I stopped in for the first time, and was pretty impressed with what I saw. They carry on the shelf, Motul 15W50 oil, which is the recommended oil for the Royal Enfield brand of motorcycle, and previously, I have never seen this oil in-person in a shop before. I usually had to order it special from Amazon, so it is good to have a local option for buying it when I need it. They also carry maintenance products for K&N air filters, which I just started using in one of my motorbikes, so that is also good to know it is here waiting for me when I need it. The staff greeted me when I walked in, and asked if I needed help. They gave me a place to store my helmet while I browsed the shop. They even haver spots out front specifically for motorcycles to park . . . Cheers! read more

My interactions were with Tess, and for that I give 5 stars, bringing up an otherwise 3 to an overall 4. Tess was quite knowledgable and did a good job at listening to what I wanted. Further, when my ultimate decision was to keep shopping elsewhere, she did her job in pointing out options, but she was not overbearing. Stock on helmets was very sparse. Most helmets were unavailable in most sizes. I have an extreme long-oval head shape (more narrow than long-oval), so this has a tremendous impact on selection. They had a handful of long-oval helmet models and none in my size. Tess realized quickly during fitting, and pointed out, that I would best to not try to use an intermediate-oval that fit me fore and aft. There was simply too much looseness on the sides. I appreciate her focus on safety. The store manager was a slightly different story. He was a little overbearing and over-reached a bit far into Physics (but polite and friendly). I made clear my budget constraints, and he kept pushing. I found it uncomfortable. Were he not always wearing a disarming salesperson smile, I would have found it rude. It would have been nice had he listened to me the same way Tess did. With regard to Physics (thermal physics in this case), my suggestion to him is to continue keeping up on the popular posts on gear, but not to simply regurgitate popular opinion without performing due diligence research as well. I prefer to buy gear in person so I can ensure a good fit and compare options. I've struggled to find a good source in Pittsburgh. Most shops are bike dealers first. That's led to some negative interactions. I decided to take a trip up to Cycle Gear and I was pleasantly surprised. The staff were friendly with me and other people as they helped them. My sales associate (Cassy) was particularly adept; I told her I was looking to replace my daily sport gloves and, without hesitation, she handed me a pair that wasn't even in my consideration set and yet was a better quality product with more features than what I had intended to buy. Without telling her my size at all, she nailed it on the first try. She was very knowledgeable about the products in the store and made this a pleasant experience. Shipping at gear and motorcycle stores can be anxiety inducing; this was anything but that, and I'll be looking forward to making more purchases there. PS, if you're riding from Pittsburgh, avoid highway 8 (William Flynn). There's a lot of good roads to ride on the way up there! read more

I visited this store tonight for my nephew's 16th birthday present. He's a dirt biker and I am not. I know nothing about them. The guy here helped me find an outfit for him. They were nice and found pants that fit my nephew perfectly!! How often does that happen? I can't find any pants blindly that fit me perfectly. EVER! All I did was describe his stature and boom, they handed me the perfect pants. I also bought a shirt that was a little too long but was told it had to tuck in. Horrible Experience: Store is always a mess. Looks like a dumping spot for returned and defective gear. Totally unprofessional. The employees act like they know everything about biking and you are bothering them. It's like Burger King...I always wonder why did I ever go back. I have been biking for 60 years and lately wanted to try a Bluetooth system in my helmet. I am not being cheap just experimental. I decided on a CARDO Freecom 1 to try in a modular helmet. After my research I saw they had them in the store. I called first to confirm it was physically in stock. I drove from south Pittsburgh (90) minutes and when I entered the store...it looked like a tornado hit it. Boxes strewn around, dirty returned merchandise like an outlet or bargain cave. They had no helmets that were advertised specials and most of the stock was small and extra small. I asked about the Freecom 1 because I didn't see it the case. One employee said it was the one without tags...like a returned unit. I asked if they price matched, at least if I was buying a returned unit...discount it. It was $126 and wouldn't budge on price. I wasted 3 hours getting there, saw ugly returned merchandise and can buy the Freecom 1+ on Amazon for $108. This the second time I have had a bad experience with them. I purchased and paid for gloves online to be shipped to the store, when I arrived they could not find them. Revzilla has nice products and GREAT Customer Service. read more

I stopped in here to pick up a new motorcycle helmet and I've heard this place had a decent selection so I made the trip out. On arriving it was pretty dead here and there was one employee working so I was greeted on entering. He was quick to answer questions I had and had some good recommendations. This place had a helmet for all price ranges being some on clearance and some on sale to normally priced ones. They had a wide range of sizes as well in stock to try them on and if something was not in stock he was willing to order one for me to try. I did shop around the store and looked at there other products and it was a decent selection but it had a very out dated feel. And the store was kinda small. There is free shipping and free returns and the website offers ALOT more things than the store can carry. In the future I will be returning here if I need anything for my motorcycle before reaching out to a dealership. read more

The sales staff were knowledgeable and helpful. I brought my wife so she could select a leather riding jacket. She selected a jacket that she thought would fit comfortably overtime, but after thinking about it over night she decided no, it is too tight in the upper arms and across the chest. Helmet Heaven! I went here looking for a helmet and left with nothing! I thought I was well aware of what I wanted but the sales woman was so informative I left there wondering if my original thought was what I should get. The staff here are very knowledgable about their products and always provide great service. There is a dressing room to try on clothes as well. I gave them 3 stars b/c there is a slim selection of motorcross gear. You can figure out what size you should order but the selection is slim. They carry alot of gear for motorcycles. The helmet selection is the largest I have seen anywhere. If you are looking for gear you can be sure that they will be able to provide you with great information to make a decision on what to buy! read more

