We got down and dirty!

Dryy is the dry cleaner of the future! They were awarded the Green Cleaners Council's highest ranking for being the most eco-friendly cleaner in the region. Not only are they helping save the Earth, they delivered our clothes in immaculate condition. Owner and staff were charming and very informative at how the process works. Well worth the money considering the A-1 service we received and how eco-friendly they are. Time to get Dryy folks! :)

$14.25 for a shirt?! lol!

I almost never write bad reviews. I used Dryy DC delivery service at my old apartment building - the Sonnet on U Street. It was OK for a bit. Their prices are not very clear - their website says one thing but prices are completely different. It was usually off by 50 cents or a dollar, nothing crazy. I'd commonly get credit for a few dollars by calling them and complaining. At the end of last winter I gave them 3 $250+ sweaters and kind of forgot about them. Randomly 6 months later they arrived one sweater a month. I decided not to use them anymore... I recently moved to Union Market and the only dry cleaning in the neighborhood is a brick-and-mortar Dryy store. I gave it one more try. To my surprise, one of my 3 shirts was $14.25. Here's a direct link to the pricing on their website: https://dryydc.com/services . They claim to have "no hidden fees", I don't even see anything for $2.59 on their website. Getting a blazer dry cleaned is listed at $7.20. Surely there's no way a shirt should be $14.25?! The guy started yelling at me saying that my shirts will get torn up because I use the less expensive service next time and that he wont be responsible for my shirt. Sir, I don't even know which service I used or what your method for determining why one of the three shirts should be $14.25 and the other two $2.59! My $2.59 shirts are actually more expensive than the $14.25 shirt?? I asked to get a refund on my card, he took my card and then told me he couldn't do it. He offered me a $10 bill (kind of weird) and said I would have to sign something for him? I refused to give him my signature and will be instead disputing the charge with AMEX. DON'T USE DRYY. In theory it's a great idea, but find a real local dry cleaner in your area.

Complete lack of transparency with pricing; shockingly rude service; only go there if you want to waste your time and money.

The first time I went to Barr Cleaners was because another dry cleaner damaged my dress and I…read morewanted to see if Barr could fix it. Not only was the woman behind the counter so friendly and polite, she was helpful. A few days later, she showed me the dress, and it looked fixed. When I arrived home to try it on, I could tell she did wonders. While the price I paid in the end was not the one she initially quoted, I was ok with paying slightly more as it involved fixing the hem and pleats of the bottom half of a dress as well as potentially adjusting the side seams where the pockets were. Additionally, she did caveat that she might not be able to fix the dress so I appreciated her upfront-ness. And so for the last two months, I have trekked to Farragut Square, greeting the folks behind the front desk and walking into the quaint space that is Barr Cleaners where the woman greets me by name and asks when I need my items. She is always flexible and can turn the items around within a day or two, if it's not a lot. Most of the times, I tell her she can take her time, and even still, it's only a couple of days, and I'm ok with that. The most recent dress I brought in clearly showed wear, and when I asked if she could take care of it, she smiled and said in her cute way, "No problem." Prices are a little pricey, but the service is worth it in my opinion.

July 9, 2026 I hate leaving bad reviews so much that I…read moreactually go back and delete them at later dates to not jeopardize anyone's livelihood or reputation, but this one will, hopefully, be immortalized. The first thing you need to know is that this establishment does not have a standardized list of services or prices anywhere online or in their shop. I first went to them on June 22 to have five dresses dry cleaned (quoted $79.45), one blazer dry cleaned and shortened (quoted $52.95), and one dress' zipper repaired as well as have it dry cleaned (quoted $52.99 or $29.99 depending on if the existing zipper was salvageable or needed to be replaced). The prices seemed a bit steep to me, so I told the woman at the desk, Eden, that I would shop around for a cleaner and maybe return. I decided that paying for convenience was worth it and returned on July 8 due to Barr's close proximity to my workplace. This time, I dropped off two dresses for dry cleaning/stain removal (paid $29.98), one dress to just have the zipper repaired (paid $28), and two blazers to just have shortened (paid $50 each). When I got to work, I realized that I was paying almost the exact same amount to simply have a blazer altered that I was quoted for an alteration AND dry cleaning a couple of weeks ago. I called to inquire about this and was given the runaround. A man who I suppose is the manager initially said that he did not know why the pricing was what it was then told me that it was perhaps due to some promotion going on. I asked how much the promotion was to result in the pricing nearly being equivalent, and he said 10% which still doesn't make sense. I told him so, then, presumably due to being tired of speaking with me, he told me that I could come pick up my items and receive a refund which worked perfectly fine with me. While picking up my items, Eden told me that the refund had to be processed through an accountant and that the man I spoke to before was not in at the moment to discuss things further. After getting in contact with him, he told me that the refund had been initiated and to text them my email address to receive proof of this via email. As of the afternoon of July 9, I have still not received an actual refund, confirmation of a refund, or any specific timeline for the processing of my refund. I called Barr this morning after they ignored my texts and got an AI assistant for the first time since trying to resolve this matter, so it seems I'll just be disputing these charges with my bank. These business practices are egregious, and I can only imagine how many others have been charged on a whim but did not realize and thus could not rectify matters. I cannot recommend Barr Cleaners any less. UPDATE (July 10, 2026): Barr Cleaners said they issued a refund this morning and requested my email to send me a refund receipt. I will update this review a final time when I receive the receipt. UPDATE (July 10, 2026): I received confirmation of a refund via email this afternoon. I'm glad to have this matter finally resolved, but my original rating still stands.

That being said I'm so glad I came here. I needed some clothes altered and she did a wonderful job. She was very knowledgeable and chatted with me about what I wanted for the hems on the pants I needed tailored and offered really helpful input. Will definitely be a returning and frequent customer for both tailoring and dry cleaning. Also, dropped my clothes off (2 pairs of pants and a shirt) on a Tuesday and they were ready by Saturday morning. I wasn't in a rush to get them back so I was pleased with the timeliness of the service. And finally, yes, this place is expensive. But honestly, I'd rather pay more for a job well done then go anywhere else in the area and have them ruin my clothes. The reviews that are knocking the prices obviously haven't lived in DC long enough, everything here is expensive. That being said, if you're looking for a bargain, I would look elsewhere.

My Experience: I needed to get a comforter cleaned because my washer and dryer are too small to accommodate them. I dropped it off on a Wednesday morning with no issues and picked it up Thursday afternoon. The comforter was perfectly cleaned; there was not even a piece of hair or anything left on it. They even sewed up a hole from the one time I tried to wash my comforter with no extra charge! Whenever I need dry cleaning or anything tricky cleaned, I will 100% use Mass Court Cleaners.
