This place was less than a mile from our Airbnb. Luck score for us! We stopped in one night for ice cream. I went into order while my fiancé stayed in the car with our two dogs. While ordering the gentleman who worked there came in through the door and told the counter attendant that we had two dogs. She laughed as I had already ordered ice cream for them. I was touched he walked in while on his break so my dogs could get free ice cream! Well if that wasn't enough the ice cream was good. We went back twice during our trip for ice cream. Each time bringing the dogs so they got a treat too. Staff was always super friendly and treats super tasty. They do take CC but have an $8 minimum. This was never a problem for us. I've lived in the area for a little over 7 months and have stopped into Dub's several times for lunch, I've been greeted by friendly staff each time, served amazing food and checked on throughout the visit. Finally tried this place, which was definitely long overdue. Everyone who works he is so friendly and I've heard things about the New Brunswick stew, but decided to stick with a burger, fries, and a shake. I tried the Kosher burger, which had pimento cheese and bacon on it, with fries and a Coffee milkshake. The burger was good, but in all fairness, I like more toppings that the classic options, so I usually go to Jack Brown's. Their Pimento cheese is delicious though and I would definitely order that alone. I think that burger needs something else though, perhaps tomato & mayo or something. The ice cream is great! I would definitely go again to get a milkshake. It was incredibly light on the coffee flavor (I really couldn't taste it at all), but the base ice cream is delicious, so it worked out. This review is only on their Soft Serve. Moved to town and so many people raved about the soft serve as best in town, how could so many people be wrong or was it an off day? This was not soft serve ice cream but Ice Milk, so bad that I had to throw out the cone. I would have rather had Wendy's Frosty which I haven't had in years. Flew into the good ole 10-A-C today and my friend took me here for what he said was the best BBQ around. I'll be upfront an honest, I'm an a-hole food critic when it comes to BBQ. I do a lot of smoking at home in WA and I've got a lot of confidence of the food I make in my back yard. I've spent years perfecting my recipes and know I make the best BBQ.. UNTIL NOW... The special for the day was an oyster po boy. Coming from the PNW it was right up my ally came with homemade slaw and root beer they have on tap. It was so delicious I had the thing gone in a matter of minutes. Owner (who is a hell of a nice guy) comes out, sees my plate is gone and brings me a small BBQ pulled pork slider to try. THE FLAVORS. WHOA. That's all I can say. You'd be doing yourself a disservice if you didn't make Dub's your #1 stop for BBQ while you're in the area. read more

So, after a lengthy time without a visit to Dubs & well aware of them closing at 9pm, I was ecstatic to make a visit before closing time. I arrive at the place at 8:38, probably 8:39 by the time I walked in & was promptly told the kitchen was closed. The kitchen closes at 15 til 9:00. I said, well, its 8:40. I was told sorry. Wow! Discovered this gem passing by Chattanooga, Birmingham bound. Friendliest staff i've encountered and the only thing that outshown the owners pride and friendliness was the unbelievable delicious pulled pork plate. Best bbq i've had throughout Tennessee. The first time we came in it was just for ice cream. I had an orange creamsicle shake and it was fantastic! So good, we came back the next day to eat. I had 2 of the crumble burger (what Krystal aspires to be). My husband had a burger with pimento cheese. Both were cooked perfectly, juicy, and hot. We ordered the fries and onion rings to share; the fries were good, but the rings stole the show. I'm very much an onion ring snob and Dub's has some of the best I've ever had. Let me just start by saying WOW! If you are looking for a good, classic American eatery, you need to go here! My husband and I got the 1/2 pound burger, fries, and milkshakes. All of it was more than enough food for us and oh so yummy! The burger was a hearty, well-seasoned patty with fresh ingredients. One thing I really appreciated was the owner giving us an honest spill about his establishment when we were looking at what to order. Perhaps my favorite part of this restaurant was that they don't have any of their food from a can or a freezer bag, per the owner. You can certainly taste the difference in the freshness of the food. They were out of BBQ when we went because they sold so much of it the previous day, again per the owner. However, he had the smoker fired up while we were there, and it smelled quite delectable. I was told by a friend/co-worker Dub's had the best burger in the Chattanooga, however, being a self proclaimed burger snob I had serious reservations about this claim. My personal favorites were Merv's, Armando's and Tremont Tavern. After trying Dub's I'm inclined to agree that this is my new favorite burger. In addition, they have many other items on the menu that I can't wait to try but it's going to be difficult to pass up the burger. This is a tiny place with limited seating but that makes it even more appealing to me. The owner and staff are super nice and neighborly. I have had it with this place. Whenever I go here they are out of the menu item I am looking for. They also are notorious for shutting down kitchen far in advance of closing time then trying to push ice cream on you. Used to love this place but will never go there again. I'm ashamed of myself for just now getting around to reviewing Dub's Place. Let's just start with Jordon, the owner.... what a character! He is always friendly and often remembers whatever we casually chatted about the last time we were in and asks about how things are going. This is a big deal in my book as I see him talking to just about EVERYONE who comes through his door! He smokes his BBQ right out front and it is delicious! I can't help but get a burger 90% of the time though, I only rate one burger higher in all of Chattanooga! I have not done the crumble burger which I believe is something he carried over from the previous owners since it was a tradition, but I's say his best burger is the regular 1/2 lb classic cheeseburger. It has always been cooked perfectly, great flavor without tasting salty, I am ALWAYS happy I got it! The onion rings are big crispy fatties with a great batter and the fries are good too. On the downside, you will battle some flies if you are eating here in the warm months because inside is just a small bar along the front window and the doors are almost always open. Outside there are a few picnic benches that are not always as clean as they could be, but this is not a place for the stuffy fine diner... this is the place you go when you want to be treated like a local (even if your not) and get elbow deep into some good indulgent grub! read more

