Came here after traveling by bus from Slovenia and it was a 5 minute walk from the Mestre Station. I had read some reviews that seemed promising and thought I'd have Italian food for my first meal. I'll start here - the manager approached me while I was sitting alone and asked me where I'm from. I said California to which he replied "no, originally. Are you Chinese because you have..." and he pulls his eyes back like a fucking racist then proceeds to compliment me on my beauty? It was a confusing and shitty experience. Then they bring out the most hard and dry bread basket along with a half ass Spritz. I ordered the Carbonara, which I expect to be excellent since I've had it many times in Rome and have made it from scratch myself... it was trash. I ate four bites and had to stop. I think they use cream instead of egg yolks. Also, they've decided to omit the prices from the "tourist" menu. Shady, boring and inedible. Do better. read more

The hotel front desk person recommended this place and also the pasta with clams which is what I ordered. They offer menu in several languages but with no price. The food was pretty good overall and the service was good at first but when they get busy, it got slower. The seafood soup was surprisingly good and it was thick. Pasta was also good and they gave you lots of clams. I wish I could try more items from the menu but was just too full. If I'm around next time, I'll come back. read more

I am so glad we stumped on this place thanks to Yelp! This little quaint family owned restaurant is a must for those staying in the Maestre area. The food, we both had the Seafood Spaghetti (10 euros each) was literally the BEST seafood pasta dish I've ever had. It was perfectly seasoned and the pasta with the red sauce is to die for. We also started with a grilled veggies as an appetizer and that did not disappoint either. The owner gave us a limoncello on the house because he saw that we were new to the area. Everyone was so friendly and we had the best service. Totally recommending this place. read more

The restaurant was located in Mestre which is on the mainland. It was a group of four of us and we split a bottle of house Cabernet which was great! The owner was a nice gentlemen who came and took our order and all of us wanted to get something different to try but I wasn't allowed because the chef would get mad cooking four different types of entrees? So I got a regular penne pasta with meat sauce which was average even though I wanted to order the seafood risotto. When the entrees came out it came with house bread that was hard as a rock and seemed old. I've never been told at a restaurant that said I couldn't order something that was on the menu. read more

Fabulous last dinner in Italy. Mateo took our order in English and was so sweet to our daughter. Silvia was sweet as well. Our food was delicious. My 2 year old loved the spaghetti carbonara, my husband loved the seafood spaghetti with muscles and clams, and I enjoyed squid ink spaghetti. A wonderful way to say ciao to Venice. The best meal we had in Venice. Their mussels are so tasty and amazing. The meal is served truly Italian style and it's a nice family owned restaurant where the workers are super nice and loving. We all got food poisoning the next day From this. The food was disgusting and we didn't even eat half of our plate because it just tasted gross. will never ever come back. Came here on our last night in Venice and should've come here first. You will have a full Italian experience! A delicious bowl of spaghetti with sauce and loads of clams and mussels, and the cutest older Italian waiters. We were terrible and spoke no Italian but they took such good care of us and even wanted to see if we needed help finding our Airbnb since it was late (they didn't know it was our last night). Sad to say but this meal proved you can get lousy Italian in Italy. The lady at the front desk of my Mestre hotel tried to steer me clear by saying it's a "family restaurant" rather than fancy cuisine but I used jar sauce at home (and add to it) so I'm not so fancy. I'd seen people raving online about the seafood pasta so I went with that. I wasn't particularly hungry but hadn't been getting so much roughage that I ordered a mista salad as well, I think not ordering some sort of meat set off an alarm that knocked me down a level or something. And, I guess because I'm American, the salad was brought first even though I know that's not how it's done here. No dressing so I had to ask for some balsamic to add to the EEOV already on the table for some makeshift moistening of the greens. It helped a bit, not much. The pasta arrived pretty well timed for me finishing the salad. It was a sizable platter of pasta and shellfish. Unfortunately, a good handful of the shells remained closed and I know what that means. Hoping the ones that were open were okay. The red sauce I'd read about was more like pinkish water. No flavor whatsoever. Even tried dipping some of the hard bread into the sauce to taste it separately...yup, nothing! I then tried adding pepper when no one was looking...as though I could insult the cook. I finished it because I was hungry, not because it was good. When they came to ask if I wanted dessert, I thought "What the heck!" and asked for the menu again. Figured I'd try the tiramisu...but then it took forever for the woman to come back so I just said forget it. I don't think they wanted my business. I was even seated at the first table with my back to the front window which I thought was odd for a mostly empty restaurant on a Sunday evening. Then I had to ask for the check the next time I saw her which took some time (they even came to the table while I went to the rest room and cleared away the half carafe from the wine). I'd assumed I was ordering a glass but I won't complain. It wasn't lousy red. Though it was chilled. Who chills red...in Italy?! But being able to drink half of it without any check-in (after being told I wouldn't be looking for dessert) seems a bit It was a family place as explained to me. And for the 2nd night in a row during my trip there was a birthday celebration at a nearby table. I don't think local spots can't be suitable for travellers. Last night's was fine. I'm no food snob. I know what I like. But restaurant fare should definitely be better than my worst leftovers. I will be posting this review on another site in the sense of consistency. read more

