Spinach salad with oysters
MikeTammie L.

Have we chosen a bad time to visit Natchez? This was the second place today that has great reviews on Yelp but we found to be disappointing. Everyone raves about the biscuits but we found them to be little hockey pucks. The apricot butter was really good! It feels like a pub with Sanford and Son on a TV at the bar. We love the wall of old doors and the original beadboard ceilings. We arrived at 7pm. Not many people there at all. We were greeted by a nice young man. Our server was a pleasant woman. Our aunt got the oyster and spinach salad. She said the oysters needed more seasoning but she was pleased overall. Our uncle wasn't super hungry so he went straight for dessert. You could have used that bread pudding for a hockey puck (I see a theme here). It was hard and dry. Either overcooked or not enough custard was poured over the bread. Or both. It was not good at all. Mike had the ribs and Great Value crinkle cut fries. He said not the worst ribs but definitely not the best. I had the Chicken Acadian. This came with a salad which was good, albeit the anemic tomato and hamburger dill slices. The lettuce was crisp and the homemade ranch was delicious. The chicken Acadian was a huge disappointment. A thin chicken breast cooked to oblivion covered in a mushroom and crawfish cream that tasted strongly of muddy crawfish. Ugh. Oh well, a trip to The Malt Shop for a chocolate shake made it all better

Love the atmosphere but the meal was a lazy miss. The bloody Mary tasted like tomato juice and pepper, nothing special. I got the crawfish and mushroom beignets, the beignet was hard as though it was old. The sauce was okay nothing wow. I'm from Louisiana and expected so much more. The roast beef pi boy was very good, but the lack of beer choices was not an addition. This place could be amazing, but it needs some attention to detail. The blues was smooth, and the staff very friendly.

I had just finished a few things when I was hungry. I came here because it looked interesting. I was greeted and told to sit anywhere. I came in about 2p, so they weren't busy. They brought out these biscuits with butter that I think must be addictive. It had orange peel in it and was just so good. I got the grilled shrimp penne pasta with Alfredo and it was very good as well. But those biscuits with that butter! I will have to come back!

This was a decent meal during COVID, when options in town were really limited. There was no live music, which is understandable during a pandemic. But there was no blues music playing, either - just some sorta bluesy classic rock standards. Staff were inconsistent with mask use; they were often half or completely off. Food was pretty decent. Biscuits were fine, and the accompanying apricot butter was very good. Crawfish and corn chowder was really rich and creamy; the bowl was a very generous portion. Side salad was weird: iceberg with halved cherry tomatoes, grated cheese, and hamburger dill pickle slices. BBQ was a decent portion and sauce was good.

White chocolate raspberry bread pudding

Food was delicious. Wonderful couple who own, cook & manage. One of the top three in Natchez.

Super cool dining experience!

Super cool building in downtown Natchez! Apricot biscuits were great! I ordered the special of the day which was Roast Beef with French Fries and added a cup of Red Beans and Rice. Husband ordered Roast Beef Po Boy and a cup of Gumbo. It was all delicious, but the Gumbo and the Red Beans were amazing! Will definitely go again when nearby!

This place does not rest on their laurels because they are located in Natchez's historic district. Fast friendly service and wonderful food.

Had the crawfish chowder and crawfish nachos. Was disappointed in both. Both were kind of bland.

