I live in the Baltimore area, and went to Kissel whe i was looking for a replacement for my BMW…read moreF800R, which had been totaled in an accident. (i was uninjured fortunately). I had looked at several bikes at Bob's BMW in Jessup MD, but also wanted to look at a R1200RS, which Bob's did not have in their inventory. I had originally purchase the F800R from Bob's and really like their dealership, and felt that going to Kissel, another BMW dealership would probably be a similar experience. I had been corresponding with Haley about the bike, and determined a date to go visit for a test ride. Unfortunately, Haley wasn't there that day as she was getting married, but as i walked in and greeted Evan and explained who i was and why i was there, it was apparent that they were expecting me. Evan took me to the bike, which was in the service area of the building, getting a look over preparing the bike for the test ride. They let me swing a leg over and allowed me to look over the bike as they were preparing it. i noticed some very minor things, (clutch lever needed to be rotated up a little bit, clamp was a little loose) but overall the bike appeared clean, and in good condition for a 10 year old bike. The bike did have over 50k on the odometer, which was not an overall concern as i've heard very good things about the longevity of the 1200 boxer motor, and the tech also commented, "Mine has over 70K". I went and sat with Evan for a short period of time while they finished preparing the bike. He explained the test ride route, which was a short out and back on the main road, and i put on my gear and went for a ride. The bike in general seemed flawless, and i was very happy with the ride. When i got back, Evan said "so are you ready to buy it"? I said i think so, but had some other questions, most of which were prepared for me by the salesperson at Bob's. Evan answered what he could and also took me to the service area where i spoke with the service manager about what they did and didn't know about the bike's history, their inspection of the bike once they received it as a trade in, and what was done to it to prepare it for sale. It was a good conversation, however, i felt that the responses to some of hte questions were a little bit "guarded", perhaps because they didn't know, or maybe there was information they didn't want to provide. None the less, i purchased the bike and rode it home 150 miles, smile on my face the whole way. The primary reason i didn't give a higher number of stars, is i just felt like they just wanted to get me out of there. All of the processes went smoothly. Raelynn in the finance office was fantastic (i paid cash) so the paperwork was minimal. When i finally did get on the bike to leave, there was no fan fare for their new customer that just purchased a bike. No one saw me off and said "congratulations", took my picture for their web site or anything. I actually had to ask, "OK, am i good to go now"? Since then, i have learned that some of the maintenance questions i had been asking were related to a BMW issue with the driveshaft on the bike. They were answering my questions and telling me that the driveshaft would be replaced by BMW at 60k miles, but didn't let on to the reason why. I feel that this was kept from me in pursuit of the sale, rather than being transparent with the customer. I have no concerns about the bike or the drive shaft, however, i do feel that the way it was handled shed some light on the manner in which Kissel deals with their customers. I love the bike and am very happy with it.

A Riders Dream!!!! I…read morewent in here looking for a motorcycle jacket and helmet for my husband. The place was recommended by a friend for a great place to go, however, it is about 40 miles or an hour from my house. My husband and I decided to go becuase we were at a graduation party in Monroeville. Well the hour trip would have been worth the ride! Just parking in the lot was exciting enough. There were about 10 bikes just in the parking lot alone and more coming in. We went in and found ourselves overwhlemed by the selection in front of us. Boots and leather to the left, helmets and accessories to the right. It was a bikers paradise! We started by getting the layout of the store and then found the helmets. Thee was a great selection of style. My husband wears a XXL and there weren't many of them there, however, the store can order whatever isn't in stock. We then went to the otherside of the store to look at boots. They have all kinds of boots, motorcycle riding boots, off road riding, and ever work boots, both steel toed and not. While we were in the boots section a young gentleman helped us. He discussed with my husband what type of bike he had, what type of riding he would be doing etc. He got him the right boot for riding. He was very informative. We then explained that we came in for a helmet and a jacket and the guy helped us look at both. He fit my husband into a great helmet at a good price. Jackets were on the agenda next. The salesman assisted with what type of jacket would work well for him. He explained vents, zipper linings, showed us different types, etc. He was very helpful. My husband bought the helmet, jacket, and gloves. It was one of the most successful shopping trips my husband has ever had!! M&M Leather will become our destination for all of our riding needs!

I highly recommend checking out the boot selection as well. Friendly and knowledgeable staff is also a plus. The price on tires is the lowest I've seen thus far as well

Grossly overcharged for mounting 2 tires…read more Service: Mount 2 motorcycle tires on rims carried into shop. The good: Friendly knowledge Service, quick turnaround, replaced valve stems without being asked. The bad: Owner did not double nut stems until asked. After service completed, owner stated had i purchased tires at shop cost to mount and balance is 29.99, since I carried in tires in mounting and balance was $80 per tire. Total cost to only mount 2 tires was $160, no balance was performed but was charged. In all fairness, I expected some type of fee for bringing tires in however a 275% increase in cost is simply price gouging. I had hoped I found a shop for inspections and oil changes unfortunately they took advantage and lost a customer. I will be sure to share this experience online and I will take my business back to the dealerships. Response to owners comments: He is correct, the tires were balanced with beads that I provided that are dumped into tire while mounting. The point he misses, he charged to balance the tires on a balancing machine. A service that was not needed/performed but he charged for it. I mentioned replacing valve stems as a positive however, the service was not requested nor required. The stems were not leaking and the tires held 30#'s all winter. Again a service performed and charged without my request or knowledge until after one tire was completed and they destroyed the other stem on second tire attempting to remove. As a previous manager of a auto service shop, the number one rule is never perform a repair to a vehicle that adds cost to the bill without approval from customer. Lastly, I have no issue paying a fair price for service (in fact I tipped the mechanic $10) however price gouging is a poor business practice. However its clear he believes even a 200% increase on rhe most basic service is acceptable. FYI. I will gladly attach my bill here shortly so anyone can clearly see the charges for themselves and draw thier own conclusions.
