I was passing through the area on a trip, and had stopped for the night in Natchez. The folks at my hotel were not very helpful in suggesting a place to eat that wasn't the Popeye's next door, and when I am traveling I don't go to chains if I can help it... I like to get flavors from locally owned places! Fortunately when scanning through Yelp I found Planet Thailand, situated in downtown Natchez. I easily found my way there, and parking was available for me right outside, so no issues there. However, walking in the door, it turned out the place was kind of slammed! Multiple big parties were seated, and the two servers were definitely in the weeds. I was still seated in relatively short order, and sat perusing the menu for a while before my order was taken. I didn't have any problem with this, as I didn't have anything else to do for the evening except go back to my hotel room. I ordered the tom yum soup and the red curry. I tried to order the summer rolls as well, but they were off the menu for the evening due to how busy things were. I understood that... they are time consuming to make and things were a bit insane at the time. The tom yum soup is an interesting dish, and very regional it seems. I don't think I have ever been to two different restaurants where it is made the same. In this case, they had chopped up baby corn in the soup, which is something I have never experienced before. It wasn't bad... just different. The red curry was pretty standard fare. No one ever believes me when I ask for it thai hot, and I always seem to have to add more chili to it to bring it up to my standards... this was no different, much to the horror of my server. The only complaint I had was that one of the servers (not mine, thankfully) had a voice that was a bit on the loud side, and his method of dealing with patrons was, shall we say, uncouth. It was not the kind of service experience I would ever want in a restaurant like this... perhaps it would work in a diner that has a reputation for loud and abrasive service as a theme, but not in a Thai restaurant. The food was good, the service I received was good, I would say just be on the lookout for loud-mouthed wait staff and request someone else if he is handling you. read more

Good in a pinch, it was a rainy day and I was craving Thai in town from Houston. I needed some soup to warm my bones. It was good the ginger and the tummy. Yum was on point but the ingredients of the bulk was far from when I'm used to. it is well decorated, definitely some conversations starters. Planet Thailand is a great Asian choice in downtown Natchez! As their name would suggest, they have Thai food. Being from Baton Rouge, where we have a lot of good Thai choices, I can say their Thai menu is very nice. They have a good selection and the dishes are very fresh and tasty. My favorites are always the noodle dishes, and these are great at Planet Thailand. But the choices don't end there. There are also a number of Vietnamese options, including fresh Spring Rolls and Summer Rolls. These make a great appetizer choice. Other Asian options include fried rices, and soups. However, it seems that a lot of people come to Planet Thailand for the sushi. They have some beautiful rolls! The presentation on some of these is really nice, they seem to really go to extra effort to make them look spectacular. The service is prompt and friendly, and the decor is refreshing and eclectic. Planet Thailand offers a deliciously different option in Natchez, and is worth visiting while you are downtown. read more

Excellent! Started off with Spring Rolls and Goyza. Both were delicious! Next was Chicken Pad Thai for me and Pineapple fried rice for Honey. Delicious! Service was a little slow to start but our server, Macy, had 6 tables to herself and to go orders (which there were a lot of!) She made sure we were well taken care of though through our entire meal. What a treasure! Both of our meals were superb. I had an order of spring rolls. The rolls were light and crispy. My husband had the Tom yum soup and he said it was excellent. We both had the Thai iced tea, which was very refreshing, especially with the spice level of my entree. I had the Drunken Noodles with chicken, prepared at a 3 spice level. The dish had more vegetables than I've experienced at other restaurants; however, I enjoyed the veggies and it made for a lighter dish. My husband had the red curry with chicken. The food wasn't bad, but the service was awful. I was on a 6 hour drive for work and passing through town. My significant other and I decided to stop in Natchez as we did the week before and had eaten at a quant restaurant with good food and service. But here we waited 1 1/2 hours for food. It's a small restaurant and only 2 servers, and doesn't appear to have any other staff up front. After some time we placed our orders. But our server diverted most of his attention to a table of 6, and it seemed he was trying very hard to get a good tip from them and could care less about our table of 2. We waited about 30 minutes and another man comes in and sits near us, and he received his food and paid before we received ours. 1 1/2 hours later we are pretty irritated. We have never been checked on.. We were never offered compensation for food or drinks. I'm pretty sure our server forgot to place our order. He never owned up or sincerely apologized. We actually went ahead and paid before our food came, but still waited another 30 minutes. We should have left at this point. Finally my soup and salad came out, and following this my partners curry came out close to 2 hours of being there. Just poor customer service, and money hungry servers. Natchez is a cute town, but this restaurant is an embarrassment. So don't waste your time. Literally because it will be wasted here. read more

