Duck Wong delicious Chinese restaurant. Welcoming staff. I went during lunch time and it was pack. I order my favorite chicken and broccoli with white rice. Within 10 minutes my meal was ready. Delicious and fresh.
I've been coming here for over 10 years, and the food has been consistently amazing. The chef is constantly adding new things to the menu. My go to is always the wonton noodle soup with braised beef stew. But you have to have it with his house made chili oil one of the best I've tasted. They have it charged so you can even buy one to take home. I always do one thing I can say for sure is you will not be disappointed with anything you order from the menu.
RATING: 3.5/5 - Duck Wong is fine + good as a local neighborhood spot. Their menu is EXTENSIVE and they constantly build on it - literally any kind of Chinese dish you want, they have a variation of it here! You can pretty much build your own Noodle Soup or Rice as well. Everything on the menu is decent. Their appetizers are really tasty and unique - we ordered some kind of Takoyaki-base pancake, which was really good, and I really like their Fried Chicken Wings app. Their Noodle Soup portions are quite generous. Honestly, you can't really go wrong with what you get here. The service is quick and they don't charge a credit card fee. Our food came pretty fast overall as well, which was nice! Reliable neighborhood spot, but doesn't compare to some other places I prefer.
After a year and numerous dining experiences at Duck Wong, officially updating my review to 5 stars! Duck Wong has become a staple in our Sunday lunch rotation. All noodle soups, rice dishes, specials, and appetizers are well priced with hefty portions - you really can't beat the prices in this area. I've tried quite a few things, but the wonton noodle soup remains my favorite. Wontons are gigantic, well seasoned, and delicious. Paired with their signature chili oil, and it's the ultimate comfort food. The wonton mein is always perfectly cooked, so the noodles retain that al dente springy, chewy texture. And it goes without saying, but their master broth across the noodle dishes is so simplistic but so good. I also really enjoy their spicy oil cuttlefish udon, yaki udon, and beef brisket noodles. All of the appetizers here that we've tried were tasty. Hot & sour soup here isn't like the typical takeout hot & sour soup, but it is well balanced and not goopy. Dumplings & wonton apps are both good (as expected), the cucumber side is refreshing (but beware of garlic breath), kakiage is super crispy and one of my faves, and the bitter melon is refreshing. Service is super efficient and friendly. Cash & card are both accepted. Overall, a no frills spot serving up some delicious noodle soups and quick eats.
Been here many times, finally got a chance to write a review. The place is small, but their food is always good. From Wonton noodles to rice dishes, everything is very tasty. The only issue I have is on their curry dishes. Everytime we asked for extra sauce, never give extra sauce. Overall their food is delicious. I love their hot chill oil.
Tired their curry brisket set meal & it was pretty good. The set meal was abundant - it had the curry brisket w/ rice, a small soup & 2 pork chive dumplings. The brisket was tender & the curry was not that spicy. There was also cabbage in the meal for some added fiber. I enjoyed my meal & was very stuffed. Staff was attentive & food came out fast. Tons of seating inside.
Come here for the wonton noodles and prices have doubled in the last 3 years. There's cheaper spots in the area but my friend likes their pork liver watercress congee (which came out lukewarm) usually won't leave a review but decided to splurge and try out some of the assorted braised beef innards . Only ate one of each to try and got the rest to go because I over ordered. Waitress asked if I wanted her to pack or if I should (I had asked for a box to takeout & I said she can pack) I was then asked if I wanted the vegetables in the dish (made up 60-70% of the dish) and I said yes, I love vegetables. Went to the restroom and saw the leftover plate had over half the vegetables still on it so I checked the takeout box (only 75% full) considering how I requested the dish to be packed for takeout I want the whole order, not half. I attached the takeout picture and you can see there's only vegetables covering half of the bottom. Even if it didn't fit in one container I believe she should've portioned it into 2, but there is obviously enough room. The dish was $22 and cost the price of 2 regular dishes but the portion amount was very disappointing and don't think I'll be back.
Great place for lunch, big portions and affordable. This place did not disappoint. I had their wonton noodle soup, the salt and pepper pork chop and their walnut shrimp dish. The wonton soup was not bad, but the broth needs some improvement. The walnut shrimp was good, perfect to share, but the salt and pepper pork chops were better. Perfectly cooked and highly recommend getting that with a bowl of rice. Will definitely come back!
The food here is good for the price, especially the set meals! The hot and sour soup that is complimentary to the meal is filled with lots of ingredients and is the perfect balance of hot and sour. The pickled radish/carrots and dumplings that came with the meal were also really good. For the main entree, I ordered the sweet and sour pork which came sooo fresh and still crispy when I first ate it. It comes with pieces of pineapple, which is how it's made in Hong Kong. The other dishes ordered at my table were all decent, but I wouldn't recommend the curry noodle soup. The soup is really watered down and the 'noodles' was more like spaghetti. Overall, the food is decent for the price, especially the set meals! I'll be back :)
This is one of my go to places on 86th! I always get the fish filet and I definitely recommend trying that! I think its made better than regular Chinese restaurants! Their wonton noodle soup and curry chicken over rice is also delicious! The staff at this place are very friendly. Since the place is pretty small, they are quick to attend to your needs. I usually come by for lunch or early dinner and have never waited to be seated.
Food is okay, the spicy chili oil is amazing! However, they should have a huge disclaimer or something to let customers who eat in know that it is MANDATORY to tip at least 18%+. They will chase you out if you give anything less than that. The servers only take your order and bring it, no recommendations made by them, very minimal interaction, no coming by to give you extra napkins. The service is so subpar that it is not worth it to pay about 20% of what you eat. This restaurant needs to keep in mind TIPS ARE OPTIONAL. They need to work on their service and that's why I believe they deserve a 2 star. The experience is ruined by them being so persistent about the tip that it makes you not wanna come back here again! I would recommend just ordering for takeout if you are interested in eating here!

