José is the man! Coming from a Chinese perspective, he carries a Chinese tradition of being whole-heartedly hospitable and making every guest feel welcome right from entering the restaurant. Indeed, he kindness has made me feel like home, since he allows me staying after dinner to sit and relax at this little nice place. I ordered the pan-fried pine nut cod fish, crafted by Chef Frederick. Chef Frederick did an distinctivejob by combing the crispiness from the pine nuts themselves with the cookstyle of frying. Avoid at all cost! Should have listen to my husband and gone to a foos stand for a sandwich. Even Wendy's would probably be better. I got a farmers omelet. It was watery and bitter. I didn't want to cause a seen because the food came fast and I just ate it. Husband had a sandwich on a croissant that he said was ok. We had a two hour lay over so I decided to order a dessert. For all who had been to jfk you know it's a system where you order and a server brings it to you. 10,15 , 20 min later no dessert . I asked the server who said it on its way. Another 20 min later a "manager" comes and says they are out of raspberry's . It took them 40 min to find out they didn't have raspberry's . Ok I asked for a refund . She told me she will be right back. Another 20 min I went up to her and she said she will bring it to me. In about 15 more minutes I went up to her again and finally got my check with the refund for the dessert. Note to upper management : I observed this girl who was behind the bar talk to other tables. She is not even close to being able to handle those situations. She needs training and you need more people. Table next to us said the service was horrible as well. So we landed at the old and tired looking Delta JFK terminal and we're stuck for 3 hours till our connecting flight. None of the restaurants looked that appealing and we chose Due Amici because the menu was broad and people's food looked decent. The food was solid. Pasta dishes are great and good selection of wines. But beyond the food was JOSE our server. He just brightened up the place...I usually hate places where you order through an iPad. But Jose made the experience wonderful and was so attentive. Kudos to his manager STEVE too who clearly runs a great team of happy servers. I mistakenly thought that the average review was for later in the day meals because it's pretty hard to mess up breakfast but I was totally completely wrong. I don't even know what the name of what I ordered was exactly, whether it was steak and eggs or what but it was BAD. The cut of meat was bad, "medium rare" was interpreted as completely well done. I literally wondered whether this was trying to appeal to 45 for his enjoyment of catsup with his well done steak. Everything was cold, from the hunk of grey flesh to the plastic biscuit. The biscuit looks like a real biscuit but tastes absolutely disgusting. No jam unless you want to pay a $1 for the little package of jam. The butter just sits on the cold plastic biscuit. The coffee is ridiculously hot but wait, there is more. I ordered a vanilla latte and then when it arrived it was an americano. Then the server went to the table he delivered the vanilla latte took it back from that woman to give to me. It's so hot that I wait about 5 minutes to try it. But it wasn't a vanilla latte it was a latte. So then the server came to me with some vanilla syrup "so I could add it myself". Seeing my expression he took it and had it remade. But I didn't think to wait because he's standing right there waiting to confirm that it's made right this time. Burn my tongue, but it's a vanilla latte. A bad vanilla latte but a vanilla latte. Don't fall for the trap here. There aren't a lot of options in this terminal, but please don't waste your money and time here. If you do decide to try it out, a couple of other pointers. To place an order you use the tablet on the table. You must pay before the order is put through. The scan your card device is separate from the tablet (not super obvious at first). Honestly - I want a job here. The servers give HORRIBLE SERVICE and get a 20% tip! Our server made us pay as soon as we were done ordering -- normal? I don't know... And he quickly said SIGN HERE PRESS OKAY. Next thing I realize when i checked the bill in my e-mail address - 20% tip was added without me even confirming it. So la-dee-da-dee-da....Our server can now take his sweet as time - he already got a $25 tip so he can go on Instagram, flirt with the bartender, eat his sandwich.... I was a server myself for 7 years - but I needed to work for my $25 tip. Stay away! Any place that requires you to tip before you know what kind of service you are going to get should tell you something. First, on the menu for "egg dishes" they show a nice picture of eggs Benedict...but you can't order eggs Benedict. My "over medium " came