    Gnocchi
    Pablo C.

We always come here when we come to Venice and have never beed disappointed with the food or service. As far as restaurants go, we have never really been floored by restaurants in Venice. Most are tourist traps that are just passable at best. There are, however, some hidden gems that we have stumbled across and I would say that this is one of them. The food is very fresh and carefully prepared and served. We had the gnocchi, pasta and the fish platter. Everyone loved their meal. On another trip to Venice, pre-COVID, we came here a few times and the menu seemed larger back then than it is now. They used to have a sort of "build your own" steak tartar that was absolutely wonderful but which was not on the menu when we went this time. Still, what they did have was terrific. They also have a large selection of freshly made chichetti that we didn't try but which looks really good. As far as location, it is very close to the Rialto Bridge, but it is tucked away in a sort of corner with a back patio that dead ends into a smaller canal. They often have live music and on this particular night had a pianist. It seemed like a spot where locals congregate. The bottom line: This is a really good restaurant hidden away in a mountain of tourist traps. The food is as good as you will find in Venice and the ambiance is great.

Interesting place to try chichetti. It was more of a local place. We ordered a brioche, bruschetta and a crostini. Drinks and food were reasonably priced. Worth checking out to see how the Venetians do tapas.

This is the first place I visited in Venice. Bacarando is such a hidden gem in the most touristy part of Venice. The local vibe and people were great. It was recommended by Venice Free Walking tour for an affordable local place for delicious Cicchetti and other snacks food for Euro 1.5 - 2 each. I love this place so much that I ended up coming there 3 times (was tempting to come back for the 4th, but I didn't). Thus I tried all kind of seafood snacks they had including Salmond mini pizza, Squid, and fried Mozzarella Salmond. Their Sprit was good for 2.5 as well.

Found this place walking near the Arsenal and it was packed so we decide to stop. It took us about 15 mins to get a free table and the place looked quite cosy and had a nice ambience to it. Unfortunately this was the first place we stopped at in Venice where the service was totally uncoordinated and seemed a bit random. Seeing that I had yet to try Cicchetti in Venice, I decided to order it for starter. Cicchetti (also sometimes spelled "cichetti" or "cicheti") are small snacks or side dishes, typically served in traditional "bàcari" (cicchetti bars or osterie) in Venice, Italy. The taste was good with some of it and some items were pretty tasteless. Partway through my starter the main arrived and I had barely eaten half of my starter. This was a bit disorganized and so I put aside my platter and got stuck into the main. I must admit the fish was cooked to perfection and I loved it. Dessert was tiramisu and it was really nice as was my coffee. They did forget the bill and also the couple next to us waited ages to get their bill. A couple of times they tried to deliver someone else's order to us and similarly deliver our order to another table. I would come back here but given the choices in town this place won't be in the top of my list :-)

    Squid ink pasta

Three words. Squid. Ink. Pasta. Do it! The squid ink pasta I had wasn't too salty or weird as I thought it may turn out to be. Just a hint of saltiness and an earthiness that may be attributed to the sliced truffle (I believe it was a truffle/mushroom, hard to tell when it's all black) but delicious all the same. Do not panic a day later in the bathroom, because yes that black ink keeps its color on the way out. The fact that this location is hard to find and really seems to be a hole in the wall place from the outside, and spacious lair with an outdoor seating in the back adds to its charm. You'd have to be hopelessly lost or absolutely a local to find it. Excellent service here too.

    ROCK HARD stale bread

STAY AWAY. If you are looking at eating in the restaurant section of this place, run in the opposite direction and find literally anything else! We started with rock hard STALE bread, which we were charged for even after complaining. Then, we were brought (suspiciously quickly) our pasta dishes...AWFUL. VERY TINY, and tasted gross. On the first bite...an overload of salt, squishy pasta that tasted frozen, mushy meat like from a bad Wendy's chili. It was a nightmare, and we all immediately started discussing it in amazement! Suddenly the stale bread wasn't all that bad in comparison! Our servers seemed very confused the entire time, like we were their only customers of the week, or they had never even seen customers. It took three of them, communicating in Italian, to determine how to respond when we asked for the check. One member of our party didn't eat any more and complained and asked for a refund for her meal, and the server's response was "but your friend ate it." Incredibly rude and not understanding at all. We were all unanimously very disappointed. I don't often give 1 star ratings, but this truly deserves a 0.

Ist dinner in Venice. Very welcoming. Speak English and friendly. Make good recommendations for food and wine. Can hang at the bar, join in at the lounge, or eat up in quieter area. Queen scallops tasty but tiny. Seafood pasta for 2 was enough for 3. Priced reasonable. Bottle of wine about 20 euro. Pasta for 2 26 euro. Hatd to find but worth it.

    Cicchetti plate for 3

Went searching for a good non-touristy place for lunch and after 2 strikeouts due to being way too crowded, we found this place, which was also very crowded but had some tables available. The service was a little confusing but once I ordered their cicchetti for 3 and got our table, everything was splendid. We were going to a Festa Redentore feast at 9pm so wanted something to hold us over until then (it was about 1pm.) When the plate arrived, WOW, we were seriously worried we'd be too full for the feast. Calamari, full shrimp, Sardines in saor, smoked salmon on ricotta with strawberry. So so good. Just look at the photo.

A hidden gem in Venice. Good food, good service, great atmosphere. And most importantly; not touristy.

Worst place I've ever eaten in my entire life. The pasta with was small and disgusting. The waiters were unwelcoming.