Bowie's Rabbit Hole - Andouille Sausage PoBoy

One big room with 12 tables and about a dozen seats at the bar. The bar itself is cool and warm with the dark wood. You can tell a lot of people have use the bar for their food and drinks - in a good way. A great place to have a conversation but can become really loud due to its "open feel". NOTE: There is an outdoor seating area three or four tables so that might the area for you. Just tell you will be sitting out there for your meal. Food: 3.25 Stars Ordered the half size Andouille Sausage PoBoy w a side of Seasoned Curly Fries. (Extra) everything is a la carte. So, the PoBoy has so much more potential to be better. The best part is the sausage. About 6" link halved. The Cajun seasoning was yummy and spicy. It brought the heat. The sausage was fire charred and you will like the burnt ends though it was slightly chewy. Gotta' work your dentures. The "slaw" mixtures uses a vinegar based dressing and was a good complement to the sausage however, there wasn't a lot on the sandwich. The pickles were so-so. The bread was buttered and toasted but it needs mayo, come-back sauce or mustard to bring the sandwich to higher level. The seasoned curly was nicely fried and tasted decent. You get a healthy portion of it which was much appreciated however my guy says, "You don't need it, BUT you really do"! So would I ordered this again? Only if it came with a lot more slaw or mayo or mustard. NOTE: I saw the person ordered Cheeseburger Sliders and the ordered were three of them. Maybe next time I'll order it. Just need to make sure to have bed available to sleep of the meal. Service: 4 Stars Bartender / Server was pleasant and friendly but was busy due to the lunch crowd. Lack of staff - welcome to the current world we live in.

Frankie’s on Main - Frog legs

Frankie’s on Main

(44 reviews)

The Living History tour summoned us for a first time visit to Natchez. We wanted to see what the…read moreTikTok hype was about at Frankie's so we made lunch reservations for four. First, the location is perfect - central to shopping and several tour homes. The interior is creative and beautiful with vibrant colors and interesting art throughout. We were there for lunch, but the bar area looked like a great place for a drink. The food was amazing - quality food with some unique selections - definitely chef worthy. The portions were also substantial. I highly recommend giving Frankie's a try. So why the two stars? I rarely take the time to give an eatery a less than 4-star review, but the service experience should be honestly noted. We were one of the first to arrive well before the lunch crowd, and slightly earlier than our reservation. They seated us right away. There was only one or two other tables seated before us. We received our appetizers promptly and then waited ONE HOUR AND 20 MINUTES for the main course to arrive. We went quite some time without explanation. When the delay reached an absurd amount of time, the waitress eventually ask okwedged the situation and apologized. She explained that the kitchen had 2 other "events" to manage and were overwhelmed. They must have been offsite events since there were not any large groups in the dining area and the vault dining room was empty. The main dining room filled up while we were waiting, but food was not coming out of the kitchen. Our waitress seemed to go to the kitchen several times to check on our food. We completely missed the 1:00 tour and was worried we were going to miss the 2:00 tour. We finally had to ask if we needed to wrap up without eating so we wouldn't miss a second tour. A waitress cannot help what the kitchen is doing or not doing. She seemed genuinely distressed. Now here's the kicker... the owner Frankie himself passed by our table no less than 20 times. Each time he looked at our table without food and made zero eye contact. It was obvious that he knew we had been sitting for an extraordinary amount of time and that the waitress was trying to get some help, but his emotions appeared completely indifferent. If our business as tourists were important to him, it sure didn't feel like it. This was shocking to us, so we had to look up his photo to make sure this was indeed Frankie. Did he need to talk to us? No, but it sure would have been nice. What was shocking was his willingness to lay the burden of this service debacle on the shoulders of the wait staff. Rather than help her manage customer expectations and help the kitchen or tables, he just watched. We did notice numerous "to-go" orders going out the door sporadically while we waited. When our plates finally arrived, we slammed them quickly. It would have been nice to savor the meals after all of that wait, but we simply did not have the time. Our wait person apologized to us again on our way out. We are gracious and patient and know that things can happen that are beyond control. We did not ask for anything to be comped or discounted, but it would have been reasonable to make such an adjustment or maybe offer a free dessert or cocktail at a future visit. We tipped well. And honestly, we felt bad for her and all the others. On our way out, we noticed Frankie behind the bar talking to a couple. He did not acknowledge us as we walked by.

Reservations are needed but a kind, personable maitre de found a way to seat and serve us. Even sharing red hots with our crowd. From steaks to bao, the food matched the atmosphere and our waitress who was working her second night was stellar with our party of 8. A must see in Natchez.
