He was kind, empathetic, professional, and prompt. So when we were in the process of buying our next home I insisted on an air test for mold. There was no visible water damage and people told me I was over reacting. The house had been flipped and looked shiny and new. Nope. I will never again live somewhere without an air test. So I called Billy. I kept his info hoping I could just recommend him to other people but was glad I had it. Surely this was just a precaution... Nope. Stachybotrys. F***ing toxic black mold. He knew right away where it was. There was a toilet that had been installed improperly and was slowly leaking into the floor below. His moisture meter picked it up immediately. He even called me right after he tested and told me he was pretty sure the toilet was leaking. The inspection didn't find this leak, my realtor couldn't find the leak when he tried, but Billy called that out within minutes of inspecting the house. I'm SO GLAD HE DID! My realtor even shook his head and said "I can't believe he found an invisible leak but it's a good thing he did". He kept in close communication the entire time and recommended a remediation tactic to the seller (which was not followed, but that's another story). She communicated with me the entire time and was honest and hilarious. I feel like she's a trusted friend now! She even went back the next day to grab some more samples for remediation purposes. And this is a busy lady. She provided excellent info to our mold remediators (All Dry, another great company). She and Mike were in constant contact, so I didn't have to be the middleman. She came back after remediation and just hearing her voice and her optimism gives me hope that this is finally behind us. She also squeezed in an asbestos test in the middle of the project! I texted on May 23rd saying I had not heard from the technician. I never did hear from the technician, and no one came on the 25th. No follow-up from the company. On June 3rd I texted them again saying I had not heard from them, but we still wanted to do it. Rescheduled for Monday June 9th. On the preceding Friday they asked if we could move it to Tuesday the 10th. I said fine. On Tuesday morning they told me it would not work for them that day, and that they would knock $100 off the price in consideration of the repeated inconvenience and come on Wednesday, today, the 11th. He was required to take a number of samples from throughout our house, but did so in a way that was not overly disruptive and in a way that wouldn't look too bad in the stretch before any holes made get repaired (or completely ripped out). When the radon company tech came out, he said it would be an additional $300.00 because he had to hire another company to core a hole in my foundation. He then had to make a call to coordinate with the other company to set up another appt when they were both available. I had to take another day off of work, but they both showed up and the job was completed in about 2 hrs. At the very least, they should have requested what type of foundation the home had before quoting the work. I called the office to tell them they should honor the quote, and I was told by Amanda that the extra cost was "unavoidable". It was ABSOLUTELY AVOIDABLE had they quoted the job accurately!
