The food is fine for the price but the manager (heavyset man with a beer gut, beard, and ponytail) of this specific establishment is a real tool. Ladies if you look good he might let you slide on free items (I've seen it myself) but fellas he's gonna hassle you even for sour cream if you don't tip him enough to his satisfaction and then complain to your face about it if you're a regular. To those that care: The specific incident that caused my review was I had went in on a tuesday for their "taco Tuesday" special. Now because I work by the oceanfront I frequent this place. I've been told they aren't supposed to let you walk out with to go orders on their taco Tuesday, but if I pay for and eat some of my food who is this manager to say I can't leave with a to go box(which in most cases I have), but I digress. I tried to do it today and the manager comes to me with a nasty attitude over me not tipping enough for his standards telling me I can't take my food to go because he doesn't feel I tip enough and "what's a 5 dollar tip gonna do for him". Keep in mind I told him I'm not ordering food for just myself I sometimes take lunch orders from work which is never more than 5 to go small tacos. I've never been rude to this man I'm a quiet person so I usually order wait and leave. I work for a reputable company that sees a lot of tourism and I often recommended this spot to our guests but due to this situation I will be advising people to avoid this place if you're not just going to drink at the end of the night on The Weekend. In the specific event the owner of the restaurant was there and confirmed they weren't supposed to be doing to go tacos which I can respect. What I dont respect is the manager picking and choosing when he wants to follow the rules of the establishment for his own gain. read more

On one hand, this seems like the place to be on a Friday/Saturday night. However, for our purposes of grabbing a small bite and a few drinks, it really was not our cup of tea. The only reason why we decided to venture elsewhere after having a beer was because the music was entirely too loud for us. That said, the other patrons looked like they were having a great time, so that's promising for a potential visit in the future. Nice "bar scene" with lots of tv's and pool tables. It's loud inside so not best for conversation. Service was quick and respectful. Order was received quickly and looked great. Pleasant surprise! We stumbled across this place during the Strawberry Festival () and thought we would grab a drink and fries for the kids really quick then leave. The fries were LITERALLY the best I've ever had. No exaggeration. We also had the brisket tacos with the cheese crusted tortilla and every bite was amazing. I don't even like red onions but the pickled red onions were even amazing. Lastly we had the Cajun Peel -n- Eat Shrimp and they had the most amazing sauce. For a Tuesday night at 11 PM, Duck Dive Tavern was absolutely poppin! After catching a concert at the Dome (which is just a short walk away), my friends and I were looking for a spot to keep the night going, and Duck Dive was perfect. The energy inside was fantastic! They had a DJ playing fun tracks, people dancing, and the whole place just felt lively and inviting. What really stood out were the deals. $3 tacos and $3 Modelos! You can't beat that. The tacos were tasty and made for the perfect late night snack. Pairing them with an cold Modelo was a great way to unwind after the show. The bartenders were super friendly, even with a big crowd at the bar. We never waited long for drinks, and they made great recommendations, especially when it came to the tacos! On top of that, you could just tell the staff genuinely wanted everyone to have a good time. It gave the whole place such a laid back. The crowd was an awesome mix of locals, after hours concert goers, and people just looking to have a good time on a weeknight. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves, whether they were hitting the dance floor, catching the game on TV, or just hanging out laughing with friends. Yelp recommended this cute little spot for me. I'm in town on business and wanted a good burger. The staff were friendly and the place was clean. Very nice bathrooms as well. As I've seen on some other reviews on here, it seems like they do in fact tip themselves way more than what was put on the receipt. Cheyenne, I'm not too sure how to spell her name, but she was cussing out one of my friends as they were trying to pay their tab and on top of that she overcharged them and tipped herself a good $88 dollars. The good reviews brought us here to give them a try. Easy parking just off Laskin Rd, This is a spacious bar/restaurant, with many booths and high top tables and chairs. The bar spans almost the entire length of the business. There is plenty of room to mingle. The atmosphere is geared to those who like hard rock, that's what was playing, but not obnoxiously loud. They also have bands coming in, I don't know their schedules. To the food. The menu is not extensive. One side food and one side drinks. Specials were posted out front and on a board in the back. A review recommended dish was the Smash burger. My husband ordered a double, and it was really stacked with all the trimmings on a fresh bun. This came with French fries that were delicious, hot, and fresh as they should be. He was in his glory with the burger. Expect it to be well done. I was not as fortunate, I ordered the Fish and Chips, which was Cod, one of my favorites! What arrived was again the delightful French fries, and the Cod was 3 oval breaded pieces about 3" long and 1" wide, maybe 1/2" thick. The Cod was barely there. It was mostly breading. I could not get the flavor of the fish!. It screamed of prepackaged and frozen. I was disappointed. They did have cocktail sauce, malt vinegar, and ketchup as condiments. The service was great. The food here is spectacular. You're not going to leave here hungry. I have the double Smash burger, and the old bay wings. The wings were delicious, and the Smashburger was one of the best burgers I've had lifetime. The portion they give you of french fries is ridiculous, but perfect again you're not going to leave here hungry. The service was incredibly fast and they were attentive during the entire visit. Great place to watch the game, friendly atmosphere. It looked like a lot of cold beer even though I did not enjoy any of that I did see they have a very large selection. I have never been so mistreated at a restaurant This may be the reason for the lack of customers last night Last call was announced at 1:30am. Completely normal.... Then it was announced, 5mins later, over a megaphone everyone had to "get the f*ck out" "Security" then proceeded to physically push me, and the 10 other customers, out the door before I was able to call a safe ride home. During this interaction, the owner of the bar was sitting and laughing at patrons as they were being shoved out the door. I will never return and I am completely embarrassed that a business like this exists in Virginia Beach. read more

We hit the mean streets of Virginia Beach wandering around looking for refuge but there was none. The windows were dark and the parking lots empty. As we wandered losing hope we looked up and BEHOLD. The duck dive tavern was lit with glorious light! We shuffled in as two refugees and were rewarded with booze and burgers! The specials were like gifts from god and the TVs displayed the clash of Titans. And as long as these titans of men fought on the tv the 7 dollar appetizers were honored. bouncer put his hands on me, i did nothing wrong, i was trying to get my drunk friend a ride home and the bouncer grabed my arm and forced me back inside, then when i was sitting inside trying to get my friend a ride i was told i had to leave, after paying for a drink and not doing anything wrong, he made me leave my drink and forced me out, bouncer has an ego problem, i am a local and i will never be coming back after being treated so poorly. the man told me his name was trey, he told me the reason he told me to leave is because when he came up to me after kicking my friend out i dismissed him, it is ridiculous to kick someone out because they didn't want to accept your apology. im not sure if trey is his real name but if it is do not go when this bouncer is working. read more

I went here probably 6 times in 2 weeks in Dec of 2022. Amazing food. Brussel Sprouts are some of the best I have ever had. Tacos are huge and delicious and the Smash Burger is one of the best burgers in VA Beach. I recommend Duck Dive to everyone. read more
