This was my first time so upon arrival Dani walked me through the style book and my options. Then she washed my hair and got to work drying and styling! I was in and out within an hour. How could you only do blowdrys all day yet still manage to do a terrible job? I got charged for xtra for hair extensions but was left with damp tape-ins and a poofy blowout. On top of trying to curl my hair, she left the curling iron on for all but 3 seconds and forgot so many pieces. Get it together. read more

Heard a lot of mixed reviews about dry bar but honestly I loved my hair! I came to dry bar with a gift card given to me a few birthdays ago. I ddecides to give them a shot for my bridal shower as I didn't want to spend more money on getting my hair done. I read previous reviews about hit or miss experiences and was scared but gave them a try any way. I guess it really depends on who you get. Unfortunately I forgot the name of the hair dresser who didn't hair but felt comfortable when she was teaching one of the girls how to complete a old Hollywood look. I had an early appointment and waited about 15 to 20 minutes for my hair stylist. When it was complete I was absolutely in love. I recieved a lot of complements during bridal shower and people couldn't believe I got it done a dry bar. I think it's worth a shot. read more

The girl who did was my hair was absolutely a pleasure and so kind, she asked all the right questions and killed it! My hair came out absolutely wonderful for my engagement photoshoot, im so glad I trusted her! Overall I would come back! Plenty of parking as this one is in the mall. read more

Such a terrible experience. I paid $20 extra for my extensions, since they "take longer." My entire appointment was 45 minutes (10 mins SHORTER than their 55 min booking time, so where was the extra time I paid for?) I specified which style when asked, the Cosmo. And I mean, the picture says it all. I genuinely don't understand in what world this is acceptable. The cosmo is "big loose curls." My stylist did my entire head with a straightening iron and left me looking like Shirley Temple. This cost over $90 with tip. It is not better brushed out, because the curls can't form cohesive waves due to how they were formed. I have random straight pieces. There's zero volume at the crown. It's just awful. read more

I have gotten my hair professionally styled for over 30 years and have gone to many different types of salons. I have had a dry bar membership for several years. My experience today was by far the worst I have ever had in any salon. My naturally curly hair was brutally and improperly handled by a stylist who was allegedly experienced with doing natural hair. First she claimed she could not detangle with wide tooth comb in sink because sink was clogged. By the way she never used the wide tooth comb in my hair. Then she proceeds pull down on my natural curly hair from root to tip with a bristle brush that was damaged and should have been replaced. I asked if she had a paddle brush ...she didn't. At one point she gets another stylist to assist her with detangling my hair and they both proceed to tug and pull on my hair at the same time. In fact the stylist asked her if she had applied detangler to my hair. I even mentioned that other dry bar salons use certain products to make the detangling process easier. My suspicion is the combination of her intentionally not using the proper detangling products and tools combined with improper technique contributed to an extremely painful and unpleasant experience. My head is still sore several hours later. Worst yet there were people in management standing witness to the experience and did nothing. read more

Had a great experience here back in Feb and once before too. I find Drybar's blowout prices too expensive but the type of service received is is indeed worth in some ways. The salon itself is well maintained and very appealing. The staff was courteous and promptly asked if I wanted tea/coffee/juice which is a nice touch. This location is big with perhaps 8-10 chairs and 4 sinks. Came here once for a blowout with a groupon which was great - they washed my hair and got a lovely bouncy blowout. I came for the last appointment of the day (because I wanted my hair ready for next morning) so I didn't have an issue with waiting. More recently had a dry styling appointment with them ($25) which basically entailed just a curling iron and hairspray. That appointment was first thing in the morning so again got lucky with no wait times. The drying styling was fine but I would suggest going all out and getting a blowout because it's not the same same look/feel (even if you washed/prepped your hair). read more

I had a bad experience here - the girl who worked on my hair must have been new and wouldn't listen to me when I kept telling her my hair is still wet after drying it. I felt like she was so lazy and just wanted me out. The shampoo and conditioner is very small portion that barley covered my hair and left it feeling unwashed. Such an unbelievably terrible experience at DryBar this morning. First, my stepdaughter and I waited 17 minutes after our appointment time -- the first appointment of the day -- while the staff finished their staff meeting. Red flag number 1: DryBar does not pay their employees to arrive BEFORE scheduled appointments. (Eye roll.) Then, we listened the staff LOUDLY complain about how miserable they are working there as we got our hair washed. Red flag number 2: the staff HATES it there. My stepdaughter repeatedly told her stylist she was hurting her during the blowout but the stylist made no effort to adjust her behavior. We weren't offered even a glass of water. It is $120 with tip for two blowouts which is a MASSIVE markup from a regular salon and is supposed to come with perks or at least convenience which was lost since we started almost 20 minutes late. The place is also dirty and dusty. Do not come here unless you are absolutely desperate for a blowout. read more

