During the five years I owned my Ducati I had the bike serviced and maintained at Ducati Newport Beach. I also ask then to sell my Ducati on consignment. This review will speak to those experiences. The staff here really care about Ducati and your joy in experiencing your Ducati. Working with them was great every single time. Service quality and promptness is excellent. The attention to detail and quality of work is evident, even to a non-mechanically inclined person. (I have four relatives in Europe that own and operate motorcycle repair shops and spent plenty of time in those shops so you start to learn what good work looks like over time in that environment.) There was never an attempt at a hard sell or an unnecessary upsell, etc. They tell you what your bike needs and they recommend what your bike would benefit from doing sooner than later while it's in the shop. Most importantly they explain things clearly so you can make an informed decision. I only visited Ducati Newport Beach (DNB) for the first time back in November during the local Desmo Owners Club (DOC) bike night and the store (and its people) made a good first impression on me. As with many things for me, that second impression can be even more telling as the new-ness of a locale (amongst a myriad of other enticements) is dampened and I can be a little more critical/analytical. As a Ducatista, DNB seems to have it all; DNB is solely focused on Ducati, they are a recognized Ducati flagship; DNB is active in the riding community as the sponsor for Ducati Riders of OC (DROC), the DOC mentioned above; DNB staff have always been approachable and receptive to me with positive interactions and exchanges at all levels (from the owner taking the time to say hi to the sales and service staff answering my (sometimes pedantic) questions; DNB is engaged and involved in social media (for those inclined to the digital interactions). Most importantly, as I see it, are the Ducatis. As can be seen by my snapshots at different visits, DNB seems to well supplied in the new, classic, and unobtanium. As for the critical/analytical point(s), I have to confess I'm nearly at a loss. That said, I wish DNB were closer (I live in San Diego county) or that there were curvier roads (that were convenient for me) to get there; that's more a me problem, obviously, than anything else. Oh well, I tried. For any shop I deal with, especially on new/first visits, I like to look around, ask questions of the staff, and if all goes well angle for a souvenir. For me, I figure if a shop couldn't handle the little things, why should they get a shot at the bigger things like selling and servicing my Ducati(s)? I would have deposited this review sooner however your world class service and hospitality had me smiling and enjoying my bike too much for the past 48 hours. The experience started with my phone contact with Edwin in the service department. He was very thoughtful and accommodating with scheduling around my availability, not theirs. I asked to have Steve Han as my technician and he made sure to add that to the special notes. The 3 days later I showed up to Ducati Newport Beach at 9am Friday morning and I was quickly acknowledged & welcomed by every single associate from the moment I walked into the showroom floor until the time I connected with Edwin at the Service desk. My bike was taken in and I enjoyed conversation with other Ducatistas in the building. I had the awesome view from the waiting area to watch their Ducati Technician, Steve Han, carefully working on my bike. The service bay area is in immaculate condition and a testament of their reputation as being amongst the elite Ducati dealerships in Southern California. The waiting area was extremely comfortable and accommodating. I had complimentary coffee, bottled water, soda and energy drinks at my disposal as well as a huge big screen TV to watch some MotoGP races. Within a couple hours my bike was done and I had a chance to chit chat with their Technician, Steve, after he took my bike for a test ride. He treated my bike as if it was his own new bike. Edwin politely closed out my service transaction and I was given a warm goodbye by everyone before I left. To sum it up, the way I felt about Ducati Newport Beach was that I was dealing with a professional, upscale corporate level establishment with a very intimate mom and pop operation feel. I contacted Ducati of Newport Beach through their website because I was looking for a Ducati Panigale V4 916 25 Anniversario with a serial number on the upper triple clamp that I preferred (I have a list of numbers that I like). Aaron Klink the sales manager immediately reach back to me and let me know the serial numbers of the 2 bikes he has in stock. He also informed me that he will be getting a third bike. And a few weeks later Aaron contacted me again for the third bike serial number. In between, we communicated by email many times, and Aaron was always pleasant and great to work with. However, turn