Buy a case for the cost of a few bottles at other Yamhill county wineries without missing a drop of quality. A must stop for tasting wine down 99W. Worth note. We stopped by here Thursday Sept. 4th. with the hounds in tow, since their outdoor seating is dog friendly. As usual, the service was quick, the staff were knowledgeable and friendly, and the wines were inexpensive and very tasty The grounds around the outdoor seating area are nicely landscaped (in the early summer the wisteria among the arbors are gorgeous). It's a nice winery to pop in and have a glass of wine on the patio, or try a flight and see what you like. They have a great selection, your bound to find a varietal you like! read more

My friend and I recently went to a pick up party for the wine club and stayed for the $50 a plate sit-down dinner. Duck Pond should not have attempted to do both events in one day as it was a complete bust. The food at the pick up party was marginal, some sliced salami, two different cheeses with flies feasting on them, an empty bowl of bread and a small bowl of olives. There were only two people pouring wine so the line for the red wine was a block long, and no line for the white but the woman serving white would not help out, weird. No one was smiling! I never did get wine at the pick up party. When dinner rolled around, we were served plain lettuce as a salad, not even a tomato, (this is tomato season), Pork loin which was delicious but the meat was served 20 min before the vegetables came, who does that? I filled up on meat because it appeared that was going to be it. The vegi's were beautiful but arrived far too late to enjoy with the main course.... So, we paid $50 for pork loin, lettuce and two glasses of wine... I think that would run about $34 at a 5 star restaurant with excellent service, I might add. The staff was grouchy and gave horrible service by the time dinner rolled around. They were serving our meal from cardboard boxes and half the guests were sitting in the direct sun with no shade so they carried their own dinners across the lawn to the deck in the shade. The worst part.... they did't serve wine with dinner. I've never been to a winery dinner that didn't pair wine with the meal.... We were given tokens for two glasses of wine which were served well before dinner was served, no wine glasses at the dinner table and if we wanted wine we had to walk back to the winery and buy a bottle then drink out of a dirty glass. So tacky.... I belong to two other wine clubs in the area and I have to admit I was quite disappointed with Duck Pond, (although I do really enjoy a couple of their wines, the Syrah in particular). I'll continue with the club as I do like their wine and the price is right but no more dinners and I know now what to expect when I pick up my wine so I won't be disappointed next time. read more

I have to give a shout out to Tamara C. After talking to her we decided to give DP a chance. Not that their wines are bad, but I have had them before and I can buy them at any grocery store, however the experience was really fun. Indeed they have a complimentary tasting and if you want to do the reserved ones it is only an additional $5 to include those. The employees are super friendly, which makes any visit so much more enjoyable. The cute store was full of wine gadgets, of course I had to get one. I got a quail pourer. A little steep at $24, but we have quails hanging in our back yard all the time. They also have some jams, mustards and chocolate dips. The patio in front is very nice, and they seem to have events every so often. We were a day late for some pizza/flatbread event. On a sunny day, hanging out here could be fun and cheap. I ended up buying a bottle, just because they were so nice. I am sure I could have gotten it at Safeway at the same or cheaper, but the experience was fun. read more

After reading reviews I opted not to go to Duck Pond Cellars on our recent tour of the Willamette Valley; however when we were stuck in traffic off the 99W, Duck Pond was there, so we thought we'd stop in to 'wait out the traffic'. The wine consultant seemed a bit disinterested in serving us; but we kept an 'open mind'. Their wines were not terrible but the price point lead me to believe this is a wine for those who prefer light, watery wines, not the bold red as we generally prefer. After tasting at 23 wineries, Duck Pond was my least favorite wine. But it's a good 'entry level' wine. read more

I took a group of Linfield Mothers and Daughters on a wine tasting tour last weekend. The tasting room manager was very helpful in putting together a tour and tasting schedule with short notice. The wines were excellent and the tour very informing. All for $5 each and got to keep the glasses! I would recommend this venue to anyone wanting a special event. Each of the 13 people that came with us had nothing but rave comments on the way home. We stopped at other wineries and received less for much more money. read more

