We stopped in here for dessert, but the I kinda wish we had come here for dinner as the place we went was a little underwhelming. The service was awesome, the place is super cute, and the food looked good! The server offered us a biscuit to start with, but we declined, since I was just ordering the Natchez beignet. I should have taken it though, because biscuits. But I guess I assumed the beignet would be beignets, with powdered sugar like in NOLA. No, this was one beignet with ice cream and some kind of sauce that was derived from angel tears with pecans on top. Holy cats, it wasn't what I was expecting but man it was delicious!! The server misunderstood us and bought two, when we just wanted one, and very graciously didn't charge us for the second; of course we gave him a good tip, as he was super polite, and really great. Overall 3.25 Stars A long weekend conference can make you very hungry and we stopped by here for a lunch break. In truth, we were heading to another place for lunch and we saw this place and we figure we stop here; especially when it was 95 outside. A good old' sweet tea was callin' our name. Ambiance - 4 Stars - when you walk in, you are greeted with a huge bar with many seats, a huge selection of bottled liquor, quaint tables and bench seating. Ambiance: Your body becomes relaxed and stress free due to old brick, warm wood, and classic but whimsical pictures frames. Instantly a sweet tea is what your body is craving for or a lovely old fashion, if you prefer an "adult" drink. I believe in the evening, live blues music serenade you as patiently eat your entree. Due to our short time in Natchez, we were not able to stay and listen to the blue music. Service: 3 Stars Our server was young and enthusiastic but was nervous. We believe he began his training with us. Very attentive however, he sometimes forget to bring certain items to our table. With a friendly smile, I reminded him on the items that we requested. My friend and I remembered our time in the food industry and was nice to assist the new generation. We were once "a green horn" ourselves. The restaurant features Cajun New Orleans style food. Food: 3.25 - 3.75 Stars We ordered two lunch dishes and one dessert. Blues Burger - 3.5 Stars: Smoke shredded rib and chicken meat, sweet BBQ sauce, red onions, and crawfish queso served on a large biscuit bun. So, the biscuit burger was good however due to the characteristic nature of a baked "biscuit bun", the bun broke apart because of the BBQ sauce and crawfish queso. Definitely need a fork with this burger. Also, there is a lot going on with the flavor profile too. Sweet, savory, creamy and slightly salty. It was good but it needs a hint of citric acid, hot sauce or vinegar to hit the spicy / tangy profile. Jonnie Mae Burger: 3.75 Stars - it is an 8 oz hand Pattie beef topped with a generous portion of fried onion rings, a few fried pickles, fresh tomato and lettuce with a layer of honey sweet mustard on a brooch bun. I asked for medium rare however the beef was cooked to medium well. The burger was tender and juicy. Though topped with fried onions and pickles, you can taste the beef which made the burger more enjoyable. Sometimes, when a burger has a lot of toppings, the ingredients overpower the beefy taste. This is not the case with this one. The toppings complimented the beef. Definitely recommend this dish! Both entrees were served with Cajun fries which were good and crispy. For dessert, we ordered one serving of beignets (3.25 stars) with our coffee. They were three beignets generously sprinkled with powered sugar. They were hot and fresh however they were slightly small. Also the beignets were more square instead of round. It was flaky, but was slightly doughy. They were enjoyable with the coffee. It was even better by dipping the Beignets into the coffee. The chicory flavor of the coffee gave a slight bitterness to the beignets. Overall, we enjoyed our lunch and the chill atmosphere of Biscuits and Blues. Looking forward and trying their other dishes. Especially when they have live music during evening time. Possibly will order a good old-fashioned drink too. We both recommend a place. read more

