We had a reservation for December 10th, a Saturday evening, 8 pm. We, that is my wife and I and four friends. We stayed in Mestre to pay a quick visit tot Venezia, but went back to Mestre for dinner: the chance of a restaurant being better in Mestre than in Venezia was quite probable.
Eight o'clock was a good time to enter because it started to get busy by that time. After an aperitivo we had ample time to order the courses. We kept it tot a primo e secundo piatta. I can tell only about my own dishes how they tasted, but I can also tell that everyone had really appetizing food, ample and delicious. So were the wines. I ordered reds and whites off of the wine menu, al of them between € 16 and € 23. Not too cheap, not too expensive, but tasteful in any way.
My primo piatto was fettucini with minced lamb meat. Bit of grano pardano in a small bowl to enhance the taste. Well cooked, simply beautiful. Good to have a bit of sturdy food in your stomach, after a day of walking and being thirsty as well (with the wine vaporizing, it seemed).
My second dish was a tuna steak covered in black and white sesame seeds, accompanied by some roasted vegetables. My friends didn't dare to order it: they thought it would be a sort of sushi because of the sesame. But no, the tuna was very tender, the taste was really italian and the dish looked so well.....awwwwwwww!
Meanwhile, the (young) staff were very kind, patient and correct.Even when the wine was getting a bit tot our heads, they stayed very professional. Excellent.
I was the only one to have a dessert. I ordered a scroppino an my o my, that was a good one, A lemon scroppino like I've never tasted before. Try is at once in your life time, and certtainly in Italy in a good restaurant.
The bill was very correct in relation to the quality of food and the quantity of drinks. Let's say about € 55 a person, everything included. Worth very while. Big plus for Dante: food made in heaven, and the veggies roasted in hell. (And three hours of dining). read more
