Was recently Ferriday way for a high school football game. Love this place, the atmosphere was great and the bar was festive. The poor lady was our host, bartender, and waitress, let me tell you it was packed and this girl was a 5star everything. The food was outstanding, the drinks were tight & errything was spot on. We have a restaurant in Monroe and we me the owners that night and we could not have had a better experience except maybe a nap & a ride home. The owners were great and our waitress/bartender/hostess was da bomb. On a scale of 1-10 this place was a 9. The only deduction was because we lost the football game If ever we're in the area, no doubt that's where we'll be eating. Matter fact we may make the drive just for a dinner date. Two weeks ago my friend and I went to the Duck's Nest to eat. We were really looking forward to it because we hadn't eaten there in many, many months. We were seated in the room immediately past the cash register. When we placed our order for drinks we asked to move to sit out back with a lake view. The waitress inquired, we were denied, and were told we had to specifically ask to be seated in that location when we first came in. We were there shortly after they opened and hardly any patrons had arrived yet. Therefore, we could not and still cannot understand what the issue was? And after having driven that far, it sort of ruined our appetites. The gumbo that I ordered was delicious but I ate just a little and took the rest with me. She ordered a hamburger but said she didn't enjoy it. I rate the experience a one out of five. read more

We stayed next door at Spokane for a benefit bass tournament, and my boyfriend had eaten here before and loved it, so it was a no brainer to grab dinner here. The wait for a table was unfortunately very very long, so by the time we were able to get one, we were starving and dying of thirst. The food made up for it though. We started with the onion rings, which were huge and crispy. Side salads were good and fresh too. He got the seafood platter and I got the ribeye. Both meals were cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. Service once we got inside was very good too. We'll be back for sure, hopefully at a much less busier time frame! read more

We went in a Friday night just after they opened. It was early and not busy. Our service was slow the whole meal. We ran out of drinks after we finally got them. Had to ask for refills. The food was just average. The temperature when it finally came out was only warm. Parts of our order was missing and had to be asked for. They brought bbq out twice for salad dressing. I have always enjoyed the Duck's Nest II, so this review is a review just for my meal on this visit. Tonight I tried their charbroiled oysters. I rarely find a seafood Resteraunt that serves them, so I was excited to see them on the menu. I fell in love with Charbroiled Oysters at Drago's in Metairie and New Orleans. Unfortunately, these were very disappointing. Too much cheese, too little butter, no charbroiled taste. It was if they were broiled in an oven. read more

I've been twice and had similar experiences both times. Painfully slow service for average fried food. This second time, we didn't even get all of our food but were so ready to leave we just asked for our ticket. I had the blackened shrimp dinner. It came with a sad side salad, 10 shrimp which were fine, and a baked potato that never showed up - for $17. Even though my family spends lots of time on Lake St. John, I have no intentions of returning to the Duck's Nest. read more

I made reservations for myself, my mother, a friend and her daughter for Mother's Day. We arrived a few minutes early, and were seated immediately. The wood tables were clean, the atmosphere is that of a laid back Louisiana "elbow lake" which is exactly what Lake St. John is, so it was perfect. I ordered a ribeye, my mom ordered the small catfish dinner, and my friend and her daughter split a Filet. Everyone's food arrived at the table quickly and everything was tasty. The staff were attentive and refilled drinks as needed. I don't know what kind of service the bad reviews got, but our experience was awesome. When we were getting ready to leave, there was a couple of groups of people waiting for tables, but that was expected on Mother's Day without a reservation... My mother and I live about an hour away and we will be making the drive again to eat here. THANKS GUYS!!!!! read more

So I am from this area and I have a lot of Facebook friends that go to this place for special occasions, but I can't imagine why. The decor is folding tables and plastic table clothes. The management of the place needs to step down. He had busboys running food and waitresses bussing tables. We even enjoyed him screaming at one of the waitresses in front of a room of customers (we were on the "patio", a closed in paneled dark room), she was at the far end of the patio and HE stuck his head in the door long enough to scream at her that she wasn't working hard enough. I hope by now that lady and our waitress have come to their senses and found another job. I told our waitress I hope her night got better and she said she was "so stressed out". The whole thing was hard to watch. On to the food. I got the fried shrimp and baked potato with a salad. What they called a salad was bagged lettuce with a small (and I mean small) amount of cheddar on top. The shrimp was room temp. I asked the waitress about the hush puppies that come with my meal. She said the manager told them they were throwing too many away, so unless someone asks for them they can't give them out. We got them and they were clearly fried in the same grease as fish and tasted like fish. Well now we know why they are throwing so many away, the puppies don't taste good. My mother got the catfish/shrimp combo. Her food was cold. Even the fries were limp. My niece got fried crawfish tails. She couldn't understand why someone would serve crawfish with no seasoning. She made a spicy sauce from what was on the table and said they were better, she didn't eat many. My brother in law got the catfish platter, he enjoyed pulling bone after bone out of his fish. He said the batter for the fish was not a corn meal based coating, not crispy, just blah. My sister (her birthday celebration) completely enjoyed her steak, but you really have to mess up a steak for my sister not to like it. She was completely happy, so that was the only thing that I was happy about that night. My brother in law ended the evening (the very long evening 2 and 1/2 hours) with we don't have to come back. Frankly I am now sure why anyone goes there. I understood it just reopened with new management, well that made the poor food night sad because this place is really bad. read more