These guys are as good as it gets! Paul and the manager, Alec went above and beyond the call of duty for me and helped me out in ways I will forever be grateful for. I was on a road trip and had an issue with my bike and they helped me out as much as you could hope for and then some. I was even stuck on the side of the interstate for a bit while I waited for a tow truck to get me to Cycle Gear and Paul was texting me to make sure I had water to drink while standing outside in the heat. I have been shopping here for a little over a year now. I have bought all of my riding gear here. The staff is always very knowledgeable and helpful. About a month ago while just browsing the showroom I asked if they repaired ripped jackets. The riding jacket I bought there about a year ago had a Velcro tab on the sleeve that the seam was ripping off. They informed me that if I bought it there that it was guaranteed for 5 years. I told them I didn't have the receipt, but they said they would have it on record. They said that they would just swap it out with a new one for no charge. So then I asked if I could upgrade to a jacket with a liner and just pay the difference. They said "no problem". Then I found the jacket that I wanted but they didn't have it in the color that I wanted. They ordered in in for me, and I picked the jacket up two weeks later. They didn't even charge me the additional charge. They said that being it took so long not to worry about the extra cost. This is the best service I have had form any retail store ever!!! If you ride you need to visit this place. They have something there for every kind of rider. I have a BMW K1200LT and the prices at the BMW dealer are down right scary. Cycle Gear has riding gear to suit everybody budget. Check out there web site and sign up for there mailing list to get all of the latest sales. I've shopped at this store several times now and after the first experience being positive, it's been a steady decent to hitting rock bottom. To sum up my experiences, two issues exist with this store; Employee Matt needs transfer to a position that doesn't interact with customers and if the store is going to offer to mount tires, they need to train EVERY employee how to do it. A third issue exists which is that their corporate management is ineffective at resolving problems. Having previously purchased a tire from Cycle Gear (CG) and having it mounted on the spot and back out the door in under 20 minutes about 4 months prior to this incident, I was a customer for life until recent events. An unfortunate situation occurred, one I'll speculate on a bit, but when I went in recently with a semi used tire of my own into be re-mounted it was a night and day experience. First I was told it couldn't be done on the spot due to their being only two employees working. FYI, there was one other customer being checked out inside the store. I'll fast forward and say it was more likely because employee Matt, who I was speaking to, wasn't as interested in mounting my tire (perhaps due to a lack of commission?) while claiming it was 1:45 from closing time. 4 months prior when I walked in with a wheel at the same time of day, he quickly sold me another one, mounted it and bragged he's usually quicker at it, and sent me out the door a very satisfied customer with only himself and another employee in the store then as well. I explained I had a ride planned for 5 PM the following day and wanted to know if I could pick it up at noon the next day. While mentioning he was gonna be off that day, he said it would be done by the morning shift likely before opening at 10 AM. I was told it they'd call me to confirm when ready. As I was ready to travel back the next day, I called at 12:00 for a status update and nobody there knew about my wheel / tire even being in the shop. After a brief period on hold they came back to say it would be ready when I got there 30 minutes later. Cool. I arrived and learned an accident had just occurred. The manager of the store had damaged my wheel assembly due to inexperience with his store's tire machine. The chrome rim was heavily gouged, the brake rotor chipped, and the sprocket was damaged. My spent tire was still on the rim at this point. A 100% loss. I later learned the sprocket was functionally damaged as well. He was very polite and genuinely upset that he'd damaged my property. I felt compassion for his situation and while being very respectful to one another, we came to an agreeable plan of attack to remedy the situation and get me on the road ASAP & avoid the loss of use of my bike while waiting for the replacement wheel assembly from the insurance company. Due to length restrictions of yelp, I have to skip a lot of details but here is meat of it: For 31 days my motorcycle sat on the jack in my garage because I didn't have a functional wheel assembly. After a few dozen calls to the local store and corporate offices, out of desperation to ride again, I spent $115 on a used sprocket to get my bike functionally back together finally on day 31. 2 days later, CG called to say the wheel was ready but I had to take my bike back apart and give them my old wheel if I wanted the new one-not part of our original arrangement! CG had actually sent an employee to the HD dealer I commissioned the work to be done at and that dealer ACTUALLY GAVE THEM MY WHEEL!!! (see my review on 3 Rivers Harley too). CG claimed it was the insurance company's demand yet they couldn't provide a phone number or company name for their insurer so I could speak with them directly. In reality, they were acting as self insurers for the roughly $1200 claim which HD confirmed when they told me it was all paid for via a CG corporate credit card phoned in from corporate in CA. I had to produce my own estimates to get this money paid directly to 3 Rivers HD, I commissioned 100% of the work by HD under my name, yet somehow CG took ownership of my wheel when it was ready and held it hostage! I had to involve the CG corporate management, the controller of 3 Rivers HD, file a police report with the Hampton PD, but finally under threat of further legal action CG handed over my property and even that exchange didn't go smoothly. On day 35 I went to get my wheel. I was again greeted by employee Matt. I said hello, spotted the wheel, grabbed it and started out the door. "So I guess you're Greg" he said in a condescending tone which led to me identifying myself as such. He then proceeded to taunt my prior threats of legal action in a very childish manner, leading to me telling him to go F himself as I started out the door. He responded by saying (in a more direct manner) that he hopes a family member sexually assults me someday and followed me into the parking lot to yell further insults at me as I entered my vehicle. read more
