Restaurant space is clean and open. Nice that there's a bar as well, might be fun to catch some soccer matches here in the future. The person taking our orders was nice and patient as we looked through their manue and the kids figured out what they wanted, and she asked if we wanted things less spicy for them. The crispy tacos are amazing, not hard shell, but fried flour tortillas which is really cool. All of the tacos and meats were good, my favorite was the pork adobada, very smokey and delicious. I will say the carne asada fries my daughter ordered were a bit underwhelming for the cost., The fries were plain and not enough toppings for the amount of fries on the plate, but it's fries at a Mexican place so... The birria tacos were delicious! The meat was very tender and flavorful. The serving size was generous as there was a lot of meat. The chile relleno was scrumptious and the serving size was also generous. The salsa bar is small, however there were more unique salsas such as habanero and pineapple sauce, avocado sauce, and pickled onions. Service was good as the workers were friendly. read more

My husband and I moved from the Bay Area and it's hard to find good taco places out in Elk Grove. On our drive we found the taco truck for Tacos El Ahijado on Twin Cities Rd years ago. Their tacos are some of the best. Taco truck would close at 5 but often times they have taken our order even if we arrive right at or after 5. Customer service has always been excellent no matter who is working. Now I find out that the restaurant has opened right in the same location as the truck parks. We checked it out and the place is small but clean and it works. Plenty of seating. Sign said it fits 42? Seating at the bar too. Tables with chairs and booths. Nice music, not too loud. They have a self serve salsa bar and we were given free chips. Food is as good in the restaurant as it is in the taco truck. Asada tacos are $3 each and I also got an horchata for $3. Tacos are authentic street tacos and come with onions, cilantro, and salsa. Garnish on the side of radish and lime. Restaurant is open every day 8 am to 9 pm and they take cards too. Taco truck is open till 5 pm and they close on Sundays. They take cash only. And I don't remember them offering chips. Either way highly recommend both. Have yet to have a bad experience or long wait. Forgot to take pictures of tacos because I was hungry and I devoured them. read more

I believe the owner gave us free chips and salsa while waiting for our burrito which was a generous offer. Order taking service was ok. I got a super burrito paid $14 and it was very small. I know it's a new business and we love their salsa, so we will give them another chance in a few months once they are established. read more

Called to order the carne asada super burrito with extra japenanos. Went to pickup and the order was wrong. They're not even busy. Ok, waited for them to make the burrito. Got my order home and have no side order of the japenanos. I was most disappointed with the burrito, it's not the same taste, It's way off. I was so craving the original burrito made from the food truck. I guess different cook makes the same food different. I will not be going back. read more

Tried to support a new local restaurant, but they couldn't have cared less. At first, the counter person was friendly, and we placed our order, got our number, and waited. About 15-20 minutes later, only half our food came out. We waited another 10 minutes--nothing. When I finally went to check, the staff looked completely lost. They even asked for a receipt (which we didn't take because we had a number) and then blamed their ticket system. At one point, they even asked me to go to the back to look at the unprinted ticket--what would I even see? Exactly. Nothing. If I hadn't spoken up, they never would have said a word. No apology, no urgency--just a mess. Plenty of other restaurants out there that actually care about their customers. Won't be back. read more

Delicious vegetarian burrito! So glad this new place has opened up. The dining room is tiny: only seats 24 people comfortably even though the sign on the wall says maximum capacity 42. They would be squeezed in like sardines, for sure. But I predict that this place is going to be so popular that they will definitely have to expand. Tried the new local place last night and it was pretty good! Husband had crispy tacos which looked so delicious, his favorite was the pork. Daughter had regular tacos and her favorite was the asada. Other daughter had carne asada fries, which was a ton of fries, meat and sour cream. Would have been nice to include some guacamole. I had the carnitas plate which is what I judge every Mexican restaurant by and they were pretty good. Crispy and not a ton of fat and they came with 4 tortillas, rice and beans which was plenty of food. The prices are a bit high, but I think that's just life these days. I did enjoy the salsa bar, lots of different choices. Plus, table chips and salsa is always appreciated. We will definitely be back! read more

