There was mother room that had handguns and accessories. There was another room with camo hunting clothes and 1 other area that had gun cases. It was a little overwhelming and crowded. Husband and I had a pleasant ride up to Clearfield PA to find this gun shop. We have been told that it has a variety of firearms, hunting supplies and clothing. Husband was looking for particular items. Unfortunately, this store didn't have what we needed due to manufacturing and shipping shortages. Three stars due mainly to the some of the employees rudeness. I did meet one woman who was helpful in the clothing department. She was willing to look for specific sizes. It was when husband requested assistance about reloading supplies and certain caliber bullets that we were met with bored sales people. I understand they are asked the same questions by different people everyday. I understand that they have no control over supply and manufacturing problems, but It doesn't take much to answer in a pleasant tone. Frankly, we weren't the only customers treated in such a manner. On the way out to the parking lot, there were other customers were talking about how rude certain employees had been to them. It is doubtful that husband and I will return. read more

I ordered 5 boxes of 12Ga slugs. Confirmed availability. They emailed to send my ID to ship and said they would hold the order through Monday. I sent my ID the Friday before. They sent only 1 box and charged $14 shipping! Obviously if they communicated in advance that they sold me out on 4 boxes and only had 1 left, I would have cancelled as apposed to paying $30 for 1 box of 5 shells! $6 per shell! Grice Gun Shop is huge, without any doubt not only the biggest in the area but possibly the largest in the State of Pennsylvania. The good thing about Grice is that its orientation is directed primarily toward sporting guns as used in hunting. Indeed, for me being from South Florida where most gun shops are loading with nothing but overpriced junkie semi assault weapon crap, it's a refreshing break. The guns they have at Grice are generally contemporary mid to upper range in price, everything from Mossberg to lesser grade Brownings, but hardly classic Belgian Brownings, no Merkels, Keighoff, Perazzi or anything close to high end, and of course you can forget anything the likes of a Boss, Holland & Holland or Purdy. Overall, it's a store for your average field hunter, which is just fine considering it is located within the City of Clearfield, a rather remote impoverish backward Appalachian coal town. The selections of guns vary greatly, so if making any purchasers, do ask questions as I noted some of the overunder Brownings offered as new had that little triangular stamp which means someone had found something wrong with them, and sent them back to the factory where they had been refurbished. The staff, however, is well known their honesty and fair dealing. They will tell you right up front about any item and will always stand by their word. Years ago I had purchased a Belgian Browning from them which then unknown to anyone, was manufactured with a salt cured wood which caused everything attached to the forearm or front stock to rust. As after purchase I had had the barrels backbored and fluted, Browning didn't want to take the gun back saying it couldn't be test fired because of the modifications, but Grice put me in touch with the proper Browning representative and all was taken care of under the Browning life time warranty. Received a product availability email for the Ruger PC9 carbine and the price on the email was $554. No where on the email did it state anything about a model number or a SKU number. Called the store and was informed that the price of these rifles went up to $649. I asked why then is the price on the email $554? The clerk didn't have an answer but asked that I forward the email to them attention RICK, which I did, and they would get back to me, no body ever did. I put one on lay-a-way thinking that once they saw the email they would of course make it right. Printed out the Grice email and brought it with me to the store 17 days later. The clerk informed me then that the rifle in the email was a different model and that's why it was less expensive. I asked why I couldn't get an answer when I called and sent them the email and was not called back? They didn't have an answer. I then called Shyda's gun store in Lebanon PA. and showed them the website price of $551 for the exact same rifle as theirs and asked how can they sell them for this price? No answer. Asked to cancel the lay-a-way and they charged me a $30 restocking fee. Spoke with the manager, Dave, who was very smug and dismissive while laughing at me and said that he was not authorized to refund me the $30 that the owner can only do that. I asked since when isn't a manager allowed to make decisions? He's answer was more laughter and " sorry you're out $30". No refund was given. This is a typical bait and switch and price gouging tactic of the big greedy corporation. Went around the corner to BOB'S ARMY - NAVY where they had the exact same rifle, SKU 19100, for $529!!! I will NEVER SHOP AT GRICE AGAIN AS LONG AS I LIVE!! The sales and management staff are very arrogant and treat you as if you're simply another low life scumbag and couldn't care less about customers. read more