This is a great winery! I started at this winery and tried their second flight. The hostess was very welcoming an kind. Great atmosphere and affordable wine. One of my favorite wines from this place is the Malbec. It's not sweet, earthy, velvety and you can really taste the French and American oak. This was mellow flavored and a great red if you are more of a white wine drinker like I am. Duck pond also had other delicious flavorful wines. The service was also great! Hopping place right off the main drag. Nice wines and very friendly staff. Nice gift shop. My favorite wine I couldn't buy because I was not a club member, but the nice couple next to me at the tasting bar bought it for me because they belonged and the staff just turned a kindly blind eye. I'm not sure why they offered it in their tasting menu if it wasn't for sale. I recommend Duck Pond as one of your stops. read more

Stopped in for a taste and everything was "ok" at best. The per bottle pricing is a little expensive compared to other stops along our adventure where we did experience the wow factor from those sampling's ... unfortunately, we didn't buy anything here but the property is beautiful and the staff is very friendly. I attend the winery for a tasting with my family last week. We got several different tastes, a tour through various parts of the winery, and overall had outstanding service. They also provided a delish assortment of bread, crackers, and cheese. Everybody was very laid-back and approachable, much different that the other winery we visited that day. read more

One of the best wineries in the Willamette valley. Paul was taking care of us while we were on the property for tasting. My wife and I really appreciated his knowledge of the wines and overall did an outstanding job of shuffling crowds of people during a busier time. Duck pond has a very nice facility, as you can see it from hwy 99. The wines are very good for being a reasonably low price. A friend was visiting from out of town and we dedcided to spend our afternoon sampling wines in Dundee. We knew that there were many great wineries in the area, but we didn't know much more than that! Our first stop was at Duck Pond. Not only was the staff in the tasting room knowledgeable, they went out of their way to ensure that we were satisfied and our quesitons were answered. The tasting menu offered a nice variety of wines, but we were also asked if we had any favorites that were not currently offered. When I let our hostess know that I really enjoyed a Sangiovese, she opened a bottle on the spot! When we asked for recommendations about what other wineries we should visit while in the area, they were happy to talk about their favorites...and made a couple of great lunch suggestions as well. Duck Pond is legit. If you are looking for good, reasonably priced wine without the pretension, this is your place. We went to a couple of the higher end tasting rooms in Newberg, and though the wine was good, the tastings were pricey. I am used to going tasting in Napa where you don't pay that much for a tasting and they are more generous with the pours. We had a great time, our host was lovely and let us sample the wines at our pace and also gave us time to chat with each other, which was nice. She also was really sweet when my husband mixed up Syrah and Shiraz, she corrected him and let him know about the difference without a hint of condescension. We had the complementary tasting and the red tasting, both were great. Then they have a cute little couch area in the back that they will let you take your own bottle to so we got to hang out and relax and enjoy more of their wine. The winter was the perfect time to go as we were the only ones tasting at the time. We will be back for sure! read more

We went on a girls wine country trip and ended up at Duck Pond during Dundee traffic. We were super impressed with the amount of pours (7) for only $5! Bottles were also very reasonably priced from $12-18. Like most tasting rooms, they waive the tasting fee if you purchase, so at the end of the day, a $12 Syrah with a "free" 7 glass pour is a pretty good deal! Duck Pond is a cute little place. The prices are beyond reasonable. While visiting Oregon we hit several of the big wineries: Erath, Penner Ash, Van Duzer, Benton Lane... ect. We saw Duck Pond on the map and decided to stop in and check them out, as we had never had their wine before. It is on the more mass produced side and not as complex as some of the other wineries we have been to. I am a little bit of a cork nerd, but by no means am I a wine snob. In a blind tasting I once saw a $5 bottle beat out several $100- $300 bottles. Everything has it's place, and Duck Pond makes very drinkable, everyday wine. They don't pretend to be anything that they are not. I enjoyed my tasting thought their bottles would be in the $20- $30 range and was pleasently surprised to find them in the $12- $20 range, plus we got a 25% off discount for checking in on yelp (can you say a bottle under $10!). We bought several bottles to take to a family function to accompany some more expensive offerings. The young lady who was pouring at our tasting was lovely. She was plesant and very helpful. read more