I've been to this location twice now. The first time I went was my first time very going to a drybar. I had this very nice Spanish lady who was super friendly and welcoming. She walked thru each product she was putting in my hair which sold me on buying two things. I just got a blowout no style and I loved it. Came here again and had another very nice lady who gave me a mah tai. The curls hold for a week no problem. So crazy how long it lasts. Definitely worth it. Stay away. New management? Garbage. Hilma? Down the HILL! Been a customer at Dry Bar for YEARS. New management & it all went out the window. Do not go there. I pay for a service that I can pay half for anywhere else. For what? To get treated like garbage. I also lost over $150 to this place & guess what? The manager, Hilma, didn't even come out to help, speak to me... NOTHING. Fine, I lost money and nothing was done about it. But to not even have the decency as a manager to talk to a customer, let alone, long time loyal customer? Yeah, pretty much one of the stylists spoke on her behalf. "Manager" that manages to tell the girls to do her work for her. I will say... The stylists are the sweetest girls. Like I said, I went for years and I was loyal to them. I would be at a different part of garden state plaza & the stylists would recognize me from going so much. If anything is keeping this place alive, it's the stylists. There's nothing when you come in, not the quality service we pay for. No drinks. (Understood, cause of Covid, yada whatever). But certainly 0 customer service from this "regional manager" (still trying to figure out who made this executive decision.) And the bribes for the reviews... come on. "Raffle" to write a google review on them. It's all bull crap. You want people to keep paying $95 + tip a month for a blow dry when we can get for $25? Be kind to your loyal customers. I didn't care about the price. I loved the fact that with prior management, the manager was always kind - at the front desk. Greeting members by our first name. It's hilarious, because this "manager" runs 3 Dry bars across NJ. But doesn't come out of the back area hiding for anything. It's like a lunch break... but for an entire shift. Girl, are you doing hair back there? Or are you giving attitude to other customers? And also, they have new hires doing people's hair on a HOLIDAY. Imagine going in on a busy day when you have plans that day & you have someone doing your hair as practice for their first shift?! I saw this with my own eyes. That is what you get for your $55 blow dry, being someone's practice run ($55, if you don't have the membership with these new "perks"). I saw how upset the girl that got her hair done was. Please do better. The stylists are keeping the place together. Other than that, no one really knows anything there. I have nothing but good things to say about Marlyn, Nakisha.. all girls before new management. Treat your customers right and you won't have to give free stuff away to get good reviews. read more

I DO NOT RECOMMEND, not friendly and not willing to help, not surprised the bad reviews this location already have. A bad experience, I wanted a dry style at first but I put leave- in conditioner at home so they said my roots where "wet". They picked the blower to "dry the root" for like 3 minutes without a brush and then went ahead with the hot tool like a dry style service. I was charged a full blowout service without even washing my hair and using the blowout technique as that service requires. The manager, Ashley, said that "picking up a blower" was a full blowout service so it was frustrating that she do not care that the blowout techniques was not used in my service, even the website states that for a blowout service, the technique needs to be used. The problem here was not that my hair "was wet" was that if I was charged for a blowout... then I should have gotten what that full service. read more

I waited 2 years to return to this location hoping they had improved but not so. The blowout itself was ok, she could have used product to control the frizz more but at least it lasted from 2 pm until midnight. However the store is run TERRIBLY. There is essentially NO front desk staff on a busy Saturday. My stylist kept walking away to check in other customers which led to my appointment taking 90 minutes. There were a few people waiting well past their appointment times and they seemed to be getting quite frustrated. Understandable as they probably had somewhere to be at a certain time. Fast forward to the end of my appointment. I purchased a package of blowouts years ago and wanted to apply my last remaining credit to this appointment. I emailed Drybar twice in the weeks preceding my appointment to ensure I could use the credit. No response at all from them. I called on Thursday (2 days before my appointment). I was assured the credit would be applied and my account was noted. When it came time for me to leave after my blowout they tried to charge my credit card. I explained I had a prepaid package that needed to be applied. They couldn't "find it" then they didn't know how to use it because they "switched systems" (so all credits on the old system are now worthless!!????) talk about a scam! This is the second time they have done this to me at this location. At this point I assume it's just a $$ grab, they don't want to use your prepaid credits they want to get more money from you. I specifically told them they were not authorized to charge my card. After 15 minutes of them trying to figure out how to use my prepaid blowouts they told me I could leave and they would work it out on their end. Today I looked and they have charged my credit card which of course I will be protesting with Am Ex. My advice is to steer clear of this place unless you want to be double charged or up-charged. And late for your event. Hopefully they will get the message and start running the business better because they stylists are nice, but who wants to overpay and wait for their blowout on a busy day? Arrived 15 mins early for my 9:15am Saturday appointment the day of my bridal shower. There were two other nervous brides on the day of their shower. One was waiting 45 mins past her appointment and the other around 30. There were 2 more people I didn't talk to that looked irritated. They took me about 25-30 minutes late which completely threw off my morning since I had to get dressed and do my makeup. I had asked for a coffee which I never received, although was fine it with considering even another 2 minute delay would be too much for me. Styling was okay, but the product used didn't hold my waves for too long and they were limp 4 hours later. She made them extra tight knowing my hair didn't hold them well and they'd loosen, but I still basically lost almost all of them before my shower was over. Wish there was some extra hold spray that would have helped more. Front desk was present and lovely, stylist was nice as well. Wish they didn't overbook or take walk-ins, whatever may have happened to make us with appointments nervous and late to our own showers. read more

