Came in as a visitor, not from Tennessee and never heard of this place but while looking for LGBTQ+ friendly spaces, this spot came recommended. Great. What I didn't like is after my two friends ordered drinks from a random corner of the bar, I went to order my first drink from the same spot at the bar and the bartender yells, "move to the service line and you'll get faster service, over here to your right, get behind them and I'll help you after them." I'm not sure if it made me feel awkward or less than but because my friends are Caucasian I can appreciate that they checked on me to make sure I was good and asked if I was okay. I said yes, but I also did not want drinks from this bar. I'm grateful they could recognize something right away where I didn't want to play that card. Mind you the spot the bartender told me to wait at says "Service Area, Do Not Block" . Anywho I'd say go here to visit but get in the "service line". The one that says do not block as pictured. The grumpy older gentleman with the glasses will tell you to move the service area where it clearly says DO NOT BLOCK. So maybe I'm just confused on where to go to get decent service for drinks without being yelled at. And I guess that's alright.

I had an amazing time celebrating a friend's birthday at Dru's place. The staff and over atmosphere is so inviting and fun! Although I didn't order any food from the menu, you best believe I drank! Lol! They have the cutest names for their drinks and you can tell from looking at the ingredient listed under each of them that they would be unique and taste good. I had 3 drinks including The Phoenix, Sweet Tart, and Dragon. When I say they were refreshing and mixed so well, listen to me. Some of the best drinks I have had. The bartender told me that he mixed all of the simple syrups and came up with the unique recipes. The night as capped off with a lot of karaoke fun, music, and dance. Such a good vibe and I can't wait to return!

This bar, which caterers to the LGBTQ+ community and its allies, has become a home away from home. Tami Montgomery, proprietor and supreme benefactor to the community hosts some of the most wonderful parties, drag shows, drag bingo, and fundraisers in midtown. The bar has upgraded during the pandemic to serving a full liquor menu, beer and seltzers. They have wonderful pizzas as they always have, as well as fantastic flat iron style burgers. They give steak 'n shake a run for their money with the grilled onions! Drink prices are very fair!! Beautiful patio outback for smoking, or just catching some air. Don't forget to tip your drag queens and bar servers generously. Singles are available to be changed at the bar. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for current events and upcoming specials!

Come for the entertainment & stay for a few cold ones also be sure to try out some of their menu selections from their pizzas to the rotel chili & fritos. I never thought of going here. Until a friend asked if I wanted to go & see a show. After we just finished seeing a concert at the Peabody Rooftop. His car was in the shop for a short time so I said yes & obliged. I enjoyed their Rotel Chili and Fritos along with their Non Alcoholic Bush which all items were reasonably & I got away with a under $20 tab. If you want liquor they offer a BYOB set up. I never really view Drag Shows but this was pretty entertaining to see the variety of singers dancers and performances. It was a good time with a good friend. If he ever invites me to join him I'd be happy to. Feel free to check out their sister clubs The Pumping Station & Spectrum. Be sure to check out. It's 10 o'clock and this place is hoppin! The crowd is coming in and a show is on the itenerary. Everyone is lively and warming up to just a having a good time. I can't wait for the show to start. If you're all about music from the 80's and 90's then this is the place to be tOnight. Ain't no stepping but the show is definitely about to get started up in here. I'm on vacation, no kids, no work and free to enjoy life in the moment. Tonight I am right here for right now. Not an evEryday opportunity but it is for tonight. #peaceandhairgrease

Cool as dive bar. I'm a comic in town at the Monday open mic. It's cool hang out nothing extra. But this pizza is amazing... Major surprise. I had a slice of someone else's pizza and I had to buy one. I wasn't even hungry!! This is a diamond in the rough. Swing by. That simple cool bar + amazing pizza!

I had no idea this place even existed! What a pleasant surprise. First thing you should know is that they are a beer bar...as in, they only serve beer. But! They will let you bring in other alcohol with a small charge. I think it was $5? Such a great deal because I brought a whole bottle of Tito's with me. Second, their karaoke contests are no joke! They can sing!! If you are musically challenged (like me) then you can enjoy the pool tables..or witty conversation. I also really enjoyed the country music that was being played before karaoke started. They also serve some tasty looking pizzas if you get hungry. I don't drink beer but I would definitely pop by again!

