We have been going to this restaurant since it opened, The staff then was friendly and courteous,…read moreyou felt like part of the community..Now we are rushed with no sense of community. Then the portion sizes were fantastic everything always taste good. If you wanted value this was a place for you and your family....Now portion sizes much smaller and the prices have gone up past what it is worth. Tonight when we ordered...our salads came out first as always, we had just dressed our salads and the main entree was already at the table. When My family goes out to eat we would like to eat our salads then have the main come not at the same time. My husband had Beef and Gravy one of his favorites and the beef looked to uniform close to what a steakum looks like. Not much gravy and if he asked for some extra he would have been charged. I had the chicken strips and fries...the fries had a fishy taste like the oil was not changed. When we paid the bill I did complain to the owner/manager about what was wrong. I was told with all the people here you are the only one to complain. This restaurant in the the beginning there was always a waiting list, on a Friday and Saturday night. Tonight this restaurant was not even half full.

Kutzee's is easy to miss as you cruise on down Hwy X. It's about five minutes from the intersection…read moreof Highway 29 and Cty H, heading south outside of Stanley. It's definitely worth the stop. There's nothing else quite like this classic supper club in the Stanley/Thorp area. This place is great for what it is. Worthy of 5-stars, especially when compared to the other options in the surrounding area (and I've eaten at most of them over the past 15-years). Please give'em some love and attention. I don't think towns like Stanley should ever lose places like Kutzee's. It's not much from the outside, but warm, classic log cabinny feel inside. You're welcomed in to a cozy bar area just inside the front door. I really wanted to hang at the bar when we walked in, alas, our hangries were getting the better of us, so we opted directly into the dining area. Our server was crazy attentive and on the mark. Well spoken, and very helpful. Food is classic supper club fare. Steaks, fish (deep fried and broiled). Baked potatoes, hash browns, fries. You know the drill. It's all filling and hangry quashing. If I had to be super nit picky I could give Kutzee's a few little knocks here and there - The minimum selection of call gins (2), bourbons (1), the unidentifiable wines by the glass (no wine by the bottle), the pre-portioned sauces and sour cream in plastic cups with plastic lids and pre-packaged salad dressing pouches are all slightly annoying. Though all are pretty forgivable and understandable given the size and style of the restaurant. Again, I'm admittedly being nit picky. Kutzee's could easily slide upscale a little tiny bit by having small fresh pepper mills and better quality (non-iodized) salt on the table, but again forgivable and understable. Our steaks were cooked on the mark, medium rare. I have no complaint with that! Half of the places in the big city can't even seem to get that right, so kudos to you Mr. Chef-man. You made our night with that small skill. On the flip side, the steaks could have been better seasoned with fresh pepper and salt prior to cooking, but the generous amount of butter added after they came off the grill helped temper that a bit. I reminisced about not having the classic supper club things I remember from my youth like the pickle relish tray and cracker basket. What I don't miss is pickled herring. ha Both the bartender (owner?) and server were extraordinarily friendly and helpful. Service was on the mark. The prices, for this big city boy, were more than acceptable too. Again I have minor quibbles, but with prices like these, big city boy isn't going to complain much. I left Kutzee's feeling sated and happy that we found someplace we'd be extremely happy to go back to the next time(s) we're in Thorp and Stanley. And our wallets didn't feel too much lighter after the experience either. Yet another check mark in the win column for Kutzee's. My final thought is this place is a secret and that's too bad! The 30-something front desk clerk at the AmeriVu hotel in Stanley didn't even know Kutzee's existed when I asked him about it. If Kutzee's invited hotel staff up for comp'd meals, I bet the future business payback would be more than worth the expense.
