An icon in Annandale. This place has been here since my younger years. This was my first visit, thanks to meeting old friends. Service was good. The owners were taking care of orders, service and payments. Food was fresh made. My meal was served hot on a sizzling platter. Everyone in my group seemed to enjoy their meals.

Duck Chang's is truly an Annandale institution, and dining here reminds you why it has stood the test of time. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed and personally taken care of by the owners themselves--a level of hospitality you just don't see often anymore. We started with a combo appetizer platter that arrived piping hot and generously portioned, easily feeding four of us with a great variety of classic appetizers. Everything was fresh, crispy, and clearly made with care. The highlight of the evening was, of course, the Peking Duck. Watching the owner carve it tableside was both impressive and personal, and the duck itself was outstanding--crispy skin, tender meat, and beautifully presented. While the wine selection is limited, we were still able to find a Chardonnay that paired nicely with the meal. Duck Chang's isn't about flashy trends--it's about tradition, consistency, and pride in their food. This is the kind of place that keeps locals coming back for decades. If you want authentic Chinese cuisine, genuine hospitality, and a true Annandale classic, Duck Chang's is a must.

I cannot believe I have lived in Annandale and driven past Duck Chang's so many times but had never been, until today. Well thankful hubby and I rectified that today. I think part of why I hadn't been was I have my take out Chinese food location in Annandale & this spot gets put on the parallel with Piking Gourmet. I can see who one might draw that parallel from a menu & specialty standpoint and similar time frame but they have very different feels inside. First Duck Chang's is smaller inside and feels much more personal. We were spoken to by several staff including the lead chef. We both got something new to us and both had positive food experiences. I had the Sha Cha Delight; hubby got the Stir Fried Ho Fun with beef. Because we both enjoyed our meals and were on our way to check on a friend we ordered her a take out meal, she reported a positive experience. We all agreed we would be back. While I'm not sure how I made it so long without a visit one of our New Year's resolutions will be to visit again and repeatedly. If you haven't been you too should resolve to correct that error.

Excellent place for gluten free Chinese. Two of my friends are GF and are always looking for Asian food - this place is great and can make many things on the menu GF. We had the shrimp and chicken fried rice, the beef stir-fry ho fun (wide rice noodles), and sweet and sour chicken. I don't know how they breaded the chicken for the sweet and sour chicken, but it was great! Very crispy and crunchy. The fried rice was tasty and I really liked the ho fun noodles. But best was getting to share a meal that made my friends so damn happy. Plus, the service is fabulous - the people who run Duck Chang's are super nice and personable.

Me and my husband really meal over here, we're eat whole duck with 2 styles, snow pea tips stir fried and stringbeen stir fried with szechuan style ( little spicy ). They're all delicious. Service is perfect, decorate soft and warm like American style. We'll come back.

We have served takeout from here to US Ambassadors, and with nothing but compliments :) Super clean, super high quality food for the price point, run by polite, efficient and friendly employees who demonstrate real love and care for their customers and the restaurant. It shows! The weekday lunch combo specials are the real star here-for $10-$12, choose an egg roll or spring roll (or can soda), your choice of entree plus a side (white/brown/plain fried rice, can upgrade the side to things like pork lo mein, house fried rice etc for a max of $5.95 currently) A lunch special will legitimately feed me 3 or 4 times for the price of a fast food value meal, and it has veggies so I feel less guilt, haha If you select delivery, do it on their own website and opt for their own delivery to further support this gem of a small business!! If you pop into ABC or Giant, call here to place an order when you pull up, and it'll be ready by the time you finish your other errand. Don't forget them when you're sick-their egg drop soup will cure a cold quicker than chicken noodle soup! They are reliably quick, and reliably error free, you can count on them for an awesome lunch option or a nicer dine in dinner with real ambience. Just an awesome little spot While I was getting takeout alone today, sometimes I have my 97 year old Grandma with me, and they lovingly treat my grandma as if she were their grandma, too!

I have to admit the quality has gone down a tiny bit (some of the food's a little dry, slightly smaller portions, namely the scallion pancake duck roll was mostly veggies instead of meat), but it's still a spot I really enjoy going to for some homey food. You can choose between thick and thin for your noodle soups and I honestly like both even tho I usually like thick noodles. Their soups are nice and brothy, not too rich which I like. I've tried most of the food on the menu and it covers the bases for when you're feeling something more light or something more filling.

We tried A&J and liked it a lot!…read more This is not a typical Chinese-American restaurant. A&J has quite a few pleasantly unexpected dishes. Service was welcoming and efficient. On a mid-Saturday afternoon, the restaurant was about ¾ full. We started out with the Wonton Soup and the Spicy Wonton soup. The Wonton soup is just okay, but the Spicy Wonton Soup is wonderful and highly recommended. For another appetizer, we ordered the Scallion Pancake. It has a nice dense texture and I really liked it. It would've been even better if it came with a dipping sauce. We also ordered the pickled cabbage. It was good, though lacking seasoning. Our first entrée was ground pork in a delicious sauce accompanied by sprouts and thinly sliced cucumber (or was that zucchini?). Recommended! Our second entrée was a Pan Fried Beef Bun. The beef was flavorful but the bread was kinda dry. Our last entrée was the Beef Wraps. These were great! Who woulda thunk that beef and fresh carrots would go together so well?! Oh, the chili sauce in a jar on the table is extra tasty. At the end, before we got our check, we were given a plate with sliced cucumbers in a light tasty sesame chili sauce. Excellent! But the hot tea was an epic fail. It had no flavor whatsoever. Peeking inside the teapot, all I could see was a micro tiny tea bag floating or sort of sinking. One other thing I kinda don't want to bring up in light of the great food we enjoyed, but need to in the spirit of full disclosure, is to mention that A&J shares space in the building with several other businesses. The restrooms are common to all the businesses. A&J needs to lean hard on the property owner/manager to do a deep cleaning in those restrooms. I'll leave it at that.

There's a lot of lunch specials. I picked the beef fried rice. It comes with banchan and miso soup. The beef fried rice was very good. What was especially good was the delicious black bean sauce that came with the rice. I thought the tasty miso soup was excellent, very rich and silky. Banchan was kimchi, Danmuji fruit and slices of white onion. Accompanying the banchan was a dipping sauce that was similar to, but not the same as the black bean sauce. I will definitely be back.

I love the rice they use and the other ingredients are always fresh. They are generous with their portions. The chicken fried rice comes with a side of fresh onions and I some kind of pickled daikon (I think), a little tart, a little sweet and a nice crisp bite. Super yummy!
