We ordered steak (filet) & salmon. The steak was cooked correctly. The salmon was served with a strawberry jalapeno glaze. We ordered dessert as well. They have a cheesecake of the day. Stopped here for dinner on the 4th weekend holiday. It was recommended by many. We were so hungry and the food was so good we forgot to take pics. I got the mushroom burger, and it was so juicy without being greasy. My partner git a catfish plate with shrimp Parmesan and mushrooms and wow what a combo. Our waitress Rhonda was so sweet and perfectly attentive. we had the lunch special Salmon stuffed with crabmeat served over asparagus, & had grilled zucchini and tasso cheese grits as our sides. Truly one of the best salmon dishes I've had! (Picture for proof) We sat in the sunroom overlooking the mississippi river, so beautiful and I can only believe it's better during dinner and a sunset. An outstanding must visit in beautiful Natchez, Mississippi, right beside the Mighty Mississippi River. This restaurant had the ambiance, the delicious food and amazing, friendly service. Hubby and I shared a cup of gumbo and it was on point! He ordered the salad topped with fried crawfish and delicious creole mustard vinaigrette and I had the Catfish Briars. I was very impressed with all of the food and apparently the Catfish Briars dish is one of their most popular items. You cannot beat the historical significance of this lovely restaurant or the views of the red poppies, the river and the glorious bridge. When visiting Natchez Mississippi, you shouldn't miss this outstanding restaurant right on the river where the river boat stop we ate on the upper level where there are glass windows to see the river and and the river boat was in. I had a delicious salad with shrimp, goat cheese, and pecans. Let me start with this: if you don't like your food, THEY WILL NOT refund your money. My mom, grandmother, and I ordered the crab & corn bisque and stuffed mushrooms, both delicious. The fried green tomatoes were okay, and the shrimp pasta was good too. The issue was the shrimp and grits. The sauce was way sweeter than expected, and my grandmother genuinely didn't like it, so we sent it back untouched after a few bites. Our waitress Sara was extremely helpful and even offered us free gumbo, so no complaints about her at all. But when the bill came, the shrimp and grits were still charged. The manager only offered 25% off for a dish that was sent back and barely eaten. That honestly rubbed me the wrong way. Customer service like that is disappointing, especially considering the price point. Probably won't be back. read more

Now this is Southern! Multiple varieties of shrimp preparation are available, but I had the mahi mahi. Cooked in butter, served with butter and pepper. I know there was fish in there, but it was drenched in the most delicious butter sauce. Delicious. Two sides included excellent grilled asparagus and fries. Best of all was our waiter. Really good char grilled flavor. Mike ordered medium to medium well. It wasn't cooked evenly. One side was more like medium to medium rare and the other was medium. The buns were soft and pillowy. The toppings were top notch. Red onion that wasn't too strong, a juicy slice of tomatoes. The fries were a let down. Scant amount and some cheap frozen fries. Our aunt and uncle shared the bacon Swiss chicken sandwich. They pretty said what we did about our entire food experience. Good but not I can't wait to go back delicious. Their sweet potato fries were so much better than ours and they got twice the amount. I was so excited to see a coconut buttermilk pie on the menu. I was disappointed to find that it was a bit dry. We got two slices and we both agreed that the flavor was great, but the pie was dry. Is it possible it was baked earlier in the week? I don't know. But if it's that dry fresh, I can't imagine what it's like a couple of days later. All that to say. It's a good place for a decent burger, but I'm not sure we will return. I visit with my family a year ago. While in town, I went back specifically for the fried green tomatoes. I was greatly disappointed! There was too much batter on it and it was fried extremely too hard. The sauce was more cheesy than I expected. I was not a fan of it. Also had the gumbo (subpar), spinach and artichoke dip (so much cheese that it was hard to taste the spinach or artichoke). The pita bread was burnt and I sent it back. The next batch of pita was warm but the dip was cold and unappetizing. The yellowfin tuna was not seasoned or prepared well. There was 4 of us and no one finished there food. It was a waste. The baked potatoe was not fresh. It looked like it was prepared, frozened, thawed and reheated. Very dry. The corn, shrimp bisque also was blain and not good. The hosts of our bed and breakfast highly recommended Magnolia Grill; however, we found it somewhat overrated. Because of the wait time, we chose to sit at the bar which we will often do. The bar is small and doesn't have a dedicated bartender - the waitstaff seem to each do their own drinks. I note this because sitting at the bar often results in bits of local information that add to the experience because of the bartender. The food was fine but nothing special since now, a week later, I cannot remember what I had while I can remember a meal at another Natchez restaurant. The waitress who helped us was attentive and friendly - I guess it's just that nothing stood out to warrant the strong push from our lodging hosts to visit the Magnolia Grill. I've eaten the ribeye here a few times. Twice it was very good and once it was just mediocre, but not because of the chef. I just feel the first two times the cut of the ribeye was better than the third time. But don't let that stop you from coming to Magnolia grill. The restaurant came recommended by a local. We went for dinner, my wife and i. She had red fish i had BBQ shrimp. Was really looking forward to it as i hadn't had it since eating it at the Gumbo Shop in New Orleans. It finally came to the table 8 small to med. Sized shrimp drowning in a giant bowl of butter. Yes, the seasoning was at the bottom of the swimming bowl of butter, but it was so diluted by the volume of butter I couldn't take anything but butter. This was served with bread. GREAT! Part of eating the BBQ Shrimp is dipping the bread in there and getting some butter and the seasoning flavors together. Nope, got nothing but butter. Was hugely disappointed. My wife had the red fish and it was much better. Nice restaurant location right on the river so you can watch the swift current move things along on the river. My husband and I had the BEST dinner here during a Christmas trip to Natchez. The shrimp and grits were the best I've ever had. I make them a few times a year and would humbly rate mine an eight. These go to 11. The grits look dense, but they were fluffy and peppery. There was a generous amount of shrimp which were cooked perfectly. My husband had the pan fried red fish that was sensational. I don't know how they keep the coating crunchy while drizzled with brown creole gravy, but they do! The stuffed potato that came with the meal was huge and delicious! It was such a fantastic dinner, I asked that the chef come over to thank him. It was a father and son team in the kitchen, Ken and KJ. Each man made one of our dinners, so they both came over to the table. I hugged them both because the meals were so yummy. On top of the excellent food, the service was perfect. Ultimate casual dining in Natchez. Good comfort food with a local twist, and nice views of the Mississippi River. Server was really nice (a bit slow and had to ask for silverware), and had good recommendations, and was good with my toddler without making him the center of attention. (Appreciate that so much!) I had the pork tenderloin with steamed broccoli and baked potato, and added a cup of French onion. The soup made my toddler say "WOW" and ask for more and more. Stopped at the Magnolia Grill during our visit to Natchez. It is located "Under the Hill" where the shady people used to hang out. We were seated promptly by a very nice young lady, and our order was taken promptly. My wife had shrimp & Grits, she said it was the best she ever had. (I'll take her word because I don't eat grits.) I had catfish Louisiane which was also very good. Chocolate Pecan pie for dessert was wonderful. We were seated on the enclosed porch so we could see the tugboats and barges going up & down the Mississippi. My only complaint is the parking is very tight in the Under the Hill area. read more
