Duck Donuts not only has really unique donut choices on the menu, but also lets you create custom donuts from any of their toppings. The restaurant is always clean, and the staff is super friendly! I've been in Kittyhawk for 4 days now and have been back twice. My group decided to get an assortment of donuts, my favorite though: Citrus Pop! We also got: Maple Icing with chopped bacon, Sunrise Lemon Icing with Raspberry Drizzle, Peanut Butter Icing with Chocolate Drizzle, French Toast, Cookie and Cream, Vanilla Icing with Shredded Coconut. Some of them sound weird, but their donuts are perfectly fried and the dough is amazing. I'd suggest getting an assortment, they can pick them for you, and just try each and every one of them. Although they cost more than the average donut, it's worth it. I will return before I leave to go back to the Midwest and I'll get a little of everything. These donuts are amazing, especially if you eat them right away when they're nice and warm, they are delicious. The only negative thing probably I have to say is there is always a long wait because they do decorate each donut individually which is time consuming. We have gone into several duck donuts always to see a long line so we left, but this last time when we stopped and waited we were very pleasantly surprised at how good they were so I know why there's a long line. Definitely give them a try and eat them as quick as possible while they're warm because there's so much better than when they cool off. read more

I love the concept this place presents. Basically a make your own doughnut place. You pick basically everything that makes up the doughnut. They were very tasty and a great, lazy breakfast. If you want these doughnuts I have to suggest that you make it here early. The one day that we did decide to get these we drug our feet getting here and didn't realize the hours. Our bad mistake. The lemon iced was like a lemon pound cake and the strawberry was refreshing too not a heavy glaze. Peanut butter icing needed the bacon... when we arrived at the store it was a bit hectic so I didn't get a chance to ask about it.(Even though the website offers it as a topping). My review is entirely based on what others have told me about these donuts because they don't have any gluten-free options, but that's ok because I can see why. When we came to pick up a big order for the fam, there was a considerable line around 9am already on a Friday morning. I could see the two tiny machines cranking out the globs of dough right into the hot oil and then launching them out the other end. Which is how I can see it would be impossible for them to do gluten free because they would have had to switch out the entire container that plopped out the dough and it would still be shared oils so there's not really much point. But I also hate them a little for that because it smelled SO GOOD and all of their frosting combos were creative and very drool-inducing. They instantly disappeared as soon as we put the box on the kitchen counter. So don't let my bitterness because I couldn't partake sway you! read more

They only have cake doughnuts and I don't care for cake doughnuts, so with that being said... I ordered two doughnuts, a glazed and a cinnamon glazed vanilla drizzle. Both the doughnuts were freshly made and very warm when I ate them. Both were very good and didn't taste like a cake doughnut, so that was nice. I didn't care for the stronger coffee (I forget the name of it, it was particularly strong). Only exception is the breakfast sandwich, they have to go to the back for that, it's a processed egg product patty thing and processed cheese. I opted for the bacon, it was chewy and soggy as of it had been microwaved, because it likely had been. If you like Starbucks breakfast sandwiches, this is on par.
