****************************** If you found something useful in my review, please hit "useful" so that I can improve my reviews. I came across this bacari as this was the last stop in Alessandro Schezzini's cicchetti crawl in Venice. The reviews for this place seem to be hit-or-miss; guess I just got lucky when my group stopped by. One of the best things about traveling are the little "serendipity" moments that make you feel good about your travels. The reason why I'm giving this place a 5 stars was because one of the most pleasant memories from my 2-week Italy vacation involved this bacari. It was approaching sunset and this place had a canalside view. For our final stop the cicchetti served was prosciutto on top of a baguette loaf and the alcohol served was a glass of Prosecco. To celebrate my first day in Italy with excellent company enjoying the sunset over a glass of Proscecco was quite serendipitous. It also helped that the prosciutto was the best I've ever had, nothing in the US tasted what I had that day. I think the prosciutto here is more pure and has a texture to fatty sashimi as a comparision. Naranzaria is situated along the Grand Canal right next to the Rialto and across the canal is the famous Fondaco dei Tedeschi building. As long as I stick to the prosciutto and a glass of wine or aperol spritz I won't be disappointed should I find myself back here.

Deliziosi!! It was a beautiful view of the Grand Canal! I had a mojito and my fiancé had a beer. It was nice to hang out and you get free chips to snack on! The server was also very quick and attentive! The only issue, especially around the water, is all the birds. Too close jumping and your feet and on tables! Either way, definitely go and enjoy the view!

This is cute place right near Rialto but found the staff to be rude. After we purchased wine they told us we could not sit at the open tables as that was an additional charge. Ummm well that's a first. So instead we stood in a small cramped area watching the staff help themselves to the prepared food they had for sale and eat it while they sat around. I was tempted to stand right in front of the counter blocking anyone else from ordering to counter their odd remark of telling me I had to pay to sit down after I had ordered. But alias then i would be the rude one. The wine by the glass selection is nice although short pours and they were out of various wines on the list and tried to push purchasing a bottle to make up for their lack of selection available. It's fine for 1 drink but nothing more.

Naranzaria was recommended by a friend and we found it a nice place to stop for a daytime drink and snack. It's located just past the Rialto bridge and has some outdoor seating which people tend to fight over (thanks to the group of tourist ladies who stole our table as we were chatting to the waitress...). We had a simple snack: pizza and the checcika mix (yeah, I know I spelled that wrong. Their site is offline as I write this. But, I think this adds character to the review, no?). The pizza was tasty with nice whole small tomatoes and cheese. It seemed more authentic than the more touristy places who are selling pizza which looks more like Domino's then Italy. The checechicca mix had 5 types of toasts, of which the prosciutto was my favorite with crab being a close second. I had a decent glass of Nebbiolo to go along with it. It was a nice spot and the waitress was helpful, though not super attentive, (aka she was Italian). Not sure if I'd do a full meal there, but as it snack, it was fun.

Great location, awesome atmosphere BUT the food is awful and overpriced. Would not recommend!!! Service was just Ok and the food tasted like canned food or even worse. You can find much better places for much less!!!

Located Right by the Rialto bridge on the San Polo side. When you are going away from San Marco, go over the bridge, and make right to hug the Gran Canal and it's before the fish market. We came here for drinks at the end of our food tour. It's a place to try the traditional Venetian Spritzi - Prosecco, sparkling water, and your choice of: 1. Amperol 2. Campari 3. Cynar Drinks are great, service is less than par. We stayed pretty late chatting away and they pulled all the tables around us to let us know it was time to leave. Two days later, we came to have out last Spritzi and they didn't allow us to eat outside unless we ordered lunch. Bathrooms are upstairs. It's really an after dinner drink place where you can view the Gran Canal, sit outside, and have bathroom a bathroom break.

Recommend!! We asked the server for suggestions and she had excellent choices for us. We had the carne tartar and lasagnetta. Being situated by the grand canal is another bonus. Watched the gondoliers travel up and down the canal. Great lunch!

I do not recommend this place because of the personnel. Location is good and view is cool but the people who work here are unbearable! Bad vibes and mood, look tired and they were not bringing us a bill for more than 40 mins, and after even they got very angry when we wanted to pay by card. Unbearable!

This is the view from the cafe. It is worth every euro to sit here and watch the canal traffic.

This place feels less crowded then the places you will find on the busier side of the Rialto. The service was good but it is worth it because it sits right along the canal where the gondolas pass and pick up. Sitting in the canal and watching the canal traffic added to my Venetian experience. Prices are reasonable by Venice standards.

    Afternoon refreshments and breathtaking view!

Perfect place for an afternoon drink and a small bite in Venezia. It's right next to the Grand Canal so it's a great place to relax and watch the gondolas ride by while enjoying some refreshments. They also have 20 minutes of free wifi, just ask your server for a code!

Excellent lasagna and fresh salad. Both a bit salty, great ambiance and the far, and more quiet, side of the Rialto bridge. Right on the Grand canal.

2 words- food poisoning. We came here for dinner on our first night in Venice because of the great…read morereviews. The staff was so kind and helpful! We sat indoors which felt so nice with the AC! The food and drinks were okay taste-wise. I would give the taste a 6.5 out of 10. Good yet not tons of flavor. The food was good for filling our tummies in the moment but not good enough to return. The worst part - food poisoning. I had the calamari and boyyyyy was I sick afterwards. It turned our experience from "okay" to "ouchhhhh". Unfortunately, we will not be returning for more. :(

Was able to make a reservation for 3 somehow on some local platform (spouse) for 8 pm Sunday…read moreevening in June. Other walk in accommodated as much as possible. Arrived a bit early and seated at window seat inside immediately. The inside is cozy but adequate. The staff hustled and were very efficient and friendly. We ordered the seafood special based upon walking in and seeing a huge pan on fresh seafood on table and thus made it easy for me and the kid to decide. It was their house special at 35 euros per person (minimum 2). Included lobster and a bunch of shrimp, clams, mussels, and calamari in a red broth. Also two large scallops. Takes at least 30 minutes to prep so need the appetizers to get you by. The also close out the special by tossing in pasta after your done with the seafood into the remaining broth. Full disclosure it's a mess to eat. Must use hands. The cover you with s bib. It was delicious. The spouse does not like briny seafood so she didn't eat much but more than enough for 3 (except not for the scallops and lobster portion). We started with a few appetizers. Spouse had the lasagna. It looked good and home made but again I ignored it due to the mountain in front of me. A few drinks and bottle of water. I wish the pasta was available before the end but understand they want to toss it into your pan of sauce. I had originally asked to order a pasta to complement but they said it came with a pasta after ( so I agreed ). Obviously we are tourist so I can't take extra home of which would have been plenty. Total cost about 143 euros. (No additional taxes or tip). Credit card available but we needed to roll home to hotel so left 150 cash on table.