I got a cosmo tai blow out and paid an additional $15 for a bay breeze hydrating treatment. When I was taken in the back to get washed, I didn't get any treatment. I was just shampooed and conditioned with regular conditioner that immediately rinsed out. That's how I know I didn't get any treatment because everything was rushed. When I got back to the blow dry chair, nothing was put into my hair to protect it from heat. The stylist was talking on her cell phone for most of the time. My hair is fine and flat, no mousse was put in before styling. She only sprayed my hair with a hairspray after she was finished. The price doesn't match the service. Also, I feel like I was robbed for $15 for paying for a treatment I didn't receive. Don't go here. read more

There's a few Ultas in the area that do blowouts, I would recommend them over this location! I've gone to Drybar quite a few times and the franchise itself is GREAT. This location doesn't have their system together yet and it shows. About a month ago I made an appointment for a Saturday morning to get an updo for a wedding I was going to that day. I got a confirmation screen confirming my appointment. I show up 15 minutes before my appointment, and there is no one at the front desk. It takes another 10 minutes for anyone to speak to me. When they do, they can't find my appointment. I show them a screenshot of the confirmation screen but they say "we only send confirmation emails". I didn't get one, and they said it was a common thing with their systems to "glitch". I am adamant that I have this appointment . I even opened up my DryBar account on my phone and showed them the appointment I had. Only then did they tell me that they booked someone else for my appointment and the reason my appointment wasn't in the system was because they cancelled it to make room for this other person. So, it wasn't because of a glitch that I wasn't in the system. I don't appreciate being misled due to someone else's wrongdoing. The person I spoke to called the manager to ask how to fix this. I spoke to the manager and he just kept saying they couldn't do anything since they were booked solid. This was true, as the lobby was overflowing with people. Really frustrating service -- I can't even begin to tell you all how frantic I was after this!! The first person didn't even apologize. The only other time they could make room for me was six hours later which was unacceptable since the wedding would almost be over. Thank God Ulta was able to make room for me that day! A little while ago my sister went to this location and they kept her waiting for 45 minutes and THEN said they were so backed up that they had to move her appointment to two hours later to make room for everyone else. She ended up having to leave since, who can wait almost 3 hours for a blowout? Apparently having to move people's appointments to catch up with their scheduling issues is a common thing with this location. It's a shame it has subpar service since it's in a prime spot. (Note: while I am frustrated nothing could be done, I appreciated how patient the manager was with me as I was VERY annoyed. I see this establishment as having the potential to operate the way other Drybars do, but needing some scheduling changes to do this). read more

What a disappointment. I just paid $65 to have a treatment and blowout, and felt more confident when I walked in with a messy bun. I rarely write reviews, but felt compelled to after this experience. I had been to the Flatiron location once before, years ago, which I absolutely loved, but this wasn't even close. I asked for the 'Cosmo-tai' which should have been a bit messy, and instead got tight curls -- so basically I look like Shirley Temple. I asked my stylist to loosen them up a bit, but the sections she took were so small, and the curls were so tight, it made no difference. The place is absolutely filthy, which is a shame because the NYC salon I visited was immaculate -- obviously the staff there took pride in it. I think Drybar is a really good example of a business that grew fast and sacrificed the quality of their product in the process. I thought my stylist was really sweet, but my hair looks terrible. DryBar Used to be my go to place, it's easy to book, fairly priced, and I knew exactly how my hair would come out AND they are open on Mondays. HOWEVER they are NEVER on time with appointments and very unaccommodating while they are behind. During covid they make you wait outside the salon, that's fine but I've been waiting 20 minutes bc the hairdresser did not show up, it's not my fault but making a customer wait outside standing for 20-30 minutes without saying of trying to make a plan is unacceptable and unprofessional. I usually come in the morning before work, planning it out that I will make it on time for work which I'm never on time for if I try to get a blowout. ADVISE- if you are OK with standing outside for at least 15-30 minutes past your appointment time great if not go somewhere else. read more