OMG I love this place! The people here are awesome...they speak perfectly good English and some Tagalog! My family had the carbonara, lasagne, spaghetti, and combo fish dish...everything was excellent! To top it off, we had the tiramisu...to die for!! read more

This was recommended to us by Paola at the Hotel Cris (a gem of a hotel). The owner is great young guy with a expansive sense of humor. We had the Zuppa Pesce with grilled vegetables & insalata mista + 1/2 liter of the local vino bianco. Great food, fun service at a good price. It just couldn't have been better! read more

Not sure what the other reviewers are, but this food is great! Had spaghetti meatballs, which was "al dente", just like I like it. Also had the scampi risotto, which was really flavorful. The house white wine was good too! Definitely a favorite of the locals, so they don't cater as much to tourists. I'm a fan nonetheless. Salad was "meh". read more

Great food, great service! The wait staff was a little hesitant to seat us at first because we had giant backpacks, but after we Tetris-ed some tables and chairs, we were able to sit without getting in the way of other customers. The service was great - there were some staff who spoke limited English and were a little rough around the edges but everyone was very friendly and the atmosphere was very familial. We had to get the menu translated and they were more than happy to make recommendations and explain certain items. We got the pasta carbonara, squid ink pasta, seafood pasta, and seafood risotto. Everything was well-seasoned without being salty, everything was delicious, and we cleaned our plates. We're only staying in Venice for one and a half days, but even so, we're planning on going back for seconds before we leave. I'd highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Venice. It's only a 10 min train ride from the river - definitely worth it. read more

Was recommended to come here by the owner of the B&B so had fairly high expectations. Boy were those expectations shattered in a million pieces. The food was passable, but absolutely nothing to be raving about. The service however, left the most impression on us, for it was slow, rude and completely unsatisfactory. We ordered two appetizers and two pastas, and the appetizer took about 30 minutes before showing up. Six euros for two scallops is rather overpriced, especially considering the average taste. The pasta was again average, and took about another 30 minutes. Every other restaurant in Italy we visited had faster service, even ones much smaller. At the end we told them that the B&B owner recommended us to come here and that we would get free coffee or dessert, and so he asked us if we wanted coffee or dessert. After getting the bill (took about five attempts and 15 minutes later), we discovered that he decided to charge us full price for the coffee because we "didn't order enough to get free coffee". Had he told us that to begin with we wouldn't even have ordered it! It seems to me as if he knows that you are a tourist, you will probably only visit his restaurant once, and he's gonna extract as much money out of you as he possibly can. I would advise anyone who wants a good meal for the money go look elsewhere, but if you are looking for average food and has extra patience and money, why not give this place a whirl? read more

This is a great Italian place! Their spaghetti with marinara sauce is awesome! I had spaghetti in restaurants and I've made some at home, but I've never had spaghetti that tasted so good and fresh! We also requested a grilled chicken that looked nothing special when it arrived on the table.... was so tender and and salted just right. We were recommended by b&b hotel owners to come to this place. The waitress was very unsatisfactory when she discovered that we only ordered two dishes. When we finished our meal, we found that we were charged with 7 euro seat fee and another 10% service fee, which was unbelievable because she did not serve us at all. I felt that we were deceived and robbed of some money because we were tourists here. So anyone who are looking for bad service and expensive fee with average taste could consider coming here.