Got an asada taco and a carnitas taco. The asada didn't have much flavor to it and was a little tough. There was some sweet salsa on top that was a bit overpowering over the bland asada. The carnitas, though, was tasty, had a slight crisp to it, and complemented well with the same salsa. Not a must-go taco truck, but if you're in the area and need a taco kick getting some carnitas tacos here ain't a bad choice at all. read more

Stopped by today at 9am to think they weren't going to be open but they were all ready to go! Food came out within 10 minutes fresh! This place is the closest you are going to get to some authentic Mexican food within a 15 mile radius. WOW. WOW. WOW. I ran across this truck the first week I was in town-and went back three times during that week. This truck is a PLEASURE to have in Galt. First off there are a lot of places claiming they sell "tacos" but THIS truck sells delicious tacos. I have tried all of he tacos and each one is good in its amazing way. Their tacos are legit tacos (two tortillas loaded with fillings so much that the fillings spill over into the decadent second tortilla ultimately making one taco TWO tacos!). Oh I could go on and on. Remember when food trucks were called "roach coach" to describe how bad they were? Now it's were you go to get a premium burrito or taco. I've seen Tacos El Ahijado situated in the parking lot of the local solar company at the roundabout near the North Twin Cities exit off Highway 99 for some time. Wanting to enjoy something local but different I jumped on it when my sixteen-year-old soon suggested it. My daughter was content to have something at home until she heard I was going to Tacos El Ahijado. I ordered four steak tacos for my daughter, a steak burrito without onions for my son, and I went with the super burrito for an extra dollar. The gentleman who helped me was polite, friendly, and quick! Twenty dollars later, I was rushing home to sink my teeth in my dinner. My son accidentally opened my burrito even though his well marked "No Onions". One bite and he exclaimed, "This burrito is amazing!" When I handed him his, he was disappointed by the downgrade but still enjoyed it. I concur, the super burrito was amazing. It is quite possibly the best burrito I've ever had. The addition of the sour cream mushed in with the Spanish rice, beans, steak, cilantro, and onions is soooooo good. It's also filling, though I really wanted another one. . My daughter said she really liked her steak tacos as well. So you can guess where I'm going for my next burrito and the one after that and after that. This place makes better burritos than the Mexican dine in at the Raley's shopping center on the other side of the freeway. Way better. So...I grew up in Stockton. My bar for street tacos is high. My BF has been telling me about this truck for years but we've never stopped by. Generally I'm on my way to Stockton if I'm driving through Galt, so I already know what taco truck I'm stopping at for food. We ordered asada and adobada tacos and were not disappointed. The meat is finely chopped and seasoned well. It's saucy and delicious. There is no condiment bar but on your plate you do get a delicious grilled jalapeño, slices of radish and a lime wedge. I'm sure you can ask for more if you want. There was a steady stream of customers but the wait was not long. This is authentic...I'll definitely be stopping by from now on! read more

Tied for 1st as my favorite truck in Galt. The asada and the carnitas tacos are made as they should be- salsa, onion, cilantro, with lime/radish & grilled jalapeños(s) on the side. I love it when my plate of tacos requires more than one napkin due to the tacos being loaded w/meat, and salsa (w/the right amount of grease) that you have to eat over your plate to keep your shirt clean and need to wash your mitts after. Eaten at this truck two times now. Today I bought both a Carnitas super burrito as well as an Asada super burrito and they are both mouth watering delicious. Comes on a paper plate with radish slices and a roasted jalapeño. Don't let the fact that this is a truck fool you. This is authentic as best as I can tell. Never ever disappointed by their adobada super burrito. The one perhaps overlooked item but is the most delectable is the whole grilled jalapeño that comes with most dishes on the side.