Honestly it's what Memphis can offer. It's a small bar that allows smoking and has no liquor

Howdy folks. How's everyone on Planet Yelp doing? Nasty Nathanial here and it's time for another…read moreone of my "Nasty" reviews. I'm going to kick this review off by asking a single question. Where do you think the hottest gay bar in the south is? Well, if you wanna find out, I suggest ya all get to pumping some gasoline into this spaceship because we are heading across the galaxy to a place called The Pumping Station in Memphis, Tennessee. My friend, and fellow 1st Amendment Activist Silent Citizen, and I had just come into Memphis from Nashville so I could fulfill one of my lifelong dreams of visiting Graceland. Yes I'm a big Elvis fan. So after being on the road for the past 3 and 1/2 hours, what we both needed was a good stiff drink. But where would go to get us a good "stiff" drink? The place would turn out to be a groovy bar The Pumping Station. At first we had a bit of a hard time finding the place. Google maps kept telling us we were there. But where exactly was The Pumping Station? There is no big sign with letters lighted up bright with the words The Pumping Station. I wonder if it's that way on purpose. I must remember that we are in the south. The one thing that identified it for me was the rainbow flag in the window. Once I saw that I knew that we had the right place. Walking inside I fell in love with the place right away. The walls might as well of had the words "Dive Bar" written all over it. But please don't take that the wrong way. This is a good thing. For those of you who have read my past reviews will know that I am a huge fan of the classic American dive bar. Unfortunately, in many places they are a dying breed. But apparently that is not the case here in Memphis. The place was not too busy when Silent Citizen and I arrived. We were able to find a seat up at the bar right away. That's when we were greeted by two friendly bar tenders. One of them was a tall fellow with a shaved head and sporting Mustache Pete's stache. This would earn him the nickname Monopoly Man. The other one was shorter with dark hair and a smile that could light up the darkest alley at night. I would soon learn that his name was Gabriel. I'll just refer to him in this review as simply Gabe. Turns out that this was Gabe's first night working and Monopoly Man was training him. Oh lovely. Now let's talk about Gabe's margarita This guy mixed up a spectacular margarita. I mean this thing was absolutely fabulous. It had the right mixture of all the ingredients and just the right amount of alcohol to where it gave me a good buzz, but at the same time wasn't too overbearing. Plus he remembered to put salt on the rim. So many bartenders forget to do this and it's annoying. Especially when your paying $13 at a place like Good Times At Davey Wayne's. But that wasn't the case here with Gabe at The Pumping Station. Best of all it didn't cost $13. In addition to the fabulous margarita I was sucking on, I was enjoying some really groovy conversation with Gabe. I could've stayed at this place all night. But my friend wanted to go check out Beale Street. But that's ok for we'd return the following night. That's when Silent Citizen would meet the ever so "friendly" Junior. But I think I'll leave that story out of this review to protect the guilty. So I'm gonna go ahead and wrap this review up by saying that the best part about my time in Memphis, besides from Graceland, was my time at The Pumping Station. Seriously I loved this place. The atmosphere was groovy, the staff(Gabe and Monopoly Man) were extremely friendly & welcoming, and the drinks were made stiff and they didn't cost an arm and a leg. Who could ask for more? Well, maybe a massage from Junior? Nah. I'll pass. But the next time I pass through Memphis, I'll definitely be stopping at The Pumping Station. Until next time, may the margaritas continue to be fab and Gabe's award winning smile continue to light up those dark alley's. Happy trails. NASTY NATHANIAL

They chose not to call us and tell us this information because they didn't want to cancel. We boarded the bus with no air conditioning. It was a 90 degree day/evening. We were told because of the break in their a/c was not functioning properly. The window was covered and duck taped with a garbage bag. Our whole group had a 30 min drive to our destination and by the time everyone for off we were drenched in sweat. They had a small fan blowing towards the back of the bus that was not helping at all. When we asked about the air again, we were told we were over capacity on the bus and that's why the air was not functioning correctly. We were under the allotted amount in our group. As we called to get back on the bus we were being told we needed to hurry cause they were waiting when we were the ones who paid for their services. Our group decided to just go home since we were miserable and cut our service short. Our driver drove 37 mph in a 70 most of the way back down the highway. We pulled over at a local restaurant so they could check the oil or the motor on the bus and then we got back on the bus to head home again. When we got back to the house we had to tell them where to pull up to because they pulled up to a hill where people getting off the bus could step out and fall down. This was an overall horrible experience for entire group.

