Except for chain and fast food places off of Highway 99 there aren't a lot of worthwhile options for lunch. It's worth the short several blocks drive down A Street to get there. The place is large, full of character and clean. The restroom was updated and spotless. There's a nice outdoor patio with plenty of seating in a courtyard atmosphere. We chose a booth, indoors, and menus were brought right away, along with water. There are plenty of selections for lunch, including the usual burgers and sandwiches with some specialty items, for example Cajun Pasta. We shared a Bavarian pretzel for an appetizer with mustard dip. It was good but a bit on the greasy side. The mustard went well with it. For my lunch I ordered the Blackened Chicken Sandwich with Sweet Potato Fries ($2 extra). The portions are huge! Definitely a good value for the quality of the sandwich, which had big chunks of chicken, bacon, avacado, lettuce, tomato, cheese and a tangy aioli sauce. Quite delicious. Everything was fresh and tasty. I was very pleased, and full. Washing it down with an iced tea was perfect. Service was very personable and professional. We were well taken care of with iced tea refills and offers of extra ketchup, etc. When in the area or on a road trip throuth these parts I'd definitely be back.

After an additional 40 minutes, I went to the bar myself to get refills. Food finally came and it was delicious. However, it was apparent our table was not "assigned" to anyone. Every employee walked right by us, not even making eye contact. Beautiful, historical building. I only hope the service improves.

Yesterday, my husband and I were both celebrating birthdays. I brought a bottle of wine for dinner and we decided that we would have a couple of cocktails at the bar before we were seated. Casey, the bartender has always been incredible, great conversationalist, mixologist and he creates the perfect "Cheers" style atmosphere. The restaurant is always great about accommodating a special request. I had requested a thicker cut steak for my dinner about a week before our reservation and it was prepared perfectly! Honestly, the best steak I have had in over a year. My husband had escargot as an appetizer and I had the prawn cocktail. Both were excellent as were the salads and of course the entrees were fantastic. My husband had the King Salmon, perfectly cooked and seasoned very well. We also splurged for dessert and were not disappointed! The server, Casey's wife was so attentive, kind and a true hospitality professional. It was also great seeing Steve Ding, the owner again, he is always welcoming and genuinely dedicated to making your experience a memorable one. If you're going to be doing the full dinner experience like we did, with cocktails before or during dinner, appetizers, salad, entrées, and dessert, it will be a fine dining experience. DO NOT sleep on this restaurant. The only service you will be doing is a disservice to yourself if you don't go. We would love to go more often, but we are a bit too far away to frequent as often as we would like. They have a great Happy Hour and lunch specials as well! So go hungry and leave happy!

For dessert I had to try the Apricot Pie before I committed to purchasing a whole one to take home for my family. Let me tell you apricot pie is delicious! After lunch we enjoyed a glass on the patio area. I got the watermelon patch special and it was such a summer beauty and so good! We will definitely be back again!

The food was so undeniably palatable, my taste buds were going through the roof. Every bite was pleasantly satisfying. The mimosa also complemented the entire meal well. The entire atmosphere had such a cozy, rustic feel. The service was slightly underwhelming. Though it was kind, the attentiveness missed the mark. The price point of the food was fairly reasonable. Overall, the dining experience was lovely because the food was dynamite. The service needs some improvement; however, I'd absolutely return.

They are open Friday-Sunday. If you call the phone number listed for them the message states their exact hours for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. The service is really welcoming. The waitress/bartender is very friendly and answered questions I had before ordering. It doesn't feel like I'm just on a quick lunch break, I feel like I'm somewhere else then stockton. Maybe because I didn't even realize all this was so close and just down 8mile Rd. There's plenty of seating inside and outside. Having the option of eating outside on a beautiful day sounds great actually. I ordered the French Dip Sandwich with Fry's and ranch dressing. This is absolutely one of the best lunches I've had in a while. The meat was juicy and flavourful. The bread was soft and the fry's were fresh cut fry's. They were thin yet bigger like steak fry's and were the best I've had ever. Those alone are worth visiting this restaurant! I'll be back for sure to try more of their food. If it's anything like my lunch then I'm becoming a fast regular customer of theirs!