out this third bike also come with a serial number that was not on my preferred number list. Plus, I was lucky enough to find one bike with a serial number #210 that I like from another dealer (at another state). If Aaron had the serial number that I like, I would not hesitate to work a deal with him. Unfortunately, Ducati USA ship the bike (and it's serial number) randomly. The dealer won't even know what serial number they get until the last minute or until they actually received the bike. Having said that, I want to post this review on Yelp as an appreciation for the excellent service that I received from Aaron at Ducati of Newport Beach. Just had one of my bikes serviced with them. After a quick morning call and the parts were already at the dealer that were necessary for my motorcycle. The price was right. They made the process fast and fantastic! They also took the time to check other necessities on the bike as it had been sitting for a year. But didn't do the hard up-sell. Two weeks ago, after months and months of endless hours of research on which brand and type bike I wanted, I came to the decision on purchasing Ducati, but more specifically, a Scrambler Nightshift. This bike is still somewhere in the ocean just waiting to port but in the meantime, I knew I would want to inquire with someone from Ducati to get all of the details. I opened up my phone and started searching for All Ducati dealerships within a 100 mile radius and I figured, lets give Newport Beach a shot. I contacted the store on my way home from work and Aaron Klink answered. Let me start off by saying that I have never had the pleasure of meeting Aaron in person but what an awesome person to speak to over the phone. The guy is kind, laid back, absolutely genuine. We talked for about 10 minutes and we decided to put a deposit on the Nightshift. Never in my life did I think I would potentially own a Ducati but here we are starting the process and man was I excited. Fast forward a week.. I'm researching everything Ducati, the brand, the history everything. I'm watching Jay Leno's Garage and youtube videos in Italian and German lol... and then here comes the audible, I instantly fall in love with the Monster. Two completely different bikes, I know. But did I really want my first Ducati to be a Scrambler or Monster? Don't get me wrong, the Scrambler is a really cool bike.. but was I going to take the bike on the dirt ever? Probably not. That's what my beast of a 4runner is for. I wanted to own something that had the classic Ducati look that would turn heads. I immediately called back Aaron and so now my deposit was riding on the New 2021 Monster. But that delivery wait for the 2021 is 2-3 months out (and thats probably hopeful considering there are 30 cargo ships outside the LA Port waiting to port). So here we go again.. the wait game.. but what about the 2020 Monster? they might have one of those in stock?! I start researching the hell out of that bike and realize I don't want a Ducati with out the Trellis frame. Not for my first bike, I want to purchase a piece of that history. For the third time in two weeks I called the dealership (They must be sick of me now). Dave Daniel, answers the call, "yep we have one on the floor". Was this it? Was it going to happen today? I drove down as soon as I left the office and I couldn't be anymore excited. Get there and see the bike. Jesse who was assisting Dave was incredibly cool. He rolled the bike out for me and showed me some of the mods that customers have done on their Monsters and we talked bike. Jesse heads back inside and leaves me w/ the bike as we wait for Dave who was helping another customer close out their deal. I then ended up meeting and speaking to a gentleman by the name of Mike. We must have talked a good 30-35 minutes about bikes and specifically the monster and all of the changes to come with the 2021. Peoples thoughts on the new design etc amongst many other things. I thoroughly enjoyed my conversation with him and really was just a great person to speak to. It's now 5:30 and they close in 30 and it's decision time. I decided this was it. This was the bike I wanted to pursue. So I let Dave know that I wanted to discuss numbers. We sit down and have the greatest conversation and after about 20 minutes of talking, here comes Sadie, who cracks the greatest joke and honestly at this point, I'm convinced of two things, I was going home with a Ducati and this has got to be one of the greatest places to work at. Dave and I sign the paperwork while cracking jokes and having great conversation, and that's all she wrote. Today my bike was delivered by Edwin. Third happiest day of my life. Marrying my wife was first, welcoming our children, and now being an owner of a Ducati. I know I wrote a lot but I'll end with this much. From my very first conversation w/ Aaron over the phone to meeting Dave, Jesse, Sadie and Mike, Adrian and lastly Edwin, I really feel like I was welcomed into the Ducati family.