We talked with him for a bit after we ate, the place was already closed we got there close to closing, my son rates burgers he's 12 so don't know how much you want to take his opinion, but I agreed with his assessment, he said the burger it's self was really good he likes the soft bun, the meat was good. But he did not like the pickles, I'd agree they were different. The fries I was skeptical I like the regular fries, these by the pictures I was like I don't know, but they were pretty dang good! How did we live in Chattanooga for 2 years and miss Dub's Place? We were out with the family on the weekend and looked Dub's up on Yelp. With a near 5 star rating and affordable price we thought it had a lot to live up to. We weren't disappointed. With fresh ingredients and culinary school trained chefs, this classic burger joint broke the mould. My wife had the Red Lion Burger protein style (no bun) and I had the BBQ Burger. Both were amazing. Our kids enjoyed the hot dogs, fries and lemonade as well as the mouthwatering banana split for dessert. We liked the fact that this place is frequented by locals of Red Bank and carries with it a down home charm. Only minutes from Downtown and North Shore, it's a world away from that vibe, but dollar for dollar and ounce to ounce it will beat any burger place around. First time at Dub's Place today. The staff was super friendly and took the time to go over their menu. I choose the smoked chicken sandwich with hand cut friend and slaw. I wanted to eat outside because I had my dog with me. They told me to bring in my dog for an ice cream treat which she loved. The young lady brought out my food and was very playful with my dog. From the first bite I knew I would be coming back! The smoked chicken had the crispy outside, smoky and yummy. The homemade white sauce was delicious but I preferred the homemade vinegar BBQ sauce. This is a cute little roadside burger and ice cream shop that's been around since the 60s. A new owner is running it now and I hear they are trying to keep the old stuff and add some new things. All in all the menu is fairly simply, with shakes, soft serve, burgers, bbq, and a few special sandwiches (fish sandwich was the special of the day). There are a few seats inside for dining, but I think this place has been mainly big for ice cream during summer months. The decor reminds me a little of a 50s diner with license plate decor all around the walls. They do get a big thumbs up from me for being covid conscious. A sign states "no mask, no service" so I was glad to see they take things seriously. I decided to go with the crumble burger (comes with mustard, pickle, and onion) at $2.25 and a side of onion rings $2 and a PB shake which was just over $4. The crumble burger is just as it sounds, ground beef cooked scattered on the grill rather than formed into a patty. A little messy so you have to leave it in the wrapping to eat. I was disappointed though as the bun wasn't too sturdy (ever buy the cheap store brand and regret it because it tears very easy & seems to disintegrate under any liquid? Yea....like that.) and the beef didn't have any of seasoning at all. I love pickles so was disappointed that all I got on mine was one nub end of a pickle. Not even a regular slice just a single nub end :( I would have enjoyed a few slices to cover the burger. I was really craving a burger today, so this was kinda disappointing. The onion rings were good- large, whole slices and prepared when ordered so they were nice and hot. I don't think they are house made but they had a crunchy battering that was nicely fried. The milkshake was very good, I enjoyed it quite a bit. It's hard to go wrong with a milkshake and I felt like the small was the perfect size without overdoing it. I may give this place one more chance on the food but try something else. I really want to love because I love supporting local small businesses, but I was not wowed by my first time. read more

First time I've eaten here in a couple of years, but was in the area and decided to stop for old times sake. I arrived right as they were opening and since I was on my reunion tour I ordered two crumble burgers with fries and a chocolate malt. Then I was told that the owner/cook hadn't arrived yet and the girl working the counter was too busy taking orders to start cooking. She did however get my malt made but she must have just waved my cup over the malt because there was absolutely no taste of malt. In addition when I got look to the bottom of my cup there were ice crystals so I'm not even sure it was ice cream and not ice milk. Finally the cook arrived and he started cooking, or at least pulled things out of the refrigerator because when I got my burgers the buns were cold and the meat was warm at best and there was absolutely no flavor, plus the fries were only warm too. This is definitely a cool spot - The inside's a bit small - (about 5 or 6 seats and a bar facing Dayton), but a # of outside tables with umbrellas in the front, and a few more in the back. Ideal for fall/spring weather. The food was good, but I still want to sample more of the menu... Of what we had, the burgers and fries were good, but now i'm more interested in the BBQ for next time! This place is old school and reminds me of the kind of roadside stops the family used to visit when I was a kid. Had the 1/2 pound cheeseburger... Pretty typical fresh meat burger that was seasoned correctly, cooked correctly and dressed with fresh tasting toppings. It was great! Had the BBQ... It was great! Best I have had in Chattanooga, by far. Good smokey taste and just the right amount of outside char in the pound I bought. My wife and I went to Dub's last Wednesday night. The BBQ pork and the homemade cut fries were absolutely fantastic; they could be the best in Chattanooga. The chicken fingers were very good as well. Lots of Love put into bohemian burger which so filled my tummy that I could barely eat anything for letter. Oh yeah did I mention the chocolate shake. The shake is what childhood memories are made of. I'm sure if it was the the sensation of times gone by and what a shake should really taste like or the high quality products used or both. I don't visit this area to often but I'm sure I'll allow a few more excursions to be able to sample other lovely entrees that Dub's has to offer.