I went in here over Labor Day weekend to check out their sale. After reading some of the other yelp reviews, and being a total gun novice, I expected to feel intimidated and out of place. Couldn't have been a more different experience. Everyone I talked to was nice and helpful and no one was condescending, despite me having mostly no idea what I was talking about. Rude. Rude. Rude!!! The first time I went in there they seemed to have no desire to help me. I got ignored until I went up to the empty counter. When I told them I was looking for something but wasn't exactly sure what it was, all I got was a point of the finger in the general direction. Very unhelpful so you ask someone else and they get irritated as well. It was a Christmas present and I don't know anything about guns/gun parts or bullets. Today I called and my intentions were to find out if they had something in stock. I was transferred to someone automatically who took the receiver off the hook. I heard him say "they'll hang up" Well not me, I kept saying "hello" so they hung up on me instead! What a poor way to run a business! read more

Trade in prices are insulting and the prices on used guns are very high. Selection is great. Prices are easily beat online on firearms. Prices on accessories, especially AR bits, are laughable. Optics prices are just meh. Ammo prices are average. Most of the staff are disinterested. Weekends are stupid busy and there is no system, like taking a number, to sort things out. This is the largest gun store in Pennsylvania and they have a great selection of guns, ammo, reloading supplies, and other firearm related products. They also usually have a nice selection of used firearms. Unfortunately nothing else I have encountered with this store is good. Service is terrible. Most of the salesmen don't want to deal with you. On at least six occasions I have spent about 30plus minutes just trying to get a salesman to pay attention to me when I was trying to buy. Most of the time they disappear from the sales floor whenever possible. I was there with a friend on one occasion and saw a salesman decline to wait on him when trying to purchase a gun because it was a half hour til closing and the salesman didn't think he could complete the paperwork before closing. The salesman told him to "come back tomorrow if you really want it". We only drove an hour each way that day and were told to do it all again tomorrow if we really wanted to spend $800 there. We decided to shop elsewhere. Clearly Grice's has a case of "we are so big we just don't care". Pay a little more at a shop closer to home where they treat you good, and save the gas and the hassles. read more

I have been here many times, have traded and bought several guns in the last 10 years, also hard to find items. It is true that weekends can be very hectic especially when they have advertised sales, I prefer to go on a weekday or a non sale weekend. I have never had a bad experience with sales staff, they have been helpful and knowledgeable. I drive 3 hours from home, usually to or from a camp in Warren County, when I want to purchase a particular gun, scope, etc., I call with their stock number to verify that they have the product. I usually ask a salesperson to show me a particular item, they will tell you if they are busy and refer you to someone else, but have never had a rude salesperson. Purchased a gun safe, 3 Leupold rifle scopes, and a CVA rifle and muzzleloading components at this shop right before Christmas for Christmas gifts for my sons and son-in-law. Spent well over $2,000 at the shop that day. About 2 weeks later, I got the gun out of my home safe to show it to my son. Upon handling the gun, we both noticed that the camo finish on the synthetic stock was literally flaking off. This gun had not been fired, had not been taken outside and only removed from the box to place it in my home safe. I immediately called Grice Gun Shop to inquire if I could exchange it for the less expensive black stock model, or if I could return the gun. The guy who answered the phone put me on hold and another guy then got on the phone. He was rude and firmly told me that they would not be making any effort to help me out. To make matters worse, the salesman sold me the wrong muzzleloading components for the gun, so he was obviously ignorant and just blowing smoke up my tail when he sold the firearm...they wouldn't agree to refund the components either, so now I'm stuck with them. In the past, I've spent thousands of dollars at this store on firearms, scopes, reloading components, safes, clothing, and accessories. The store is over an hour's drive from my house. I have never had an issue, but in hindsight, I had not previously needed service. Grice Gun Shop will never see another of my hard-earned dollars.