I got on the bus and a window was covered in plastic and duck tape...no big deal to me. However, I immediately noticed it was hot on the bus. As we sat there waiting for everyone to board it just got hotter. When we asked if the a/c was on and working, we were told that someone broke into the bus...which still doesn't explain why the a/c wasn't working. I hoped it would get better once the bus got moving. It did not! They had a fan at the front of the bus which was mainly blowing hot air around and not helping. We were headed to a brewery 30 mins away. However, the trip took about an hour to get there. As we were traveling on the interstate, the driver did not go over 50mp and sometimes it was only 35...by the time we arrived at our destination, everyone was soaked with sweat- so much for looking cute for the evening. While we were at our destination having dinner, we called the main company phone number to complain. That person called the driver and first we were told that our group was over capacity and that is why the a/c didn't work. We pulled up the contract which clearly says, your group can have 20 people and we hd 20 people. We were then told that the driver had recanted and we were not over capacity but that the a/c was working fine. Obviously that was not true. Everyone was so hot, disheveled and upset that the bachelorette was in tears and just wanted the bus to take everyone back home. We got back on the bus (still no a/c) and asked the driver to stop at a Taco Bell. I. The meantime, the girls tried to make the most of it and danced and sang. The driver then started videoing the girls WHILE driving. This was Completely unsafe and she was asked to quit videoing and drive please. When the driver was asked if she could go faster than 35 on the interstate, her response was 'are you the customer'...Um, we are all the customer because we all chipped in on this nightmare ride. When we stopped at the Taco Bell, the lobby was closed unfortunately but we all needed a break from the heat so everyone stepped off the bus as it was cooler outside in Mississippi in August than it was on the bus!! At this time, the hood of the bus was opened and the driver's husband who was also on the bus the whole time, put oil into the bus and the driver said hopefully this would help with the a/c issue. It did not. This was just a miserable experience and we only received attitude from the driver if you asked her about anything. We cut our ride short by 2 hours because we could not stand being on the hot bus. If you look at the pics of the bus above. It's pretty accurate except the large speaker thing at the back of the bus was covered in black plastic, a window was covered in plastic/duct tape and the stripper pole was also duct taped at the top. The group is trying to get some money back due to this awful experience and so far, has received no response. Think twice before your shell out $1600 on this bus with no a/c!!

Downtown

2 days ago NEW I…read morerecently visited this establishment to enjoy a few NFL games and fellowship with my fan club. I placed an order immediately for an item on their menu I was interested in trying. The server assigned to our area was extremely sweet. My total was a little under $18. I used a card to pay and no receipt was given. I then went to the bar and purchased a drink. The young man was pleasant. I again paid with a card and received a receipt (attached to the review for reference). I could not imagine that would have been the extent of any pleasantries thereafter. About 45 minutes into my visit, I noticed that everyone around me had their orders including the people arriving after me (I was the first patron in my section to place a food order). I asked our server to inquire. She comes back stating the order had to be freshly prepared. Another 30 minutes passes by and I still do not have my order. At this point it is now time for me to leave and I went to the counter inquiring about the refund I asked the server to provide. It was here that I encountered the woman owner as she was speaking to another server about my issue overhearing her say, "we don't give refunds. That's just policy". Keep in mind: I don't see this policy posted anywhere. It's not on the bottom of the drink receipt I was given (see photo for reference). As I approach the woman owner, I've begun to explain the situation about my ordering first. She calls the server over trying to verify the time I placed the order, again repeating no refunds are being issued. A man approached from the other side of the counter to tell me that it takes time make my order, that what I order had to be thawed out and this item is not widely ordered. Another server standing next to him then says and we opened at noon. The woman owner again repeats no refunds are issued. As I turn to leave, the food now arrives and I decline it (it's now time for me to leave and I'm not eating 1.5 hours after I've ordered and having had a drink). It's important to resolve all valid customer complaints and that resolution not be: Telling them of a policy not posted any place near where food is ordered. Equipping servers with wait times based on items ordered so that the customer can make an alternate option or be ok with the long wait. Finding fault with the customer in their order option instead of sharpening your process for your menu items which may include items not widely ordered and possibly revising the menu to accommodate the wait times that you can meet. Not even offering an apology in the matter created by this establishment. I'm an avid supporter of local businesses especially those whose owners look like me but this was an impressionable experience and not in a positive way.