Went in with a larger party (14 people). Service was slow. They were friendly but our server seemed to struggle a bit. We asked about allergies & whether specific food was safe. He was very confused & had to ask a few times. We ordered the oyster spinach salad. I enjoyed the salad. The batter on the oysters & the fried shrimp my friend ordered was tasty but very salty. Came in for dinner as two members of our party had lunched there before. Unfortunately our wait staff appeared disoriented and under the influence and was rude, telling the party to order something simple to make. His conversation was laced with profanity and we had children with us. Completely unwarranted. We paid for our drinks and left rather than be subjected to his barrage. Neighboring tables experienced the same attitude and another couple walked out with us. Complete shame as we understood that the food was excellent. The two members of our party that were repeaters acknowledged a similar though less traumatic experience with the same waiter on their prior visit, sharing that it was earlier in the day and he wasn't as belligerent but odd and off putting. We settled for lunch and I ordered the BBQ plate of ribs and grilled chicken quarter. The chicken was tasty and had a good smoked flavor but the ribs were charred, dry and burned. Have we chosen a bad time to visit Natchez? This was the second place today that has great reviews on Yelp but we found to be disappointing. Everyone raves about the biscuits but we found them to be little hockey pucks. The apricot butter was really good! It feels like a pub with Sanford and Son on a TV at the bar. We love the wall of old doors and the original beadboard ceilings. We arrived at 7pm. Not many people there at all. We were greeted by a nice young man. Our server was a pleasant woman. Our aunt got the oyster and spinach salad. She said the oysters needed more seasoning but she was pleased overall. Our uncle wasn't super hungry so he went straight for dessert. You could have used that bread pudding for a hockey puck (I see a theme here). It was hard and dry. Either overcooked or not enough custard was poured over the bread. Or both. It was not good at all. Mike had the ribs and Great Value crinkle cut fries. He said not the worst ribs but definitely not the best. I had the Chicken Acadian. This came with a salad which was good, albeit the anemic tomato and hamburger dill slices. The lettuce was crisp and the homemade ranch was delicious. The chicken Acadian was a huge disappointment. A thin chicken breast cooked to oblivion covered in a mushroom and crawfish cream that tasted strongly of muddy crawfish. Ugh. Love the atmosphere but the meal was a lazy miss. The bloody Mary tasted like tomato juice and pepper, nothing special. I got the crawfish and mushroom beignets, the beignet was hard as though it was old. The sauce was okay nothing wow. I'm from Louisiana and expected so much more. They brought out these biscuits with butter that I think must be addictive. It had orange peel in it and was just so good. This was a decent meal during COVID, when options in town were really limited. There was no live music, which is understandable during a pandemic. But there was no blues music playing, either - just some sorta bluesy classic rock standards. Staff were inconsistent with mask use; they were often half or completely off. Food was pretty decent. At first glance the biscuits were small but it was the perfect little something to welcome us in and did I mention they were warm and delicious?!!! I went hoping for beer. Biscuits. And Maybe a blues band. The tv was set on the music choice channel for blues music with the volume turned up. There was a bar, but no trained bartender. Just a couple servers who had to google the drink recipes when someone ordered. We visited on October 15 while in town for the Balloon Festival. Food was mediocre at best. No Blues music-just loud crowd noise. The waitress KEPT referring to my husband as "baby" all night. Once or twice is OK for a tip ...after that it was just disrespectful. Her tip reflected that fact too. Come on management - train your staff better than that!! I also like how good the food taste but one thing I don't like is they had a staff shortage and they were not working their hardest. We got in pretty late, close to 9, seated right away and the waiter immediately took our drink orders and brought out complimentary biscuits with apricot butter. I'm a vegetarian so wasn't expecting much from the menu but I ordered the veggie Poboy which turned out to have thick, delicious breaded eggplant slices on it. My husband ordered the eggplant Napoleon which came with shrimp and fried oysters. We were both wild about the sauce in his dish, which was a blend of a garlic cream sauce and tomato coulis. Split a pecan pie slice a la mode for dessert and it was warm and not overly sweet; perfect. 4 gin and tonics plus all that food and the total was $68. A steal for the quality and quantity.