So good! The food was extremely flavorful. We went here for lunch and enjoyed a salad and the chicken Pad Thai. There was not an overwhelming peanut flavor. Instead it enhanced the ginger and other ingredients. The ambience is very peaceful. The windows in the front provide a great amount of natural light. The fish circling the fountain/pond in the front is a lovely welcome before I am even handed my menu. The owner is also welcoming and so nice. Just a great experience all around! read more

I have eaten Thai food all over the US. I lived in CA for several years and has some of the best. I wouldn't trust most of the reviews listed here because Thai food is almost unheard of in Mississippi. My wife got Vietnamese pho, I got spicy basil noodles with shrimp. Both dishes were extremely authentic! Excellent flavor and ingredients. Very nice atmosphere. The restaurant itself is located in an old historic building. I'm originally from the south, but I travel quite a bit for work. So, I've had quite a bit of sushi. That being said, I was still excited about trying Planet Thailand. (You never know when or where you might find your next great hole-in-the-wall place.) I went today around ten 'til 5 pm. The inside of the restaurant was nicer than I expected, and I was seated by a very charming hostess. So far, so good! She informed me that "Mrs. Ann" would be there soon. I wasn't sure who Mrs. Ann was, but I assumed that she made the sushi. Dinner was served from 5 to closing, so we wouldn't have long to wait, or so I thought... By 5:10, there is still no Mrs. Ann, so the hostess asks if she can get us something else. We order miso soup and edamame to pass the time. Around 5:15 pm, a woman short in stature and possibly of oriental descent is spotted behind the bar. I assume this is Mrs. Ann. A few minutes later, the first roll arrives. It's supposed to be a futomaki roll, but I honestly couldn't tell it apart from a plain avocado roll, at least not by taste. A California roll has also arrived, minus the masago that had been requested on top. It tasted okay. The next rolls to arrive were a Philly roll and a Caterpillar roll. The Caterpillar roll was excellent; one of the best I've ever had! However, the smoked salmon in the Philly roll was a little warmer than expected and had a fishy taste. Nevertheless, it was decent. I had two pieces of it before I noticed a long black hair on top. No one at my table had black hair, nor did the hostess, so I must suspect the hair came courtesy of Mrs. Ann. I motioned the hostess over and told her that I didn't want to finish the roll, nor did I request a replacement roll. She apologized, and took the plate. The next roll to arrive was a Volcano roll. I am used to volcano rolls being creamy and spicy. Yet, this roll was covered in so much panko and dry seasoning that it was sticky and dry. It definitely wasn't what I was expecting. The hostess apologized again for the hair in the food and took the Philly roll, as well as the edamame and miso that we had while we waited, off of the ticket. However, I still have to give the restaurant a low rating simply for the chef's tardiness and the long hair nestled in on top of the sushi roll read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE their sushi but the service has declined in the last few months. I frequent here often. When I ordered online today at 12:50, I got an email & text saying it would be ready by 1:21. I arrived at 1:25 and my food was not ready until 1:38. This has happened multiple times, but I love this restaurant so much I continue to go back. I just wish the service was a little faster or time appropriate. Stopped in for dinner with some friends on my way to Baton Rouge. Fantastic Thai food! Hard to find in a small town. I had the red chicken curry and it was seasoned perfectly and a large portion. Service was a little slow, but we weren't in a hurry. Extensive drink menu. I had a lemon drop martini which I don't recommend. Probably should've asked for a better vodka selection, but it gave me a headache. My fault more than theirs. My friends that live in Natchez visit here weekly and say the food is consistently good. We also had some gyoza dumplings and edamame for appetizers. Both good. Comfortable dining room area and great selection of ethnic dishes. Will definitely be back next time I'm in town. read more

Planet Thailand has been my go to restaurant in Natchez for just about as long as I've been able to drive. Their sushi is, as far as I know, the best in Natchez. I'd recommend a roll, but every one that I've had has been awesome. I've likewise never been disappointed in a dish. Years ago I had the best General Tso's chicken I've ever had the pleasure of eating here, and I'm sad to see that it's no longer on the menu. The only reason that this isn't a glowing five star review is that the service can be a little lackluster. Make sure you sip your drink slowly to ensure that you don't run out. read more

My wife got their house soup (wanted Pho but they weren't serving it that day) and it taste like Campbell's vegetable soup...not good. The chai tea was good. I read previous reviews and they were pretty accurate. The food was good but the service left something to be desired. My date and I were there almost an hour before we finished our appetizer and waited an additional 20 minutes for the rest of our meal. We ordered the Vietnamese Rolls and the Shrimp Tempura appetizers. The rolls were full of lettuce and very little shrimp. 10 minutes after receiving the rolls the waitress brought us a shrimp tempura roll....not what we ordered. Another 10-15 minutes later she returned with the appetizer we ordered. My date ordered the Natchez Roll and the Trinity Roll. She reports they were okay but not the best she's ever had.
