What we like best about 5 Corners is the E85. This review is not the place to debate the pros & cons of E85. For those who don't like it (or whose cars can't use it), they also sell diesel and various grades of gasoline here. We have chosen to burn E85 whenever possible, and we can do this only because of the owner's commitment to offering this choice to customers. The Shell at 5 Corners is the only gas station in Fort Scott that offers E85. In fact, it is the only gas station on a major highway in Southeast Kansas that sells E85. BTW, the diesel pumps are in their own islands, so it's easy for semi-trailer trucks to fill up. The reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that I wish the E85 pumps were also separate. A lot of people buy gas here, and it seems like we often have to wait for a pump. Edit: I forgot to add, they have free WiFi. I would give them another 1/2 star for that if I could!

This was the rest stop closest so we pulled over and I have to say I was pretty impressed. I walked in with our kiddo, and it was honestly one of the cleanest rest stops I've ever stopped in. It was so well maintained, well lit, etc. It felt very safe to stop here after dark, and the restrooms were some of the best I've seen on the road lately. We didn't eat here but I noticed there were some locals eating at an attached eatery inside, which made me feel like this must be a popular little spot to stop into. Overall, if you're on the road, you aren't going to find much better - this is a great little roadside stop.

Very unprofessional. If I hadn't had a drink in my hand that I'd already taken a sip of, I would have walked out and gone somewhere else for gas. I stood there listening to this nonsense for probably 5 solid minutes before I finally decided to speak up and say I want to pay so I can get out of there. The cashier rang me up while all 3 continued to cuss at one another, didn't even acknowledge me otherwise or say "thank you" when I left. I've only been in here twice - stopped here on this particular day simply to avoid the traffic at Casey's up the street - but I will never set foot in Bear Stop again. I attempted to post a complaint on the local "Rants and Raves" FB page, but admin kept removing my post. This issue definitely needs to be resolved. I was starving and thought about a protein bar or a small bag of Goldfish, but stuff was priced like a NYC bodega... in Nevada, MO. -Selection wasn't as good as some gas stations, even compared to the Casey's down the road -Loads of trucks coming in through a small road creates a bit of a logjam. I'm down this way often so I'll probably skip this one next time around, but it's OK overall.

A lot of the amenities are gone You have the soup bar but they don't cook it on the weekends. Full dinners are gone Bathrooms touch and go sometimes they're clean sometimes or not. Nice thing you can usually find parking in here because it doesn't quite fill up although there is a Freddy's now directly within walking distance behind the parking lot which is nice. Used to be a good barbecue restaurant now if you like it try it and see I'm not a fan of it anymore. Other than that like any other pilot it's got a few showers it's a smaller pilot I always has been but it's nothing to really anticipate staying for as far as hanging out in. It really would be two and a half stars but the employees are trying to do with what they have so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt of the three.
