Personally I suggest the chocolate and peanut butter toppings but aside from lemon (which just isn't my thing) I think they're all great - even plain. Kinda busy in the morning so be ready to wait - but well worth it. Overrated. I heard so much about this place that I decided to get some. Trust me I really wanted to love their doughnuts because I want to support local. Yeah, don't do that if there are lots of said mommies there. You're wet with anticipation, but the moisture is your body reacting in flushed panic to the thermo radiation of the direct, still newly risen sun & the heart rate, attempting to avoid physical shut-down from the direct overdose of liquid sugar and the release of a quart of insulin into the bloodstream. But, it's all good. So, go here for cake donuts with gooey confectioners icing and sprinkles if your sweet tooth needs emergency triage. Although I love these donuts my experience here made me leave before ordering. The line line was long but the service was 10 times longer. The workers were so slow probably hung over from the night before. One server was coughing all over the donuts and then to our horror the heat light bulb burnt out over the donuts and she attempted to change it with fresh donuts underneath. That saod, we've been there three times and twice now our order has been wrong. I'm sure it's overwhelming to be making donuts to order but a slower process would make less errors. I have been a fan of Krispy Kreme donuts BUT you truly cannot compare cake doughnuts to regular donuts. They are equally delicious especially when you are in vacay mode and have the late night or middle of the day munchies from whatever extracurricular activities you may partake in. Best time to hit this place up is definitely late afternoons or evenings. I cut the each flavor like a slice of cake to taste all the flavors so my housemates were not particularly fond of me. They are so fresh and have that homemade taste. I'm a bit if a bacon freak, so the maple bacon was a natural choice. But then I went back to have the orange glaze, regular glaze, and the cinnamon. Duck donuts is awesome! First off I went on a Tuesday afternoon and it was pretty empty which was great. There was also this wonderful woman working the counter who my boyfriend says "is nicer than anyone we ever encounter in New York, she made me feel like family." Maybe I had heard to many great stories. We waited for 40 minutes just to order. Then another 15 minutes for the order to be ready. No problem there, if it's good, it's worth the wait. These are "cake" like deserts, and this is where my issues start. They do add icing to the top, sprinkles if you desire and other syrups. Great idea, great concept, and with a line out the door like it has, then why not charge what they do for them. I will stick to my KK however, enjoy this if you wish, most others seem to agree that they are fantastic! read more

Holy Duck Donut!!! I had discovered Duck Donuts on my last trip to the Outer Banks a couple of years ago and I've been dreaming about these donuts ever since. I would like to preface this review with the fact that I really don't even like donuts, I had come here on a whim to see if they had coffee and was overwhelmed by the smell of delicious fresh donuts so I figured why not and got one. The donuts had just come right out of the oven and I asked for a chocolate and coconut donut. My mind was instantly blown. I was apprehensive to even try the donut at first because they are all essentially the same, different toppings can be added to them to make them unique (I tend to go with the jelly filled on a rare occasion when I purchase one).