Good Cantonese-style food, but nothing extraordinary. We dropped in on a Friday evening at around 7pm and the restaurant was very quiet. Based on the customers coming in, I figured more customers ordered To Go than actually sitting in. The menu wasn't huge, but it had a good number of items consisting of various noodles (with and without broth), rice dishes, congee, tapas and side dishes at predominantly reasonable prices, although some of the noodle prices did surprise me at $9+. For 2 people, we ordered enough food for 5 customers and they were probably glad we did since foot traffic was slow. We ordered a Braised Beef Brisket Noodle Soup, Congee, Drunken Chicken, Master Brine Duck ... and for good measure a Wonton Noodle Soup. Can't say anything really stood out, but everything was solid. The Drunken Chicken was definitely our fave, mostly because we rarely see it served at restaurants and they made it perfectly. The Braised Beef Brisket Noodle Soup, Congee and Wonton Noodle Soup were just OK. They weren't bad, but they were average. The Master Brine Duck was my least favorite dish as the flavor wasn't my cup of tea. On top of it, duck is never on top of my list because it's typically too fatty, which this dish was. Our waiter was friendly, so no complaints there. The restaurant was pretty inconspicuous and, like I said, quiet, however it was better than I actually thought it would be. It's a nice spot to come in for a quick, quiet and satisfying meal, but don't look to be wow'd. read more

I like this place a lot! Their food is good and relatively cheap. Their chili oil wonton is so amazing!!! And so is their veggie "hotpot". Their environment is nice and not too loud either. This is my comfort food place . I know I will return for more!! read more

Just for a casual family dinner I think this place is great! There will be something for everyone since the menu is so extensive from wontons and fried appetizers to their speciality duck and noodle soup. Their wonton noodle has a very clear broth and the wontons are packed full and so umami. Definitely try the duck and have it with the sour vinegar sauce. The only reason I didn't give a 5 is because their menu is so big some items lacked in flavor and quality like the zha jiang mian read more

We've been going to Duck Wong for authentic noodle soup for years now. Service is always great. Staffs are friendly and courteous. Food is tasty and price is reasonable. My kid loves their fish balls noodle. Soft shell crabs are my husband's favorite. For me, every dishes that I've tasted are great. They offer pick up and delivery service while NY on Pause. Decided to order for late dinner. Also got pho, the soup was good and had a lot of flavor. Wasn't heavy on msg but all the flavors came through. The wonton didn't have much flavor, was really oily on the bottom. The wontons are pretty big tho but the outside tasted like straight oil with no seasoning. The duck was really salty, when I had brine duck from other places, I don't remember it being this salty. Food was all cold when it was delivered but that might just be because I got delivery. read more

Reasonable price ranges, comfortable atmosphere, great location, okay service, food overall is very good and authentic. Went there on a Saturday afternoon, the food was great, but the main dish came out first instead of appetizers. Let them know you want to have appetizers first if food orders matter. read more

