Came in for dinner as two members of our party had lunched there before. Unfortunately our wait staff appeared disoriented and under the influence and was rude, telling the party to order something simple to make. His conversation was laced with profanity and we had children with us. Completely unwarranted. We paid for our drinks and left rather than be subjected to his barrage. Neighboring tables experienced the same attitude and another couple walked out with us. Complete shame as we understood that the food was excellent. The two members of our party that were repeaters acknowledged a similar though less traumatic experience with the same waiter on their prior visit, sharing that it was earlier in the day and he wasn't as belligerent but odd and off putting. We were visiting in Natchez and came in for brunch on a Sunday. We were disappointed that they did not offer brunch. We settled for lunch and I ordered the BBQ plate of ribs and grilled chicken quarter. The chicken was tasty and had a good smoked flavor but the ribs were charred, dry and burned. Have we chosen a bad time to visit Natchez? This was the second place today that has great reviews on Yelp but we found to be disappointing. Everyone raves about the biscuits but we found them to be little hockey pucks. The apricot butter was really good! It feels like a pub with Sanford and Son on a TV at the bar. We love the wall of old doors and the original beadboard ceilings. We arrived at 7pm. Not many people there at all. We were greeted by a nice young man. Our server was a pleasant woman. Our aunt got the oyster and spinach salad. She said the oysters needed more seasoning but she was pleased overall. Our uncle wasn't super hungry so he went straight for dessert. You could have used that bread pudding for a hockey puck (I see a theme here). It was hard and dry. Either overcooked or not enough custard was poured over the bread. Or both. It was not good at all. Mike had the ribs and Great Value crinkle cut fries. He said not the worst ribs but definitely not the best. I had the Chicken Acadian. This came with a salad which was good, albeit the anemic tomato and hamburger dill slices. The lettuce was crisp and the homemade ranch was delicious. The chicken Acadian was a huge disappointment. A thin chicken breast cooked to oblivion covered in a mushroom and crawfish cream that tasted strongly of muddy crawfish. Ugh. Love the atmosphere but the meal was a lazy miss. The bloody Mary tasted like tomato juice and pepper, nothing special. I got the crawfish and mushroom beignets, the beignet was hard as though it was old. The sauce was okay nothing wow. I'm from Louisiana and expected so much more. The roast beef pi boy was very good, but the lack of beer choices was not an addition. This place could be amazing, but it needs some attention to detail. I had just finished a few things when I was hungry. I came here because it looked interesting. I was greeted and told to sit anywhere. I came in about 2p, so they weren't busy. They brought out these biscuits with butter that I think must be addictive. It had orange peel in it and was just so good. But there was no blues music playing, either - just some sorta bluesy classic rock standards. Staff were inconsistent with mask use; they were often half or completely off. Food was pretty decent. I went hoping for beer. Biscuits. And Maybe a blues band. The tv was set on the music choice channel for blues music with the volume turned up. There was a bar, but no trained bartender. Just a couple servers who had to google the drink recipes when someone ordered. The nachos we ordered were tasty, but made completely from canned, and processed foods you could buy yourself at Walmart. I'm pretty sure the salsa was Pace. We visited on October 15 while in town for the Balloon Festival. Food was mediocre at best. No Blues music-just loud crowd noise. The waitress KEPT referring to my husband as "baby" all night. Once or twice is OK for a tip ...after that it was just disrespectful. Her tip reflected that fact too. Come on management - train your staff better than that!! I also like how good the food taste but one thing I don't like is they had a staff shortage and they were not working their hardest. We got in pretty late, close to 9, seated right away and the waiter immediately took our drink orders and brought out complimentary biscuits with apricot butter. I'm a vegetarian so wasn't expecting much from the menu but I ordered the veggie Poboy which turned out to have thick, delicious breaded eggplant slices on it. My husband ordered the eggplant Napoleon which came with shrimp and fried oysters. We were both wild about the sauce in his dish, which was a blend of a garlic cream sauce and tomato coulis. Split a pecan pie slice a la mode for dessert and it was warm and not overly sweet; perfect. 4 gin and tonics plus all that food and the total was $68. A steal for the quality and quantity.