over very hard. Nothing medium about them. I ordered coffee and juice assuming that I would have the coffee while waiting for my meal. I had to ask for my coffee and juice when my meal was delivered. I have low expectations from any airport dining experience. Decided on this place because I had to kill 2 hours and didn't want to eat off my lap. I waited by the host stand for approximately 5 minutes no one addressed me. No empty seats. A booth opened up so I sat myself. Ordering is from kiosks so it appeared that the only humans were food runner and bus people. After I settled in and ordered I was told I could not sit there alone. She was condescending. I told her there was no staff at the front of the house. She offered me a seat with another single traveler. I moved on. If the hostess stand was properly staffed I'd sit anywhere. I'm still undecided as to how I feel about sharing a table with strangers, especially when that includes a rambunctious, spoiled, inattentive child. The canned reply that has also been posted to every other review is not convincing. Making things right probably entails changing things up a bit, here's some thoughts: 1.Maybe a small section of ipads for single travelers in more of a hurry and in need of less attention. The waiter advised us to not even use it anyway, as he added the group's order to the iPad himself. Other patrons needed this explained too, seems like alot of time wasted on something that was supposed to make things more efficient. 2. More waiters to provide full service to each table. You can't just assume that everything is going well, that leads to problems that get vented on Yelp. The waiter could have fixed this if he wasn't so busy taking orders, explaining ipads and running food. I feel your waiters are set up to fail. 3. No payment or gratuity up front. Based on my experience, I don't see how gratuity was even warranted. The service was almost non-existent. 4. Food quality and preparation. Like I said, it was lukewarm and reheated, and obviously not fresh in any way. 5. The prices being charged now are not reflective of the food quality or service. 6. This place is horrible, the carpets smelled, the service was extremely slow, the quickest thing was getting sat. I ordered the chicken fingers and fries with a sprite. You have to pay and order from your table using an iPad which was fine except the system doesn't give you the option to say no ice, and I couldn't get the waitress to come over to let her know "no ice". The chicken fingers were as dry as possible, they looked like they had previously been cooked and dropped back into the fryer to give the perception that it was freshly cooked. The fries were barely look warm and didn't appear fresh. I did send the fries back for new ones which they took care of. The one thing I was disappointed in was getting my food took 10-15 minutes and when I requested fresh fries they wouldn't let me keep the chicken though I was starving and asked. They offer no sauces other than Mayo ketchup and tabasco which I thought was strange, specifically because the pre-battered chicken tenders they use have zero flavor. There was virtually no spinach and the eggs were burnt. The potatoes were soggy. My water came with an unwanted friend in it and had be changed. The table was dirty. Oh did I mention the food sucked. iPad ordering system really is in your face the whole meal. Despite the order automation they forgot one of our items and the process to not pay for it was painful. They finished the order for me on the iPad, which included an 18% auto selected gratuity charge, and my tip didn't go down despite the fact that a 20$ item was never brought out. I would do everything in my power to avoid restaurants with this system. The food was ok, kind of what you expect at an airport, but definitely not as good as other places read more

Its all over their iPads that are used for charging. - rude waiters - bland food, a simple sandwich is 14 bucks, a beer is 8. - I was in the restaurant for about 45 minutes, including waiting time, ordering and eating food. - I was then told that there is a queue and was asked to "work outside". Basically I was booted out of the restaurant by the waiter. Totally unacceptable. A fellow traveler sitting next to me, was for some reason not allowed to order a burger until she had to explain in detail why she wanted it! This place sucks, give it a miss. I feel the need to comment on these two things. I had the linguini with clams. The pasta was properly cooked and the clams were really nice. It could have been improved with a squirt of lemon or some pepper or parmesan to break up the buttery garlic flavor. I was bothered more by the iPads permanently attached to the center of the table, one per seat. Mine didn't even work to place my order and then it was in the way for the rest of the meal.