Good restaurant of Chinese (actually Cantonese style) food. Very affordable with tasty food and clean environment! I with my mom ordered the Drunken Chicken , the Five Spice Beef Tripe and a plate of green vegetables. Also added two bowls of rice. The portion is a little more for two people. Drunken Chicken: the meat is very tender and the skin is smooth and thin. Not oily at all. Five Spice Beef Tripe: delicious with the sauce. Vegetables: good and tender. Overall: cheap and tasty. read more

A bit embarrassing to say I've lived in this neighborhood for how many years and never thought to try this little gem of a place! On the outside, to be honest, yes, it doesn't stand out much because like the other dozen of little Asian owned restaurants in Bensonhurst/Bath Beach, it looks atypical in the sense there are so many choices for eating Asian cuisine here that it's almost oversaturated and the actual good places to eat get overlooked. But I'm very glad my family and I stopped by looking for dinner after another place we originally wanted to dine in at was closed. I loved that the inside seating was spacious and didn't feel stuffy. Some places try to utilize the space by having a lot of tables to accommodate more guests and all it does is make everything feel cramped. It was nice and quiet too; people were talking but it was at a respectable volume. The waitress was super friendly. I'm sorry I forgot to ask for her name so I could mention her by name here but I thought she was great! I had the pork shrimp wonton soup, fried rice pork chop, and kakiage (duck wong pancake). The wontons were SO good. They were huge and with each bite, I got a taste of both pork and shrimp. The arrangement of the fried rice pork chop came in a stainless steel pan and was quite adorable. The pork chop had dabs of curry on it but I got a surprise when I got to the bottom of the rice which had curry hidden under it. I thought that was a nice touch so not everything was slathered in curry all at once and I had the option to mix it up with my fork. Lastly was the kakiage. You might notice that the name is distinctly Japanese and that's because kakiage is another word for Japanese tempura, a type of seafood dish that involves deep frying shrimp bits into a clumped pancake. The name given in written Chinese on the menu translates as "Duck Wong Pancake". I admit I was a bit scared to eat kakiage at first because it looked intimidating and I originally didn't know what was in it but it was delicious!! The only downside of this lovely place is the lack of vegetable-only dishes or dishes where the food was accompanied by vegetables. I'm a believer in having balanced meals where I eat a little bit of everything. Spicy, salty and fried foods are great as meal options for customers but they shouldn't be the only options. read more

I'm not usually a fan of their food but I wanted a wonton noodle nearby. I have friends who like coming here. My stomach always reacts whenever I eat here. But today when I went to pay, my total was 7.65. The women in the front refused to take my 5 pennies as I had exact change. She said she doesn't take pennies. Like whaaat??? That's allowed?!?? So she rather give me change than to take my penny. That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Now I have another reason not to come back. Also there was NO SIGN any where saying they don't accept Pennies. When I asked her why. She said she doesn't wanna take Pennies...... read more
I'm a huge fan of comfort foods of Hong Kong and this was a great place to feed that craving. Duck Wong is a nice, easy and cheap place to grab a warm bite. I ordered the wonton soup, curry fishballs and a mala spicy beef bowl. My favorite was probably the wonton soup - the wontons were large and filled with a good amount of pork and shrimp. The mala spicy bowl was pretty fantastic as well and the portions were huge. I had plenty to take home for a quick snack. The curry fishballs were likely my least favorite - they were mostly bland and probably could've used more curry flavoring. I think the service was somewhat lacking but for the type of food and the cheap prices, it's worth of a shot. read more

Was visiting Coney Island and wanted some Asian food in the area. I ordered their signature Wonton noodle soup and it tasted just the way I remembered back when I was in Hong Kong. Their wontons were handmade and they're super huge, definitely didn't skimp out on the shrimp & pork fillings. Also a salt pepper wings on the side and it was surprisingly savory and juicy! I ended up finishing the entire plate of wings by myself. Reminds me so much of Hong Kong and all the staff there are Cantonese. I'll have to say this place is very authentic with their Cantonese cuisine. The bill came out super cheap and my belly was very satisfied. Will definitely come back again! read more

A DELICIOUS HAPPY PLACE I pretty much stumbled in there, not knowing what to expect. I usually walk into places and try to feel the vibe. This Place? Good vibes! We had the nicest hostess who showed us to our table. You can feel a positive energy in this place along with the amazing smell of various dishes on everyone's table! Oh my goodness, I didn't know what to order! They had a menu and pictures of dishes all over the walls, which made everything a little easier. I just pointed and picked a bunch of things with the help of the friendliest waitresses of course! Shrimp and walnuts, salt and pepper squid, Brined Duck, cold seasoned cucumbers, fried pork, boom, boom, boom! These little plates were coming fast and hot... It was impressive! The brined duck was tasty as hell, and the seasoned cucumber was extremely delicious... I couldn't stop eating them! I cannot say one dish was better than the other, everything was extremely good. Along with the ambiance, happy atmosphere and, once again, "The Nicest Waitresses on the Planet", Duck Wong has become one of my favorite places to go! read more