I stopped in to see Star for some double French braids and I have to say - she needs a pay raise & her own salon ASAP! I've been having my hair done my life, and have NEVER had such a peaceful experience. Braids tend to hurt as they're tight to the scalp, but with Star, I genuinely did not feel a thing! She was so gentle & so detailed orientated, they lasted for days & looked just as good on day 3 as they did on day 1. I received more compliments on my hair that day than ever before in my life - no joke! Such an amazing feeling! If you're booking & she has some time available, definitely put in a request for her. I had a great experience here today. I was a walk in and just wanted a simple blow dry with some loose girls. The girls were all so nice and asked if I wanted a beverage or magazines. The place is so clean. All options are $45 and that includes a wash too. After I was done the stylist brought me to see all products that were used, btw they all smell amazing! They do offer a monthly club package for $80 which includes 2 blow drys and 10% off products. Great location in the mall because it's right off the entrance so no crazy laps looking for it. I sent emails and texts and I am getting ignored. I'll never set foot in there ever again even if it was free but again I don't think they care... I would go often but I am really upset about the service I have been getting for the 2nd time a row now. I got the same person twice now and she has no idea what she is doing. My hair looks horrible and it is so embarrassing! I literally have to go home now and redo it myself! My hair looks so frizzy, not smooth, curls are not even there, she holds the iron for 3 seconds. How are curls supposed to stay???? I became a bar fly member because I really want to myself and have been coming more frequently. I have really good stylists before these last 2 appointments. I would like to be able to chose my stylist or get highly experienced ones! This is not a cheap service and would like to be satisfied. Pretty Hair but the curls did not last. I had asked for a full head of big curls and volume. My hair had a bit volume but I ended up having to comb out some of it because the teasing was not smoothed well and just looked frizzy on top. Also within the hour my curls had almost completely fallen. By the end of my event my hair was virtually straight. While my hair did not look bad it was certainly not the head of curls I had asked for. My hair is naturally wavy and does maintain curls. Not sure why this happened. I created a Yelp account just so I could share this review. I've gotten a lot of blowouts (in general). I get my hair highlighted and I regularly cut my hair every 10 weeks AND I have gotten a blowout from Drybar once before (at the Flatiron location). That said, this blowout I received at Drybar Paramus was the worst blowout I've ever received in my life. The stylist hardly communicated (I don't remember her name) and I was very clear about what I wanted. I even showed her the picture I got of the blowout from Drybar Flatiron which I absolutely loved. Within the first 5 minutes, I could tell she was drying my hair all wrong and that it would turn out frizzy (it did) and then she got a knot in my hair that she had to spend 15 mins detangling, and only because I told her it was bothering me (note: my hair never knots like that). And then, when she finally finished my "loose curls" 1.5 hours later, my hair was this giant overly curly poof that looked NOTHING like the picture. I was horrified. She called the manager (it was the guy sitting at the front desk) over because I was clearly not happy and he more or less waved away my concerns. He said oh it has to be like this and then the curls will drop and loosen up later. That doesn't explain the frizziness at the top of my hair or why I have all these flyaways AND it doesn't comfort me when I'm clearly upset about my hair. I've gotten blowouts before and I've gotten my hair curled before. I understand needing to curl it a bit tighter at first especially since my hair is straight. But I have not once ever ended a blowout feeling like my hair looked like crap and that's how I felt. And no one seemed to care. I will NEVER be going back to the Drybar Paramus and will be telling all my friends and family the same thing. What a waste of my time and money. read more

I was dying to get a blowout from here for a few years and finally decided to take the drive (there are no Drybars close to me). I must say I was impressed and would happily take the drive to one of the locations again. I got the cosmo blowout and I was happy with the results of it. The girl who gave me my blowout told me it was her last day (just my luck). They had Mean Girls playing on the TV's they had which I thought was a cool touch. I really like the concept of the layout as well. You actually feel like you're at a "bar" and all the products are named like such. The blowout itself did not take too long which was a huge plus as I'm usually impatient about sitting for a long time. The only complaint I have is that the shampooing process was quite uncomfortable. I like that the sinks are designed to have the stylist stand behind you which means no armpits in your face, but there were 2 instances that water started pouring down my face... Not quite the best first impression I got. Not to mention, my face was soaked and my shirt did get a little wet. I felt as though the stylist was struggling but failed to ask me to move back more or adjust the chair. Despite this, I would definitely give Drybar another chance. read more