If you want a quick filling, tasty and cheap fix, this is a place for you! Enjoyed by many locals, the wontons are famous, extremely flavorful and packed with juicy shrimp and wood ear fungus. I keep coming back here and quality is still up to par every time. Also, the flow of people is constant so there's not long of a wait. read more

86th has definitely changed from my childhood days. The large amount of eateries up and down this area has grown. The prices are a little steeper than what you would find @ Big Wong if you were to get a combo of Wonton/ Beef Tripe or whatever additional topping ($3more) and the duck is nowhere close to Bo Ky in Chinatown, but edible. The broth is tastier and clearer.. Not a fan of their Congee though. We got that to go, and it looks like baby rice. Tasty, but not congee like to our liking. Service is nice and I like how they don't rush you. They have a decent size menu with alot of other dishes we would try. So definitely coming back. read more

I forgot I had this bookmarked when I first moved to Brooklyn. Really wish I tried this restaurant pre-covid looks like the prices have gone up quite a bit based on other reviews. I ordered 3 dishes: Fried wonton: Standard wontons probably won't order this again price doesn't seem worth it for the amount you get. Salt and Pepper ribs: Lost the crunch by the time it got delivered but my air fryer revived it. This is my go to dish every time I eat chinese food and based on other restaurants I tried in the area this is probably the best one... East Harbor is actually the best too bad their closed... but I would say this comes a close second. Portion size felt a bit small for the price. Curry Chicken fried rice: I thought it came with more curry would've been nice if they added more sauce because this dish was really tasty. I'm a fan of coconut curry and this dish delicious. Did feel that the dish was 70% rice 30% chicken. Overall the food was flavorful, but definitely pricier for the amount you get. But worth a try! read more
This place is your no frills but good delicious cheap eats, located in Bensonhurst. I came here with my husband the first time and some of the food items were definitely a little too exotic for him which is a shame because I wanted to try so many things! I ended up coming back with my sister and our kids and finally ordered a bunch of stuff to share. We ordered the brisket over noodles, the chili beef tripe (THIS IS A MUST!), braised pork skin rind with daikon, chicken wings and pan fried dumplings. Everything tasted amazing, seasoned perfectly without being overwhelming in salt, which can happen with Chinese food. The chili beef tripe was my FAV! This is served a little cold, it's not meant to be hot and words just can't describe how amazing this dish is. You just have to try it for yourself. The chili oil adds flavor but not a lot of heat which is perfect for me. The Braised pork skin was flavorful and cooked perfectly where it was not too soft (mushy) or too hard. That's important because if too soft or hard, it literally alters the taste feel in your mouth. The chicken wings and dumplings were good, simple solid food staple. I don't think it was anything overly special but the kids love it so a plus. So overall, I think the food was super tasty and I will be coming back for more. Tip: come with friends who like to explore the Chinese cuisine so you can order more to share! read more
I love this place!!! As I said before - vast small plate options here - wontons, noodles, extra of finger food. We've been trying out new menu items and I found a new love...! Asians: you know what I'm talking about! Non-Asians: keep an open mind! 1) Braised Pork Rind w/ homemade fishball & white radish -epic -amazing -savory -tender -"I finished the whole fracking casserole" good -$10 -totally worth it -it doesn't come w/ noodles or rice, so order a bowl of rice! -Pork Rind - "the pink skin".... it's good for your skin! Now you know why Asians never look their age... LOL ;) 2) Beef tripes w/ chili oil salad (cold dish!) -this is also a really good dish -crunchy & mildly spicy -great opener! I'm returning very soon! Let's eat! read more

Been coming here for awhile for their noodle soup. I always get their wonton noodle soup. Some days I get their small bowls and other days I get adventurous and get the big bowl. Either way very yummy. Last night - I got the big bowl of wonton noodle soup and the bf got a curry beef stew set. It comes with house soup, 2 dumplings, some pickled radish and carrots. Overall was pretty good. Get their hot oil, so yummy with the wontons. Also got the salt & pepper calamari. That was okay. The breading is a bit thick but the taste is good. A good place to come especially in the cold! read more
